Notice to Persons Affected by Applications for Licences Under Part III
of the Industrial Efficiency Act 1936

Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit

M. J. Bradley, Aromoho, has applied for a licence to resell
motor-spirit from two pumps to be installed at service-station and
garage premises, 382 Somme Parade, Aromoho.

J. G. Staunton, Christchurch, has applied for a licence to resell
motor-spirit from two pumps to be installed at service-station
premises at Weedons, Christchurch.

C. H. Gare, Kainga, Christchurch, has applied for a licence to
resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on store premises,
117 Stewarts Gully Road, Kainga, Christchurch.

T. W. Mouat, Punakaikai, has applied for permission to shift
one petrol pump from its present position to a new site a quarter mile
distant on the Greymouth-Westport Highway, Punakaikai.

Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be
materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on
these applications should, not later than 22 May 1952, submit any
written evidence and representations they may desire to tender.
All communications should be addressed to Secretary, Bureau of

Light Established

Position : Lat., 36° 48′·3 S.; long., 174° 56′ E. (approx). Centre
of the outer end of the extension to Motuihe Wharf.

Abridged Description : F. 14 ft. (U).

Details : A fixed white light visible all round the horizon has
been installed in the centre of the outer end of the extension to
Motuihe Wharf at a height of 14 ft.

Chart Affected : No. 1896.

PREVIOUS notice to Mariners No. 13 of 1952 :-
Position : Lat., 21° 12′·2 S.; long., 159° 45′·8 W. (approx.). On
rear beacon of the eastern pair of anchorage beacons south of the
Residency.

Abridged Description : Fl. 5 secs. 170 ft. 15 M (U).

Details : The Department of Island Territories advises that
the above light is additional to the fixed red light on the rear beacon,
and not in place of it, the fixed red light being still exhibited from
this beacon as hitherto.

(d) 122° distant 4·80 cables. 3 ft. ½ a fathom.
(e) 133° distant 5·20 cables. 4 ft. ½ a fathom.
(f) 145° distant 11·00 cables. 18 ft. 3 fathoms.
(g) 150° distant 10·50 cables. 18 ft. 3 fathoms.
(h) 151° distant 12·00 cables. 18 ft. 3 fathoms.

Remarks : On Chart No. 3484 the depth of 24 ft. close eastward
of position (b) above, the depth of 29 ft. close northward and the
depth of 25 ft. close westward of position (c) above, are to be expunged. The 3-fathom line is to be extended about 1·8 cables
156° to enclose the depths at (a), (b), and (c) above.

The depths at positions (d) and (e) above are to be enclosed by a
1 fathom line ; the depths of 23, 25, and 24 ft. shown between them
are to be expunged.

On Chart No. 2540 the depth of 4¾ fathoms close eastward of
position (c) above is to be expunged.

The depths at positions (d) and (e) are to be enclosed by a
1 fathom line.

Note : The corrections at positions (d), (f), (g), and (h) above will
be embodied in a large correction to Chart No. 2553.

(2) Note to be inserted--

Position : About 10·3 cables 132° from the above
light.

Details : The note “Bank extends southward
(1951)” is to be inserted in the above position.

(3) Alteration in position of light-buoy--

Position : About 0·5 cables 166° from its charted
position and 148° distant 1·95 cables from the above
light.

Abridged Description : Unaltered.

MARINERS are warned that ships frequently overhang Pipitea
Wharf to a distance of 150 ft. Great care should therefore
be exercised when navigating in the vicinity of the fog signal on
this wharf, particularly in fog.
