Revoking the Declaration of Main Highways and Declaring Public Highways to be Main Highways

THE HON. K. J. KOIYOAKE PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by section 3 of the Main Highways Act, 1922, and of all other powers in anyway enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby declare that, on and after the date of publication of this Order in Council in the New Zealand Gazette, the main highways described in the First Schedule hereto shall cease to be main highways, and doth further declare that the roads described in the Second Schedule shall be main highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the Main Highways Act, 1922.
FIRST SCHEDULE
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 1
Bayley's Coast.-All that main highway or portion of main highway in the Dargaville Borough and Hobson County declared as the Bayley's Coast Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 10th October, 1928, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 11th October, 1928, and Order in Council dated 7th November, 1945, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 15th November, 1945.
Dargaville-Tikinui.-All that main highway or portion of main highway in the Dargaville Borough and the Hobson County declared as the Dargaville-Tikinui Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd October, 1940, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 10th October, 1940.
Dargaville-Ohaeawai via Waipoua Forest.-All that main highway or portion of main highway in the Kaikohe Borough and the Hobson, Hokianga, and Bay of Islands Counties declared as the Dargaville-Ohaeawai via Waipoua Forest Main Highway, and described in Order in Council dated 12th May, 1948, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 20th May, 1948.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 2A
Waitakere Scenic Drive.-All that main highway or portion of main highway in the Waitemata County declared as the Waitakere Scenic Drive Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 8th November, 1939, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 9th November, 1939.
Auckland-Hamilton.-All that main highway or portion of main highway in the Papatoetoe Borough declared as the Auckland-Hamilton Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd October, 1940, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 10th October, 1940.
Carruth.-All that main highway or portion of main highway in the Papatoetoe Borough declared as the Carruth Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 16th December, 1935, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 19th December, 1935.
Papatoetoe-Howick.-All that main highway or portion of main highway in the Papatoetoe Borough declared as the Papatoetoe-Howick Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd July, 1928, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 5th July, 1928.
Mangere Bridge - Papatoetoe.-All that main highway or portion of main highway in the Manukau County and Papatoetoe Borough declared as the Mangere Bridge - Papatoetoe Main Highway, described in Order in Council dated 2nd April, 1928, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 5th April, 1928, and also in Order in Council dated 10th November, 1937, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 18th November, 1937.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 17
Dunedin-Gore.-All that main highway or portion of main highway in the Clutha County declared as the Dunedin-Gore Main Highway, commencing at the north-eastern boundary of Section 14, Block VII, Waipahi Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a westerly direction passing through the Township of Waipahi via Sherwood Street, Roberts Street, and Railway Terrace, and terminating at the south-western boundary of Section 56, Block VII, Waipahi Survey District, being a distance of 2 miles 70 chains, more or less, described in Order in Council dated 2nd October, 1940, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 10th October, 1940; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 131894, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 18
Riverton-Rocks.-All that main highway or portion of main highway in the Riverton Borough declared as the Riverton-Rocks Main Highway, described Order in in Council dated 14th January, 1932, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 21st January, 1932.
SECOND SCHEDULE
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 1
Bayley's Coast.-All that road or portion of road in the Hobson County, commencing at its junction with the Dargaville-Ohaeawai via Waipoua Forest Main Highway at the south-eastern corner of Section 11, Block XV, Kaihu Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a westerly direction and terminating at the
south-western boundary of Section 1, L.T.P. 20714, Block XIII, Kaihu Survey District, being a distance of 5 miles 33 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 131862, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
Dargaville-Tikinui.-All that road or portion of road in the Dargaville Borough, commencing at the junction of Murdoch Street and Mangawhare Road (Dargaville-Ohaeawai via Waipoua Forest Main Highway), and proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction and terminating at the Dargaville Borough southern boundary, being a distance of 57 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 131862, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
Also all that road or portion of road in the Hobson County, commencing at the Dargaville Borough southern boundary and proceeding thence generally in a south-easterly direction through Te Kopuru and terminating at its junction with the Tikinui Wharf Road in Block XIV, Tokatoka Survey District, being a distance of 14 miles 14 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 107322, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
Dargaville-Ohaeawai via Waipoua Forest.-All that road or portion of road in the Hobson, Hokianga, and Bay of Islands Counties, commencing at the western boundary of the Dargaville Borough at the south-eastern corner of Section 14, Kaihu No. 1 Block, Block XV, Kaihu Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction via Kaihu, Waipoua Forest, and Waimamaku, and thence generally in a westerly, northerly, easterly, and north-easterly direction, but excluding that portion in the Kaikohe Borough, and terminating at its junction with the Whangarei-Awanui Main Highway at the Ohaeawai Post-office in Block IX, Kawakawa Survey District, being a distance of 91 miles 29 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 126860, and thereon coloured green, and on plan P.W.D. 131862, and thereon coloured blue, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington.
Also all that street or portion of street in the Kaikohe Borough, commencing at the Kaikohe Borough south-western boundary, and proceeding thence generally in a north-easterly direction and terminating at the Kaikohe Borough eastern boundary, being a distance of 1 mile 74 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 126952, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
Also all those streets or portions of streets in the Dargaville Borough, commencing at the junction of Hokianga Road (Hokianga Road Main Highway) and Norman Street (Whangarei-Dargaville Main Highway) at the Dargaville Post-office, and proceeding thence generally in a south-westerly direction across the Kaihu River, along Mangawhare Road, westerly along Murdoch Street, and thence in a north-westerly direction, and terminating at the Dargaville Borough western boundary, being a distance of 2 miles 8 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 131862, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board, at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 2A
Waitakere Scenic Drive.-All that road or portion of road in the Waitemata County, commencing at a point opposite the south-western corner of Lot 3, as shown on D.P. 8837, deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar, Auckland, and proceeding thence generally in a westerly, then northerly, and then north-easterly direction, and terminating at the junction with the Henderson-Kumeu via Swanson Main Highway at a point approximately 45 chains west of the Swanson Railway-station, being a distance of 8 miles, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 105088, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured brown.
Mangere Bridge - Papatoetoe.-All that road or portion of road in the Manukau County, commencing at the southern boundary of the Onehunga Borough and proceeding thence generally in a southerly direction by way of Mangere Bridge, and thence generally in a south-easterly direction via Coronation Road, McKenzie Road, Kirkbride Road, Massey Road, and Buckland Road, and terminating at the western boundary of Papatoetoe Borough, being a distance of 6 miles 11 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 71598, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured blue.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 17
Dunedin-Gore.-All that road or portion of road in the Clutha County, known as the Waipahi Deviation, and commencing at the north-eastern boundary of Section 14, Block VII, Waipahi Survey District, and proceeding thence generally in a westerly direction and terminating at the south-western boundary of Section 56, Block VII, Waipahi Survey District, being a distance of 2 miles 20 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 131894A, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
HIGHWAY DISTRICT No. 18
Riverton-Rocks.-All that road or portion of road in Riverton Borough, commencing at its junction with the Riverton-Tuata-pere Main Highway and proceeding generally in a south-easterly direction via Bay Road, Richard Street, Church Street, and Sea Front Road, and terminating at the south-eastern boundary of the Borough of Riverton, the whole being a distance of 1 mile 22 chains, more or less; as the same is more particularly delineated on plan P.W.D. 131668, deposited in the office of the Main Highways Board at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.
