Little Wanganui—Closing of Port

Position: Lat. 41° 24' S., long. 172° 04' E. (approx.).
Details: The latest soundings reveal that the river has shoaled considerably and there is insufficient water for a vessel to work the wharf. Owing to the complete absence of shipping over a number of years it has been decided to remove all shipping facilities and to declare the port closed.

Position: Burnham Wharf Light, Lat. 41° 18′7 S., long. 174° 48′7 E. (approx.).
Details: The sounding 3 fathoms 2 feet shown in a position approximately 100 feet north-west of the above position should be altered to read 6 fathoms 2 feet. The 6 fathom contour line should be altered to trend inside this sounding, and the 3 fathom line to trend inside the north-east corner of Burnham Wharf.

Details: The British Consulate for Nuku'alofa, Tonga, reports that the lighthouse at 'Eua Iki has collapsed and the light extinguished until further notice.

Amending Notice of Adoptions Under Part IX of the Maori Land Act 1931

THE notice of adoptions dated the 3rd day of December 1951 and published in the Gazette on the 13th day of December 1951, at page 1848, and affecting Matatoru Tamaira and others is hereby amended by Order of the Maori Land Court by substituting for the name “Takamairangi Brian Gotty”, the name “Takamairangi Douglas Gotty.”

Amending Notice of Adoptions Under Part IX of the Maori Land Act 1931

THE notice of adoptions dated 7 February 1952 and published in the Gazette on the 14th day of February 1952, at page 212, and affecting Adeline Flood and others is hereby amended by Order of the Maori Land Court by substituting for the names “George Edward Flood and Bessie Flood” the names “Moa Pokiha and Uru Pokiha”.

Price Order No. 1367 (Hairdressing Charges)

PURSUANT to the Control of Prices Act 1947, the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, hereby makes the following Price Order:—

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1367 and shall come into force on the 3rd day of April 1952.
  2. (1) Price Order No. 1253* is hereby revoked.
    (2) The revocation of the said Order shall not affect the liability of any person for any offence in relation thereto committed before the coming into force of this Order.

APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER

  1. This Order applies only with respect to the haircutting and shaving of males, when the services rendered are performed on premises in the occupation of the hairdresser.

FIXING MAXIMUM CHARGES FOR HAIRCUTTING AND FOR SHAVING OF MALES

  1. (1) Subject to the following provisions of this clause the maximum charges that may be made or received for services to which this Order applies shall be:—
    (a) For haircutting . . . . . . . . . . 2 3
    (b) For shaving . . . . . . . . . . . . 1 3
    (2) Subject to the provisions of subclause (3) hereof, where the person whose hair is cut is a child under school age or a pupil attending school, the maximum charge shall be 1s. 6d.
    (3) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the foregoing provisions of this clause, the maximum charge for haircutting shall be 2s. 3d. when the service is performed on that day of the week on which the hairdresser observes his late night.
    (4) No additional charge shall be made for customary services performed in relation to haircutting or to shaving and no additional charge shall be made for booking an appointment.

(Main Crop Potatoes)

PURSUANT to the Control of Prices Act 1947, the Price Tribunal, acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and Commerce, hereby makes the following amending Price Order:—

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1369, and shall be read together with and deemed part of Price Order No. 1351* (hereinafter referred to as the principal Order).
  2. This Order shall come into force on the 3rd day of April 1952.
  3. The principal Order is hereby amended by omitting all references therein to imported potatoes.

Dated at Wellington, this 3rd day of April 1952.
