SPECIAL ORDER
THAT, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1950, the Foxton Borough Council resolves by way of special order that, within the boundaries of the Borough of Foxton, the plants mentioned in the Schedule hereinafter set out be and are hereby declared to be noxious weeds.
SCHEDULE
Blackberry (Rubus fruticosus and Rubus laciniatus).
Common broom (Cytisus scoparius).
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare).
Goat's rue (Galega officinalis).
Gorse (Ulex europaeus).
Hemlock (Conium maculatum).
Lupin (Lupinus arboreus).
Ragwort (Senecio jacobaea).

Plants Declared to be Noxious Weeds in the Borough of Bluff (Notice No. Ag. 5117)

THE following special order made by the Bluff Borough Council on the 23rd day of August, 1951, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1950.
SPECIAL ORDER
PURSUANT to section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1950, the Bluff Borough Council does declare the following to be noxious weeds within the Borough :—
Bathurst bur (Xanthium spinosum).
Blackberry (Rubus fruticosus and Rubus laciniatus).
Californian thistle, Canadian thistle, or creeping thistle (Cirsium arvense).
Common broom (Cytisus scoparius).
Gorse (Ulex, any species).
Hakea (Hakea saligna, Hakea suaveolens, Hakea pubescens, and Hakea acicularis).
Hemlock (Conium maculatum).
Lupin (Lupinus arboreus).
Pennisetum (Pennisetum macrourum).
Ragwort (Senecio jacobaea).
Scotch thistle or plume thistle (Cirsium lanceolatum).
Star thistle (Centaurea calcitrapa).
Wild turnip (Brassica campestris).
Yellow star thistle (Centaurea solstitialis).

Compensation for British Interests in French Nationalized Gas and Electricity Undertakings
Ministry of External Affairs,
Wellington, 4th September, 1951.
IT is hereby notified for public information that an Agreement has been concluded between the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and the Government of the French Republic relating to the terms of compensation for British interests in French nationalized gas and electricity undertakings.
British nationals who are the present owners of such interests and who wish to claim compensation under the Agreement may obtain further information about the provisions of the Agreement and the procedure for the submission of claims thereunder, on application to the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom, Wellington.
British nationals are defined in the Agreement as :—
“ (a) Persons who at the date on which they make the declaration provided for in Article 1 of the present Terms of Settlement are either citizens of the United Kingdom and Colonies or citizens of Southern Rhodesia or British protected persons deriving their status as such from connexion with any territory for the conduct of whose foreign relations the Government of the United Kingdom is responsible :
“ (b) Juridical persons incorporated or constituted under the laws in force in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or in any of the territories referred to in subparagraph (a) above.”
In other words New Zealand citizens who do not also fall into one of the above categories are not eligible to make application under the Agreement.
The French Government have agreed to an amendment of the Agreement to provide for an extension of the time-limit for the submission of declarations of acceptance, until 11th September, 1951.

Ernest Gordon Bennett, Esquire, J.P.,
to exercise jurisdiction in the Children's Court established at Palmerston North.

Declaring Trailer Units Forming Part of a Multi-axled Motor-vehicle to be Trailers
PURSUANT to subsection (1) of section 2 of the Transport Act, 1949, the Minister of Transport doth hereby determine that the four vehicles specified in the Schedule hereto, each forming part of a multi-axled vehicle as defined by section 2 of the said Act, shall be deemed to be trailers.
SCHEDULE
THREE trailer units, Chassis Nos. T.8151, T.8160, and T.8161, owned by Inglewood Motors, Limited, Inglewood.
One trailer unit, Chassis 8162, owned by L. Butler, Inglewood.
