Revoking a Warrant Declaring Areas to be Closely Populated Localities
and Revoking Portion of Warrant Excluding Roads From
Limitation as to Speed and Declaring Areas to be Closely
Populated Localities for the Purposes of the Transport Act,
1949, Section 36


IN terms of section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949, the Minister
of Transport doth hereby revoke the Warrant dated the 30th
day of November, 1937,* which declares areas in Hawera County
to be closely populated localities and doth also revoke that portion of
the Warrant dated 1st day of September, 1937,† referring to roads
within Hawera Borough and doth hereby declare the areas described
in the Schedule hereto to be within closely populated localities
for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person
driving any motor-vehicle on any road therein shall be subject to
the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said
section.


SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Hawera County.

All that area adjacent to Hawera Borough consisting of those
portions of roads hereinafter described.

(1) New Plymouth–Hawera State Highway No. 10, com-
mencing at its junction with the Waihi Main Highway
and terminating at a point one chain measured along
the said state highway in a south-easterly direction from
its junction with Victoria Street.

(2) The Hawera–Wanganui State Highway No. 11, commencing
at its junction with the New Plymouth–Hawera State
Highway and terminating at a point ten chains, measured
along the said Hawera–Wanganui State Highway in an
easterly direction from Gladstone Street.

(3) The New Plymouth–Hawera via Opunake State Highway
No. 26, commencing at its junction with the New Ply-
mouth–Hawera State Highway and terminating at the
junction of the said New Plymouth–Hawera via Opunake
State Highway with Waihi Main Highway.

(4) Waihi (Hawera) Main Highway No. 545.

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes
of Section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949


IN terms of section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949, the Minister
of Transport doth hereby declare the area described in the
Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the purposes
of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-
vehicle on any road therein shall be subject to the maximum speed
limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.


SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Clutha County—

All that area at Kaka Point consisting of the Balclutha–Kaka
Point Main Highway No. 269 commencing at point 10
chains measured along the said main highway in a southerly
direction from its junction with Moana Street, and
terminating at a point 20 chains measured along the said
main highway in a northerly direction from its junction
with Rimu Street.

Exemption Order Under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940


PURSUANT to the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister
of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions
of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations, so far as they
relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the
persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following
provision shall apply:—

A motor-driver's licence issued under the Motor-drivers
Regulations 1940 to any one of the persons described in Column
1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize him to drive a heavy
trade motor in the course of his employment on a farm or market
garden of the respective employer described in Column 2 of the said
Schedule; but shall not authorize him, while he is under the age of
eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Notice Prescribing Colours of Registration Plates and Declaring
Registration Plates to be Licence


PURSUANT to regulation 8 (2) of the Motor Vehicles Registration
and Licensing Regulations 1949*, the Minister of Transport
doth hereby declare that, in respect of the licensing year commencing
on the 1st day of July, 1951, and any licensing year thereafter,
the distinguishing marks on registration plates shall be embossed
and coloured white on a black background and that the registration
plates shall be deemed for the purposes of the Transport Act, 1949,
and for the purposes of the said regulations to be a licence to use the
respective motor vehicle in the licensing year commencing on the
1st day of July, 1951.

Classification of Roads in Whangamomona County


PURSUANT to Regulation 3 (5) of the Heavy Motor Vehicle
Regulations 1950, the Minister of Transport doth hereby
approve the Whangamomona County Council's proposed classification
of the roads described in the Schedule hereto and situated in the
Whangamomona County.

Roads Classified in Class Four

STRATHMORE RIDING

Akama, Brewer, Favier, Kirai, Kohi, Kurapete, Makahu,
Mangaehu, Mangarewa, Mohakau, Murcott, Quarry, Round Hill,
Tahunaroa, Tapuni, Tirohanga, and Whangamomona Roads.

POHOKURA RIDING

Arnold, Junction, Makahu, Matirangi, Pohokura, Tawhiwhi,
and Whangamomona Roads.

CENTRAL RIDING

Kohuratahi, Mangere, Marangae, Marco, Okara, Pleasant
Terrace, Poarangi, Prospect, Putikituna, Tangarakau, Vera, and
Whangamomona Roads.

TAHORA RIDING

Maikai, Mangaowata, Mangapapa, Mauku, Moki, Mt. Damper,

Pharmacy Industry

for a licence to operate a new pharmacy at 247 Clyde Road, Christ-
church.

Hutt Valley Consumers Co-op. Society, Ltd., Seddon Street,
Nae Nae, has applied for a licence to operate a new pharmacy at
High Street, Taita North, Taita.

Retail Sale and Distribution of Motor-spirit

D. R. Cameron, Grey Street, Tauranga, has applied for a
licence to resell motor-spirit from two pumps to be installed on
service station and garage premises at Grey Street, Tauranga.

M. L. Lambly, Coroglen, has applied for a licence to resell
motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on garage premises at
Coroglen.

A. J. W. Harvey, Kati Kati, has applied for a licence to resell
motor-spirit from one pump to be installed on store premises three
miles from Kati Kati.

Southern Scenic Air Trips, Ltd., Waiho, via Franz Joseph
Glacier, has applied for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one
pump to be installed on the Airfield at Waiho, via Franz Joseph
Glacier.

Tutukau Sawmilling Co., Arataki, via Whakamaru, has applied
for a licence to resell motor-spirit from one pump to be installed
on timber mill premises at Arataki, via Whakamaru.

Applicants and other persons considering themselves to be
materially affected by the decisions of the Bureau of Industry on
these applications should, not later than 28th June, 1951, submit
any written evidence and representations they may desire to tender.
