THE Public Service Commission has made the following appointments in the Public Service:—

Charles Frederick Lundy

To be Registrar of the Magistrate's Court at Rangiora for the purposes of the Magistrates' Courts Act 1947, and Maintenance Officer at the Magistrate's Court at Rangiora for the purposes of the Destitute Persons Amendment Act 1926, on and from the 9th day of April 1953.

Wilfred Augustine Dowd

To be Assistant Registrar of Companies at Auckland for the purposes of the Companies Act 1933, and Assistant Registrar of the Incorporated Societies at Auckland for the purposes of the Incorporated Societies Act 1908, on and from the 7th day of April 1953.

William McBride

To be Assistant Registrar of Companies at Auckland for the purposes of the Companies Act 1933, and Assistant Registrar of Incorporated Societies at Auckland for the purposes of the Incorporated Societies Act 1908, on and from the 7th day of April 1953.

Adrian Engelbert Marie Jacobus Scharphuis

To be an Inspector under the Stock Act 1908, and the Meat Act 1939, on and from the 15th day of April 1953.

To be an Inspector under the Orchard and Garden Diseases Act 1928, on and from the 16th day of April 1953.

Time and Place of an Election by Fire-insurance Companies to Fill an Extraordinary Vacancy on the Fire Committee for the Bluff Urban Fire District

Pursuant to the Fire Services Act 1949, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby appoints 10 a.m. on Wednesday, 6 May 1953, as the time and the offices of the Otago and Southland Fire and Accident Underwriters’ Association, Dunedin, as the place for the holding of a meeting of representatives of the insurance companies carrying on business in New Zealand to elect one member of the Fire Committee for the Bluff Urban Fire District.

Approval of Red Reflectors for Heavy Motor Vehicles, Being Goods Service Vehicles in Terms of the Traffic Regulations 1936

Pursuant to clause (22) of regulation 7 of the Traffic Regulations 1936, the Minister of Transport hereby approves, for the purposes of the said regulation, red reflectors of the make and type described in the Schedule hereto and samples of which are deposited at the Head Office of the Transport Department, Wellington.

Exemption Order Under the Motor-Driver Regulations 1940

Pursuant to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:—

A motor-driver's licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940, to the person described in Column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize him to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of his employment for the employer described in Column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize him, while he is under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940

Authorized Insurers Under Part One of the Workers’ Compensation Amendment Act 1950

Pursuant to section 22 of the Workers’ Compensation Amendment Act 1950, I hereby notify that in addition to the State Fire Insurance General Manager, constituted under the State Fire Insurance Act 1908 and the insurance companies named in the notice dated the 13th day of April 1951 and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 32 of the 19th day of April 1951, at page 563, the following insurance company within the meaning of the said Act is an authorized insurer under Part 1 of the Workers’ Compensation Amendment Act 1950 as on and from the 1st day of April 1953:—
