Board of Trade Notice No. 8—Review of Import Licensing

Board of Trade,
Wellington, 27th June, 1951.

NOTICE is hereby given—

(1) That in response to Board of Trade Notice No. 2 the Board has received a statement of certain objections to the exemption from import licensing in respect of goods from other than scheduled countries comprised in the following items as set out in the 1951 Import Licensing Schedule, namely :—

T.I. 57 . . Sauces; chutney; soy and catsup in vessels of 10 gallons capacity and under;
Ex T.I. 61 (1) (b) Soups, other than oyster and other fish soup, in powder or otherwise and whether in admixture with other substances or not (excluding Bovril and Oxo);
T.I. 136 (4) (a) . . Gloves and mittens composed wholly or principally of leather;
Ex T.I. 338 (2) (b) Plug sockets or bases, &c.;
Ex T.I. 353 (8) (c) Clothes wringers, hand type;
T.I. 356 (3) . . Builders’ and cabinetmakers’ hardware, &c.:

(2) That persons, firms, or organizations considering themselves or their members likely to be materially affected by the continuance of the import licensing of these goods and desirous of lodging an objection to such continuance, must do so in writing by sending five copies of the statement of objections addressed to the undersigned so as to reach him on or before the 27th July, 1951:

(3) That each statement lodged as above should relate only to one of the above items and should state clearly but concisely the grounds of the objection to continuance: and

(4) That in the event of the Board desiring to hear oral representations in regard to the objections, notice will be given to both the objectors to the exemption from licensing and the objectors to the continuance of licensing of the time or times fixed for hearings.

Result of Poll for Proposed Loan

THE following notice, received by the Right Hon. the Minister of Finance from the Mayor of the City of Auckland, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to Raise a Loan of £750,000

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of the City of Auckland taken on the 5th day of May, 1951, on a proposal of the Auckland City Council to borrow the sum of £750,000, to be known as the Tamaki District Improvement Loan, 1950, the following number of votes were recorded :—

Votes.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was . . 4,259
The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 6,327
Informal votes . . . . . . 56

I therefore declare that the said proposal was rejected.

The transmission of these broadcasts from ZLN 3 on 14,850 kc./s. is cancelled.

The decision appearing in M.D. 46 and reading “ Connecting rod aligner, the ‘ Riteway ’ ” is cancelled.
