boundary of Section 1, Block VIII, and Section 1, Block IV,
Chamberlain Settlement, to the southernmost corner of Rural
Section 36478; thence in a northerly direction down Lock-
hart's Stream and the Mackenzie Stream to the northernmost
corner of Rural Section 36218 (Block XIII, Tengawai Survey
District); thence generally easterly along the middle of the
River Tengawai to the road intersecting Sections 23, 24, 25,
and 26, Albury Settlement; thence south-easterly along that
road to the Mackenzie County boundary; thence northerly
and easterly by that boundary to the confluence of the Rivers
Opihi and Opuha, the point of commencement.

Altering and Redefining the Boundaries of the Hakataramea
Valley Rabbit District (Notice No. Ag. 5443)

At the Government House at Wellington, this 10th day of
June 1953
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS by section 31 of the Rabbit Nuisance Act 1928
it is enacted that the Governor-General, at the request
of the Board of any rabbit district, may, by Order in Council,
alter and redefine the boundaries of its district:
And whereas the district known as the Hakataramea
Valley Rabbit District has been constituted under and for
the purposes of the said Act:
And whereas the Board of the said district has, pursuant
to the said section 31 of the said Act, requested that the
boundaries of its district be altered and redefined by including
an additional area therein:
And whereas the consent of a majority of the persons in
such additional area qualified to be enrolled on the ratepayers'
list for the said district has been given to the inclusion of
such additional area in the said district.
And whereas it is deemed expedient to alter and redefine
the boundaries of the said district accordingly:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
and authorities conferred upon him by the said Act, His
Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby—
(1) Alters and redefines the boundaries of the said
district so constituted as aforesaid;
(2) Declares that the boundaries of the said district
shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto;
and, further,
(3) Declares that this Order in Council shall come into
force on the day following publication hereof
in the Gazette.
SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE HAKATARAMEA VALLEY RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Mackenzie and Waimate Counties of
the Canterbury Land District containing 120,020 acres, more
or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point at the
confluence of the Rivers Hakataramea and Waitaki, thence
to and along the centre of the River Waitaki in a north-
westerly direction to and along the eastern boundary of
the Buscot Rabbit District (New Zealand Gazette, 1948,
page 1479–80) and the Mackenzie Rabbit District (New
Zealand Gazette, 1949, page 752) to the Hakataramea River;
then ce to and south-easterly along the centre of the main
stream of that river to a point opposite the fence-line
forming the northern boundary of Pastoral Run No. 65,
Block XVI, Mackenzie Survey District; thence to and
easterly along that fence-line to the fence-line forming
the boundary between said Pastoral Run 65 and Mount
Nessing Settlement; thence in a southerly direction by that
fence-line to and along the boundary between Mackenzie and
Waimate Counties to the south-eastern boundary of Run
65; thence by that boundary and a line passing through
Rural Section 29382, Block V, Nimrod Survey District, to
the south-east corner of Rural Section 28505; thence by the
southern boundary of that Rural Section and the eastern
boundary of Rural Section 34137 to Peters Stream and by
that stream to the centre of the River Hakataramea and
by the centre of that river to its confluence with the River
Waitaki, the point of commencement.

ALL that area of land in the Southland Land District
containing by estimation 66,420 acres, more or less, and
bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the left bank
of the Waimatuku Stream, being the south-eastern corner of
Section 217, Block IV, Oreti Hundred; thence north-easterly
along the south-eastern boundary of the said Section 217,
Block IV, aforesaid, and that boundary produced to the
southern side of the Winton-Otatau main highway; thence
easterly and northerly and again easterly along the southern
eastern and southern sides of the said main highway to its
junction with Woods Road; thence south-easterly generally
along the southern side of the said Woods Road to and
across the Spar Bush-Winton Road to the eastern side
thereof; thence north-easterly along the eastern side of the
said Spar Bush-Winton Road to the south-western boundary
of Lot 9, on the plan numbered 2162 and deposited in the
office of the District Land Registrar at Invercargill; thence
south-easterly along the south-western boundary of the said
Lot 9, and that boundary produced to the right bank of the
Oreti River; thence southerly generally along the right bank
of the Oreti River and the New River Harbour to Foveaux
Strait; thence north-westerly by the said Foveaux Strait to
the mouth of the Waimatuku Stream, Block XIX, New River
Hundred, thence northerly generally along the left bank of
the Waimatuku Stream to the point of commencement.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic and Historic Reserve in the
Hundalee Scenic Reserves Board

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Scenery Preservation Act
1908, His Excellency the Governor-General hereby vests
the control of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto
(being land reserved under the said Act) in trust, for scenic
and historic purposes, as from the date of this notice until the
5th day of October 1953 (unless previously altered or revoked
under the said Act), in the Hundalee Scenic Reserves Board,
as constituted by notification dated the 6th day of October
1948, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 14th
day of that month.
