PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by section 301 of the Justices of the Peace Act 1927, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that Ivan Maurice Skerritt, being an officer in the service of the Crown holding the office of a Clerk in the Rehabilitation Department, Auckland, is authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under section 301 of the Justices of the Peace Act 1927.

PURSUANT to section 6 of the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921–22, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a sanctuary under the above Act.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT—WAIRARAPA SOUTH COUNTY

PART Lots 13 and 16, Deposited Plan No. 3680, being Part Sections 107, 107A, 108, 109, and 110, Taratahi Plain Block, also Waikoukou–Tauanui Nos. 7A, 7B, 7C, 7D, and 8, situated in Blocks XII and XVI, Tiffin Survey District: Area, 330 acres 1 rood 29·6 perches, more or less. All of certificates of title, Volume 463, folios 110 and 113, Volume 288, folios 207 and 210, Volume 322, folio 163, Volume 207, folio 204, and Volume 89, folio 173 (M.L. plans 1729 and 3063). As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan numbered I.A. 52/126, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Internal Affairs at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Lands Reserved in the Wellington Land District

WHEREAS by section 167 of the Land Act 1948 it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart as a reserve, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral lease or pastoral occupation licence, any Crown land for any purpose, which, in his opinion, is desirable in the public interest, and notice thereof shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette:

Now, therefore, pursuant to section 167 of the said Act, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby reserve, subject to the reservations and conditions imposed by section 59 of the Land Act 1948, the lands in the Wellington Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, for recreation purposes.


SCHEDULE

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT

ALL that area situated in Block X, Kairanga Survey District, containing by admeasurement 1 rood 21·64 perches, more or less, being Lot 55 as shown on a plan deposited in the Land Registry Office at Wellington under No. 15409, being part Suburban Sections 1029, 1030, 1031, and 1032, Township of Palmerston North.

Also all that area situated in Block X, Kairanga Survey District, containing by admeasurement 2 roods 4·41 perches, more or less, being Lot 53 as shown on a plan deposited as aforesaid under No. 15409, being part Suburban Sections 1021, 1022, 1023, and 1024, Township of Palmerston North.

Varying a Notice Authorizing Officers to Attest Signatures of Maoris to Instruments of Alienation

PURSUANT to section 268 of the Maori Land Act 1931, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, do hereby vary the notice dated 16 October 1950 and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 65 on 19 October 1950, at page 1871, authorizing certain officers in the service of the Crown to attest the signatures of Maoris to instruments of alienation of Maori land, by deleting therefrom the names of

Arthur William George Plaisted, Resident Officer, Whangarei, and

Raymond Seal, Resident Officer, Hamilton.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 14th day of July 1953.
