Altering and Redefining the Boundaries of the Hunua Rabbit
District (Notice No. Ag. 5488)

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington, this 19th day of
August 1953
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS by section 31 of the Rabbit Nuisance Act 1928
it is enacted that the Governor-General, at the request
of the Board of any rabbit district, may, by Order in Council,
alter and redefine the boundaries of its district:
And whereas the district known as the Hunua Rabbit
District has been constituted under and for the purposes of
the said Act:
And whereas the Board of the said district has, pursuant
to the said section 31 of the said Act, requested that the
boundaries of its district be altered and redefined by including
an additional area therein:
And whereas the consent of a majority of the persons in
such additional area qualified to be enrolled on the ratepayers'
list for the said district has been given to the inclusion of
such additional area in the said district:
And whereas it is deemed expedient to alter and redefine
the boundaries of the said district accordingly:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
and authorities conferred upon him by the said Act, His
Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby--
(1) Alters and redefines the boundaries of the said
district so constituted as aforesaid;
(2) Declares that the boundaries of the said district
shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto; and, further,
(3) Declares that this Order in Council shall come into
force on the day following publication hereof
in the Gazette.
SCHEDULE
REDEFINING HUNUA RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District containing by
admeasurement 54,100 acres, more or less, bounded by a line
commencing at the westernmost corner of Section 4, Block IX,
Hunua Survey District, being also a point on the Kaitieke
County boundary as described in New Zealand Gazette 1927
at page 1959; thence proceeding in a westerly and northerly
direction generally along the Kaitieke County boundary
described as aforesaid to a point opposite the north-western
corner of Manunui Town District as described in New Zealand
Gazette 1921 at page 1635; thence easterly to and along the
left bank of the Wanganui River to its junction with the
Whakapapa River; thence southerly by the left bank of that
river to the eastern boundary of the Kaitieke Survey District,
and along that boundary to the southern boundary of the
Waimarino E 3 Block; thence westerly by the said southern
boundary to and across a public road; thence southerly by
the western side of that road to its junction with the Te Kuiti-
National Park State Highway, and by the western side of
that highway to its junction with the Raurimu-Wades Landing
Main Highway; thence westerly along the northern side of
that highway to the western boundary of Section 8, Block XII,
Kaitieke Survey District; thence northerly generally by the
western boundary of the said Section 8 to and along a ridge
passing through Sections 10 and 18, Block XII aforesaid, to
its intersection with the southern boundary of section 19,
Block XII aforesaid, and by the southern and western
boundaries of the said Section 19, the western boundary of
Section 20, Block XII aforesaid, the western boundaries of
Waimarino E Nos. 1B, 2B, and part 15 Blocks, the southern
boundaries of Sections 6 and 5, Block VII, Kaitieke Survey
District, the western boundary of the said Section 5 to No. 1
Oio Road; thence westerly generally along the southern side of
that Section 9, Block VII aforesaid; thence northerly across
that road to the southern corner of the said Section 9, and by
the western boundary of that section to the Oio Valley No. 2
Road; thence again northerly by a right line across that road
and continued to the junction of the Oio Stream (west branch)
with a northern tributary of that stream in Section 2, Block
III, Kaitieke Survey District, along the said tributary to its
source and by a right line to the south-western corner of
Section 11, Block III aforesaid; thence again northerly by
the western boundary of the said Section 11, to and across the
Kawautahi Valley Road and by the northern side of that road
to the western boundary of Section 14, Block III aforesaid,
and by the said western boundary to and along the south-
western boundary of Section 2, Block IX, Hunua Survey
District and the southern boundary of Section 4, Block IX
aforesaid, to the said north-western corner, the point of
commencement.

SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE LAKE WAKATIPU RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Otago Land District, Lake County,
containing 46,500 acres, more or less, bounded by a line
commencing at the south-eastern corner of Run 632 on the
Kawarau River; thence northerly along the eastern boundary
of Run 632 to the southern boundary of Crown Survey Dis-
trict; thence generally westerly along that boundary to
Trig GG; thence northerly and westerly along the eastern and
northern boundaries of Block VII, Shotover Survey District,
and the northern boundary of Block X to First Burn; thence
north-westerly along First Burn to and south-westerly along
the Arrow River to Bush Creek; thence generally westerly
along Bush Creek to the western boundary of Section 24,
Block XVII, Shotover Survey District; thence southerly along
that boundary to and generally north-westerly along the
southern boundary of Run 26 to its south-western corner;
thence south-westerly by a straight line to Skippers Saddle on
the Skippers Road, and again south-westerly by a straight line
to the south-western corner of Run 27 on the Shotover River;
thence generally south-easterly along that river to the Arthurs
Point bridge; thence generally southerly to and along the
Wanaka-Queenstown via Arrowtown Main Highway to the
boundary of the Borough of Queenstown; thence north-easterly,
south-easterly, and south-westerly along the boundaries of the
said Borough to the Frankton Arm of Lake Wakatipu; thence
generally easterly along the northern side of Frankton Arm
and the Kawarau River to the point of commencement.

Boundaries of Borough of Mount Maunganui and County of
Tauranga Altered

At the Government House at Wellington, this 19th day of

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 136 of the Municipal
Corporations Act 1933 a petition was presented to the
Governor-General praying that a certain area of land be
excluded from the County of Tauranga and included in the
Borough of Mount Maunganui:
And whereas pursuant to section 24 of the Local Govern-
ment Commission Act 1946 the said petition was referred to
the Local Government Commission:
And whereas the Tauranga County Council and the
Mount Maunganui Borough Council requested the Local
Government Commission to consider a proposal for the
exclusion of a certain further area of land from the County
of Tauranga and its inclusion in the Borough of Mount
Maunganui:
