Exempting Land in the Canterbury Land District from the Operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by subsection (2) of section 171 of the Coal Mines Act 1925 and of all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, I, Sir Humphrey Francis O’Leary, the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be exempt from the operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925, and hereby further declare that this notice shall take effect as from the date of the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area of land in the City of Christchurch containing 21·8 perches, more or less, being Lot 2 on Deposited Plan 16519, part of Rural Section 62, and being part of the land comprised in certificate of title, Volume 183, folio 233 (Canterbury Land Registry).

Officer Authorized to Take and Receive Statutory Declarations

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by section 301 of the Justices of the Peace Act 1927, I, Sir Humphrey Francis O’Leary, the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that Captain Maurice Linton Hardie, D.S.C., R.N., being an officer in the service of the Crown holding the office of Naval Officer-in-Charge, Auckland, is authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under section 301 of the Justices of the Peace Act 1927.

Declaring the River Avon and Certain Other Streams in the North Canterbury Acclimatization District to be a Sanctuary Under the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921–22

PURSUANT to section 6 of the Animals Protection and Game Act 1921–22, I, Sir Humphrey Francis O’Leary, the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, hereby revoke the Warrant dated the 27th day of April 1929, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 31 of the 2nd day of May 1929, at page 1319, declaring the River Avon to be a sanctuary for imported and native game, and hereby declare that the area described in the Schedule hereto shall be a sanctuary for the purpose of the said Act.
SCHEDULE
THE River Avon from its source in Rural Sections 177 and 144, Block X, Christchurch Survey District, to the Pleasant Point Bridge between Rural Section 11212 and 14342, Block XII, Christchurch Survey District, including the Waimairi and Wairarapa Streams, Dudleys Creek, and all other tributaries of the River Avon, and of the said streams and creek.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, this 26th day of November 1952.

Lands Reserved in the North Auckland and Wellington Land Districts

WHEREAS by section 167 of the Land Act 1948, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart as a reserve, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral lease or pastoral occupation licence, any Crown land for any purpose, which, in his opinion, is desirable in the public interest, and notice thereof shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette: Now, therefore, pursuant to section 167 of the said Act, I, Sir Humphrey Francis O’Leary, the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, hereby reserve, subject to the reservations and conditions imposed by section 59 of the Land Act 1948, the lands in the North Auckland and Wellington Land Districts described in the Schedule hereunder written, for the purposes specified at the end of the respective descriptions of the lands so intended to be reserved.
