Price Order No. 1385 (Australian Potatoes)
PURSUANT to the Control of Prices Act 1947, the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, hereby makes the following Price Order :—

This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1385, and shall come into force on the 16th day of June 1952.

Price Order No. 1374* is hereby revoked.
APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER
- This Order applies with respect to all potatoes imported into New Zealand from Australia and sold by way of retail.
FIXING MAXIMUM RETAIL PRICES OF POTATOES TO WHICH THIS ORDER APPLIES
- The maximum price that may be charged or received for any potatoes to which this Order applies that are sold by way of retail shall be determined as follows :—
(a) Where the potatoes are sold by any retailer whose place of business is situate within a radius of twenty miles from the principal Post Office at Auckland, Wellington, or New Plymouth the maximum price shall be 6d. per pound.
(b) Where the potatoes are sold by any retailer whose place of business is situate elsewhere than at one of the places specified in paragraph (a) hereof the maximum price shall be 6½d. per pound.
DUTY IMPOSED ON RETAILERS
- Every retailer who offers or exposes any potatoes to which this Order applies for sale in any shop shall keep in a prominent position in such proximity to the potatoes to which it relates as to be obviously descriptive thereof a ticket, placard, or label on which shall be stated in legible and prominent characters the word “Australian” and the retail price per pound.

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act 1926 I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the Borough of Marton, taken on the 28th day of May 1952, on the proposal of the Marton Borough Council to borrow the sum of £3,500 for the purpose of erecting a worker’s dwelling :—

The number of votes recorded against the proposal was .. 248
I therefore declare that the proposal was rejected.

Pharmacy Industry
A. E. Kemp, care of R. A. Kemp, 11 Otahuri Crescent, Remuera, Auckland, has applied for a licence to operate a new pharmacy at Queens Road, Panmure, Auckland.
Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit
A. McC. Donaldson, Woolston, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on garage premises at 35 Lane Street, Woolston.
C. R. Wyllie and B. Chaffey, Tuatine, have applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from two pumps to be installed on garage premises at Tuatine.
R. Caesar, 300 Halswell Road, Christchurch, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from two pumps to be installed on garage premises at 300 Halswell Road, Christchurch.
Okau Co-op. Dairy Co., Ltd., Ahititi, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit otherwise than through pumps from stocks to be kept in a depot established on the company’s premises at Ahititi.
Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on these applications should, not later than 26 June 1952, submit any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender. Restricted Introduction of Soil, Sand, Clay, or Earth (Notice No. Ag. 5256)
PURSUANT to the Introduction of Soil Prohibition Order 1952, the Director of the Horticulture Division of the Department of Agriculture, as delegate of the Minister of Agriculture under the said order, hereby grants general permission to introduce into New Zealand soil, sand, clay, or earth for the purposes and subject to the conditions following, namely—
-
For processing or manufacture—e.g., for use in ceramics, moulding, &c.
-
For scientific purposes—e.g., soil analysis.
-
Clean sand used as ballast for aircraft provided that such sand is landed and stored on the airport of entry under the supervision and to the satisfaction of a Plant Quarantine Officer. Such sand may be used as ballast for aircraft departing from New Zealand.

Soil, sand, clay, or earth used as ballast for vessels provided that it is either discharged into the sea or landed under the supervision of a Plant Quarantine Officer and deposited at such place as he shall appoint.

Revoking a Notice Declaring Land to be Subject to Part I of the Maori Land Amendment Act 1936 (Wharekahika Development Scheme)
PURSUANT to section 4 of the Maori Land Amendment Act 1936, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby revokes a notice made on the 18th day of August 1937, and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 57 of the 26th day of August 1937, at page 2078, whereby the land described in the Schedule hereto was declared to be subject to Part I of the said Act.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area of Maori Land in the Tairawhiti Maori Land Court District, situate in Block VII, Matakaoa Survey District, and known as Wharekahika 18K 10A 2 Block, containing 109 acres, more or less.
