Revoking a Proclamation Proclaiming the Takitimu Tribal District
Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945

A PROCLAMATION

PURSUANT to section 6 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945 I, Bernard Cyril, Baron Freyberg, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby revoke the Proclamation made on the 10th day of July 1947, and published in the Gazette on the 17th day of July 1947, at page 872 proclaiming the Takitimu Tribal District and the Proclamation made on the 24th day of March 1950, and published in the Gazette on the 30th day of March 1950, at page 330, varying the first mentioned Proclamation.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, and issued under the Seal of New Zealand, this 29th day of February 1952.

Proclaiming a Tribal District Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945

A PROCLAMATION

PURSUANT to section 6 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act 1945, I, Bernard Cyril, Baron Freyberg, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby declare the parts of New Zealand described in the Schedule hereto to be a tribal district for the purposes of the said Act, and hereby assign to the said district, the name “Takitimu Tribal District.”

SCHEDULE

TAKITIMU TRIBAL DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Gisborne Land District, being Part Waiapu County, Waikohu County, Uawa County, and Part Cook County, bounded by a line commencing at Paritu, being a point on the sea coast in Block XIII, Paritu Survey District; thence north-westerly along a right line in the direction of the junction of the Hangaroa and Ruakituri Rivers to the middle of the Mangarangiora Stream; thence northerly up the middle of that stream to the northernmost corner of Mangapoike No. 2d Block, in Block IV, Opoiti Survey District and a right line to the north-western corner of Whakangaonga 2c 2 Block; thence north-westerly, northerly, and north-easterly generally along the generally eastern side of the road forming the south-western boundaries of Sections 46, 45, 44, 51, again 44, and 48 all of Block XVI, Hangaroa Survey District, the western boundaries of Section 3, Block XIII of that Survey District, Section 1, part 5, 6, 10, 8, part 3, part 2, the southern boundary of part Section 21, all of Block VIII, Hangaroa Survey District, and the south-eastern boundary of part Hangaroa Matawai No. 2c; thence south-westerly along the north-western side of the road forming the north-western boundary of Hangaroa Village, and the production of that side to the middle of the Hangaroa River; thence down the middle of that river to a point in line with the generally northern side of the Gisborne Waikaremoana Road; thence south-westerly along a right line to the northern side of that road; thence westerly generally along the northern side of that road to the middle of the Kawaimango Stream in Block I, Hangaroa Survey District; thence south-westerly up the middle of that stream to the eastern boundary of Lot 21 of Tahora 2r, Section 2 Block; thence northerly along that boundary and the eastern boundary of Lot 24 of Tahora 2c 1 Section 3 Block; thence westerly generally along the northern boundary of that Block, the northern boundary of Lot 23 of Tahora 2c 1 Section 3 Block; thence north-westerly and southerly along the north-eastern and western boundaries of Lot 18 of Tahora 2r, Section 2 Block, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to its intersection with a right line between Trig. Stations Puketapu and Maungapohatu; thence north-westerly along that right line to Trig. Station Maungapohatu; thence north-easterly along a right line in the direction of Maungatapere Trig. Station to its intersection with the western boundary of Tahora Block; thence northerly along that boundary to a point in line with the northern boundary of Small Grazing-run 89; thence to and along that boundary, the northern boundaries of Small Grazing-run 90, Sections 2 and 3, Block XII, Moanui Survey District, Sections 4, 1, and 2, Block IX, Motu Survey District, and Section 2, Block V, Motu Survey District, to Pokaikiri Trig. Station; thence along a right line to Trig. Station 149A; thence easterly generally along the southern boundary of Whakapaupakahi No. 2 Block to and down the middle of the Whakapaupakahi Stream to its confluence with the Motu River in Block II, Motu Survey District; thence north-easterly generally down the middle of the Motu River to a point on the production of a right line between Trig. Station Tuanui-o-te-kahakaha in Block X, Arowhana Survey District, and Trig. Station 140 (Pungarehu) in Block II, Ngateretere Survey District; thence north-easterly to and along the said right line to Trig. Station Tuanui-o-te-kahakaha and along a right line to Trig. Station Arowhana in Block IV, Arowhana Survey District; thence northerly along a right line in the direction of Kapua Trig. Station in Block V, Hikurangi Survey District, to the western boundary of Huiarua No. 3 Block; thence southerly along the said western boundary of Huiarua No. 3 Block to the westernmost corner of Huiarua No. 1 Block; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundaries of Huiarua No. 1 Block, Small Grazing-run 98 and Section 1, all of Block V, Tutamoi Survey District, and Section 1, Block VI, Tutamoi Survey District; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundaries of the last-mentioned Section 1, Section 2, Block V aforesaid and Sections 2 and 1, Block IX, Tutamoi Survey District, to the southern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence southerly, south-easterly, and south-westerly along the generally eastern boundaries of Waipaoa No. 2 Block to the northern corner of Waipaoa No. 3B Block; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of that block and its production to the middle of the Waingaromia River; thence south-westerly generally down the middle of that river to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Lot 11 on the plan numbered 1696 deposited as aforesaid; thence to and along that boundary and the north-eastern boundary of Lot 3 on the said plan numbered 1696 and its production to the middle of Waiapu Inland Road; thence north-easterly generally along the middle of that road to the middle of a public road; thence southerly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the
