Revoking the Declaration of Main Highways and Declaring Public
Highways to be Main Highways

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington, this 8th day of
August, 1951
Present:
His Excellency THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested
in him by section 3 of the Main Highways Act, 1922, and of
all other powers in anyway enabling him in this behalf, His
Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that, on and after the
date of publication of this Order in Council in the New Zealand
Gazette, the main highways described in the First Schedule hereto
shall cease to be main highways, and doth further declare that the
roads described in the Second Schedule shall be main highways
within the meaning and for the purposes of the Main Highways
Act, 1922.

FIRST SCHEDULE
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 28
Station Road.-All that main highway or portion of main
highway in the Matamata Borough declared as the Station Road
Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 3rd April, 1929,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 4th April, 1929.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 16
Waipiata-Styx.-All that main highway or portion of main
highway in the Maniototo County declared as the Waipiata-Styx
Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd April,
1928, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 5th April, 1928.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 17
Waipahi-Pomahaka.-All that main highway or portion of
main highway in the Clutha and Tuaepa Counties declared as
the Waipahi-Pomahaka Main Highway, described in Order in
Council dated 2nd July, 1928, and published in the New Zealand
Gazette on 5th July, 1928.

SECOND SCHEDULE
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 16
Waipiata-Patearoa.-All that road or portion of road in the
Maniototo County, commencing at the Waipiata Railway-station,
and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction via
Patearoa and terminating at its junction with Carr's Road at a
point opposite the south-western corner of Section 38, Block VII,
Upper Taieri Survey District, being a distance of 11 miles 40 chains,
more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan
P.W.D. 134010, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board
at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.

Ranfurly-Patearoa.-All that road or portion of road in the
Maniototo County, known as the Ranfurly-Patearoa Road, com-
mencing at a point in the Township of Ranfurly at the junction
of Thomas Street and the Palmerston-Clyde Main Highway, and
proceeding across the Otago Central railway, and thence in a south-
easterly direction along Charlemont Street, thence in a south-
westerly direction along Granville Place, thence generally in a
southerly direction through Blocks VI, X, XIV, and XIII, Manio-
toto Survey District, and Block I, Upper Taieri Survey District,
and terminating at its junction with the Waipiata-Patearoa Main
Highway in the township of Patearoa, being a distance of 11 miles,
more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan
P.W.D. 134010, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board
at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.

HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 17
Waipahi-Pomahaka.-All that road or portion of road within
the township of Waipahi in the Clutha County, commencing at
its junction with the Dunedin-Gore Main Highway at a point
approximately 5 chains south of the Waipahi Overbridge, and
proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction across the
Main South and Waipahi-Ediiovale branch railways, thence via
Mansfield Street, thence in a north-westerly direction via Sherwood
Street and terminating at the junction of Sherwood and Roberts
Streets, being a distance of 46 chains, more or less; as the same is
more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 131540, deposited
in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon
coloured green.
Also all that road or portion of road in the Clutha and Tuapeka
Counties, commencing at the junction of Sherwood and Roberts
Streets, Township of Waipahi, and proceeding thence generally
in a north-westerly and then northerly direction via Conical Hills,
and terminating at its junction with the McNab-Ediiovale Main
Highway near Pomahaka at the north-western corner of Section 1,
Block II, Glenkenich Survey District, being a distance of 9 miles,
more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan
P.W.D. 72360, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board
at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Officers Authorized to Take and Receive Statutory Declarations

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by section 301
of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927, I, Lieutenant-General
Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion
of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the persons
whose names are set out in the Schedule hereto, being officers in the
service of the Crown holding the offices stated opposite their names
respectively in the said Schedule, are authorized to take and receive
statutory declarations under section 301 of the Justices of the
Peace Act, 1927.

Alfred Douglas McCleland, Accountant, Chief Post Office, Napier.
Dudley Tennant Louis Coward, Postmaster, Takaka.
Vernon Arthur Judd, Postmaster, Te Kaha.

Officer Authorized to Take and Receive Statutory Declarations

PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by section 301
of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927, I, Lieutenant-General
Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion
of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that Charles Reginald
Ridding, being an officer in the service of the Crown holding the office
of Supervisor, Marketing Department, at Wellington, is authorized
to take and receive statutory declarations under section 301 of the
Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 14th day of August, 1951.

of Assistant Commissioner, Public Service Commission, Auckland,
is authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under
section 301 of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.
