Decisions Under the Sales Tax Act 1932-33

THE following decisions in interpretation of the Sales Tax Act 1932-33 are published for public information:

(S) 21/44 Fire fighting equipment 117 The following articles peculiar to use by fire brigades or in fire extinguishing— Asbestos blankets. Axes, firemen's. Ceiling hooks. Door openers. Gauges, fire hydrant flow. Keys, and bars, fire hydrant. Keys, fire hydrant lid. Hose bandages. Hose buckets. Hose cradles. Hose driers. Hose ramps. Hose reels. Lever bar, steel shod, specially designed for fire brigade use. Main branch holders. Monitors, fixed and portable. Motor vehicles, hose carrying. Padlock removers. Salvage tenders. Spanners, nozzle. Sprinkler and fire alarm installations, automatic, and fire protection installations using chemical foam solution or carbon dioxide gas. Strainers, metal and basket. Street fire alarm boxes. Wrenches, suction.
(S) 5/9 Hats and other headwear 117 Hair pins, bobby pins, and ornamental hair slides.
(S) 2/115 Machinery, etc., which if approved under T.I. 352, etc. 117 Track and rails, overhead, and fitting therefor, including supports such as towers, hangers, and gantries, for hoists and cranes.
(S) 3/59 Machinery, etc., which if approved under T.I. 352, etc. 117 Valves, taps, tobies, hydrants, surface boxes, and similar articles of any material other than brass or other copper alloy.

The following decisions are cancelled:

M.D. 107 Valves, taps, tobies, hydrants, and similar articles of any material other than brass or other copper alloy.
M.D. 112 Tumblers, glass or plastic, containing non-taxable goods such as cheese paste.
M.D. 114 Overhead tracks and fittings therefor, for hoists and trolley ways.

Mining Privileges to be Struck Off the Register

Warden's Court, Hokitika, 9 June 1953.

NOTICE is hereby given, in accordance with the provisions of section 188 of the Mining Act 1926, that unless cause to the contrary is shown, the mining privileges mentioned in the Schedule hereto will be struck off the Register at the expiration of one month from the date hereof.
