Land Reserved in the Wellington Land District

WHEREAS by section 167 of the Land Act 1948 it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart as a reserve, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral lease or pastoral occupation licence, any Crown land for any purpose, which in his opinion is desirable in the public interest, and notice thereof shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette:
Now, therefore, pursuant to section 167 of the said Act, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby reserve the land in the Wellington Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, for gravel purposes.

SECTION 62, Horowhenua Village Settlement, situated in Block I, Waiopuhu Survey District: Area, 5 acres, more or less. (S.O. plan 22100.)

Appointment in the Royal New Zealand Navy
His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointment in the Royal New Zealand Navy:-
Captain Sir Charles E. Madden, Bart., R.N., lent Royal New Zealand Navy and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. ‘‘ Maori ’’ additional to date 6 February 1953, and H.M.N.Z.S. ‘‘ Philomel II ’’ additional for passage to date 21 February 1953. To be First Naval Member and Chief of the Naval Staff, New Zealand Naval Board, in succession to Rear-Admiral F. A. Ballance, D.S.O., to date 31 March 1953 (to serve in the rank of Commodore, Second Class, whilst holding this appointment).

Temp. Lieutenant K. Royds, late 24th Composite Anti-Aircraft Regiment, is posted to the Retired List with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 8 April 1953.

Major C. K. Reed, D.S.O., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 2nd Regiment, R.N.Z.A., with the rank of Major, with seniority from 23 September 1944. Dated 19 February 1953.
Captain B. S. Cole is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 2nd Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., with the rank of Captain, with seniority from 30 May 1946. Dated 31 March 1953.
