Officers Authorized to Attest Signatures of Maoris to Instruments Under the Chattels Transfer Act 1924

PURSUANT to section 547 of the Maori Land Act 1931, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby notify and declare that

Edgar Percy Joseph Crabbe, Resident Officer, Taumarunui,
Thomas Bryce Henry, Resident Officer, Hamilton,
Keith Lawrence, Resident Officer, Whangarei,
Thomas Joseph Weatherburn, Building Supervisor, Wellington,
Hohepa Jacob, Welfare Officer, Levin, and
Francis Glover Price, Field Supervisor, Taumarunui,

being officers in the service of the Crown employed by the Department of Maori Affairs in the positions set out opposite their respective names, are authorized to attest, in accordance with the provisions of the said section 547, the signatures of Maoris to instruments by way of security within the meaning of the Chattels Transfer Act 1924.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 14th day of July 1953.

Commander (S) Richard Arthur James Owen, R.N., lent Royal New Zealand Navy for two and a half years’ loan service vice Captain (S) Knott as Third Naval Member of New Zealand Naval Board (to be granted acting rank of Captain (S) while holding this appointment) and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. Philomel, additional, for passage, to date 6 June 1953.

Lieutenant-Commander John Barnes Willis, R.N., lent Royal New Zealand Navy for two and a half years’ loan service and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. Philomel, additional, for passage to New Zealand, to date 19 March 1953.

Lieutenant-Commander Paul Barry Snow, R.N., appointed H.M.N.Z.S. Maori, additional, for two years’ exchange service in Royal New Zealand Navy with Lieutenant-Commander R. T. Hale, R.N.Z.N., to date 30 April 1953.

Lieutenant John Foster McKenzie promoted to rank of Lieutenant-Commander and reappointed, to date 2 April 1953.
