Authorizing William Grant Jamieson, of Lake Brunner, Hotel-keeper, to Use Water for the Purpose of Generating Electricity

THE HON. K. J. HOLYOAKE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorizes William Grant Jamieson, of Lake Brunner, Hotelkeeper (hereinafter referred to as the licensee), subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth, to take and use from Carew’s Creek (hereinafter referred to as the said stream) situated in Scenic Reserve 1451, Block XI, Hohonu Survey District, in the County of Grey, for the purpose hereinafter set forth, a stream of water not exceeding 3 cubic feet per second at any one time.

CONDITIONS

IMPLIED CONDITIONS

  1. The conditions directed to be implied in all licences by the Water-power Regulations 1934 and the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935 shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this licence, except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.

LICENCE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS

  1. This licence is issued under the Water-power Regulations 1934 and is subject thereto and to the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1935, and the Radio Interference Regulations 1934, and to all regulations hereafter made in amendment thereof or in substitution therefor respectively.

UTILIZATION OF WATER AND LOCATION OF HEADWORKS

  1. Water shall be used under this licence solely for the purpose of Generating electricity and shall be taken from the said stream at the point in Scenic Reserve 1451, Block XI, Hohonu Survey District, indicated on the plan marked S.H.D. 242, deposited in the office of the State Hydro-electric Department at Wellington.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

  1. The licensee is hereby authorized, subject to the conditions hereof, to construct, maintain, and use the following works for the purposes of this licence, the position of the said works being indicated on the said plan S.H.D. 242:—

(a) Headworks consisting of an intake with a water-race and pipe-line leading across Scenic Reserve 1451 to the pelton wheel and power-house hereinafter referred to, giving a static head of approximately 80 ft.

(b) Pelton wheel and power-house with all necessary equipment for generating electricity, situated in Section 3671, Block XI, Hohonu Survey District.

(c) Tail-race leading from the said power-house to the said stream in Scenic Reserve 1451.

DURATION OF LICENCE

  1. This licence, unless sooner lawfully determined, shall continue in force until the 31st day of March 1974.

SYSTEM OF SUPPLY

  1. The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (d) of regulation 21-01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, and shall be alternating current.

RENTAL

  1. For the purposes of assessing the rental or annual sum payable in respect of this licence, the licensee may install a suitable maximum-demand indicator to the satisfaction of the Inspecting Engineer of the State Hydro-electric Department, and failing such installation the rental shall be determined on the maximum capacity of the generating-plant installed. The present plant is rated at 10.9 kilowatts.

NO RIGHT TO WATER CONFERRED

  1. Nothing in this licence shall of itself confer upon the licensee any right to water.

Authorizing the Auckland Transport Board to Erect and Use Certain Electric Lines in the City of Auckland (Westmere Route)

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorizes the Auckland Transport Board (hereinafter with its successors and assigns referred to as the licensee), subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth, to lay, construct, put up, place, and use the electric lines described in the Schedule hereto.

CONDITIONS

PURPOSE OF LINES

  1. The electric lines hereby authorized shall be used only for the purpose of supplying electricity to the licensee’s trackless trolley-omnibuses.

  1. The conditions directed to be implied in all licences by the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935 and the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1935 shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this licence, except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.

  1. In respect of the lines hereby authorized the licensee shall comply with the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1935, the Radio Interference Regulations 1934, and with all regulations hereafter made in amendment thereof or in substitution therefor respectively.

SYSTEM OF SUPPLY

  1. The system of supply shall be classified under paragraph (j) of regulation 21-01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935 and shall be a two-wire direct-current system at a normal rated pressure of 550 volts, for supply to the licensee’s trackless trolley-omnibus system.

DURATION OF LICENCE

  1. This licence shall, unless sooner lawfully determined, continue in force until the 31st day of March 1972.

ALTERATIONS TO AUCKLAND ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD’S LINES OR WORKS

  1. Where the construction, existence, or use of the lines hereby authorized necessitates any alteration to the Auckland Electric-power Board’s existing lines or works and/or the erection of any new or additional lines or works on the opposite side of any street to that on which the Board’s existing lines or works are situated, the cost of any such alteration and/or additional cost involved in erecting any such new or additional lines or works shall be borne by the licensee.

SCHEDULE

LINES for the transmission of electrical energy by the system of supply hereinbefore described along certain routes in the City of Auckland, described as follows:

(a) Lines for two-way traffic commencing in Great North Road immediately west of its intersection with Ponsonby Road, and proceeding in a westerly direction generally along Great North Road, Surrey Crescent and Old Mill Road to a turning circle immediately beyond the entrance to the Auckland Zoological Park.

(b) Lines for two-way traffic commencing at the intersection of Garnet Road and Old Mill Road and proceeding in a north-westerly direction along Garnet Road to a turning circle at the intersection of Garnet Road and Oban Road.

The said lines being more particularly delineated by means of red lines on the plan marked S.H.D. 248, deposited in the office of the State Hydro-electric Department at Wellington.
