IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 27 of the Maori Purposes Act, 1931, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
Francis Herbert Bull, Esquire,
of Gisborne, to be the Deputy of the East Coast Commissioner during the absence of the said Commissioner or while he is unable to act.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 13th day of August, 1951.

Extending Period Within Which the Royal Commission Appointed to Inquire Into and Report Upon the Desirability of Establishing an Additional Meat-export Slaughterhouse in Southland Shall Report (Notice No. Ag. 5103)

WHEREAS by Our Warrant of date the 13th day of July, 1951, issued under the Authority of the Letters Patent of His late Majesty, dated the 11th day of May, 1917, and under the authority of and subject to the provisions of the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1908, and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, you, the said

Bernard Charles Alton McCabe, and
Ernest Dawson Wilkinson
were appointed to be a Commission to inquire into and report upon the desirability of establishing an additional Meat-export slaughterhouse in the Southland Land District :
And whereas by Our said Warrant you were required to report not later than the 31st day of August, 1951, your findings and opinions upon the matters thereby referred to you :
And whereas it is expedient that the time for so reporting should be extended as hereinafter provided :
Now, therefore, we do hereby extend until the 30th day of September, 1951, the time within which you are so required to report :
And we do hereby confirm the said Warrant and Commission save as modified by these presents.
In witness whereof We have caused these presents to be issued and the Seal of New Zealand to be hereunto affixed at Wellington, this 15th day of August, in the year of Our Lord one thousand nine hundred and fifty-one, and in the fifteenth year of Our Reign.
Witness Our Trusty and Well-beloved Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, on whom has been conferred the Victoria Cross, Knight Grand Cross of Our Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Knight Commander of Our Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Knight Commander of Our Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, Companion of Our Distinguished Service Order, Lieutenant-General in Our Army, Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief in and over New Zealand and its Dependencies, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY
Regular Force—
Captain and Quartermaster N.B. Mitchell, M.B.E., to be temp. Major and Quartermaster. Dated 3rd July, 1951.
Territorial Force—
Temp. Lieutenant A. E. Valentine, late 24th Composite Anti-aircraft Battery, N.Z.A. (disbanded), is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 23rd July, 1951.
Temp. Lieutenant R. C. Wasley, late 130th Medium Battery, N.Z.A. (disbanded), is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 23rd July, 1951.
9th Coast Regiment, R.N.Z.A.—
Lieutenant G. S. Cross is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 9th Coast Regiment, R.N.Z.A., with the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 25th April, 1947. Dated 17th July, 1951.
11th Coast Regiment, R.N.Z.A.—
Temp. Lieutenant D. A. Bell is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 23rd July, 1951.
Temp. Lieutenant J. E. Hartstone is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of Lieutenant. Dated 23rd July, 1951.
15th Composite Anti-aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A.—
Captain J. B. MacFarlane is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 15th Composite Anti-aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A., with the rank of Captain, with seniority from 24th May, 1945. Dated 20th July, 1951.
1st Locating Battery, R.N.Z.A.—
Major S. P. Norrie relinquishes the appointment of O.C., 1st Locating Battery, R.N.Z.A., and is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 1st Locating Battery, R.N.Z.A., with the rank of Major, with seniority from 1st August, 1949. Dated 17th July, 1951.
Captain L. F. Raven is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of Captain. Dated 16th July, 1951.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) E. D. Burton, from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Captain, with seniority from 9th January, 1951, is posted to the 1st Battalion and seconded to Headquarters, 1st Infantry Brigade, for duty as Staff Captain. Dated 1st July, 1951.
