RESOLUTION

THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Beaumont Racing Club at a meeting held on the 19th day of October 1951, at Beaumont, with a recommendation by the Chairman of such club, Mr. D. D. McPherson, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by His Excellency the Governor-General in pursuance of the Gaming Act 1908, section 33.

Mr. D. D. McPherson, the Chairman of such club, and the meeting moved, and Mr. F. J. Beel seconded, and it was resolved that such regulations should be adopted and that the Chairman and Secretary be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to :—

BEAUMONT RACING CLUB

REGULATIONS

(Under the Gaming Act 1908)

In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Beaumont Racing Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as the said club), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the Wingatui Racecourse situated in the district of Taieri County and known as the Wingatui Racecourse while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette.

  2. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act 1908.

  3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely :—

(a) Bookmakers.

(b) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents.

(c) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association.

(d) Common prostitutes and persons who habitually consort with thieves or persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

(e) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-breaking or pocket picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues, and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act 1908: Provided always that the Executive Committee appointed by the New Zealand Racing Conference, upon being satisfied by evidence as to character and otherwise that any person who, by reason of any conviction, comes within the scope of this regulation, should have relief from the effect thereof, may grant exemption to any such person, and may at any time revoke any such exemption without notice to such person, and without assigning any reason for such revocation.

The foregoing regulations of the Beaumont Racing Club were made and passed by such club on the 19th day of October 1951, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

NOTICE is hereby given that a general meeting of shareholders in the Auckland Milk Company, Limited (in liquidation), will be held at the office of the Marketing Department, Fanshawe Street, Auckland, on Wednesday, the 12th day of December 1951, at 11 a.m., for the purpose of laying before it the liquidator’s account of his acts and dealings and of the conduct of the winding-up.

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to section 222 of the Companies Act 1933, an extraordinary resolution was duly passed on the 23rd day of November 1951 by entry in the minute-book under section 300 of the Companies Act 1933 as follows :—

“That the company, as it cannot by reason of its liabilities continue in business, be voluntarily wound up and that it be left to the creditors at their meeting to appoint a liquidator.”

PURSUANT to the Mining Act 1926, the undersigned, Archibald James Craig, of Poolburn, Farmer, hereby applies for a licence for a water-race, as specified in the Schedule hereto, the course whereof has been duly marked out for the purpose.

Precise time of marking out privilege applied for : 15 November 1951, 3 p.m.

Date and number of miner’s right : 15 November 1951, No. 88232.

Address for service : Care of Bodkin, Sunderland, and Depree, Box 8, Alexandra.

Dated at Alexandra, this 15th day of November 1951.

LOCALITY of the race, and of its starting and terminal points ; also description of land traversed—e.g., unalienated Crown land, private land, or otherwise : Commencing at a point in Poolburn Creek in pipe line, and thence running through and terminating by race in applicant’s Section 7, Block XI, Poolburn Survey District.

Length and intended course of race : ½ mile north-east.

Points of intake : One in Poolburn Creek.

Estimated time and cost of construction : Already constructed.

Mean depth and breadth : 2 ft. by 1 ft.

Number of heads to be diverted : 1⅔ heads.

Purpose for which water is to be used : Irrigation and domestic.

Proposed term of licence : Twenty-one years.
