Altering and Redefining the Boundaries of the Pahau Rabbit District.—

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington, this 6th day of June, 1951
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, and to section 29 of the Rabbit Nuisance Amendment Act, 1947, His Excellency the Governor-General, at the request of the Minister of Agriculture, made on the recommendation of the Rabbit Destruction Council, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby—
(1) Alter and redefine the boundaries of the Pahau Rabbit District by adding thereto the area of land the boundaries of which are described in the First Schedule hereto ;
(2) Declare that the boundaries of the said district as so altered and redefined shall be those set forth in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE
DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF THE AREA TO BE ADDED TO THE PAHAU RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Amuri County, Canterbury Land District, containing approximately 200 acres and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the left bank of the Pahau River at the south-west corner of the Culverden Settlement; thence across the said Pahau River in a south-westerly direction to and westerly along the rabbit fence forming the southern boundary of Lot 16, D.P. 3551, to and north-westerly along the Grampians–Balmoral Road to the southern extremity of Lot 1, D.P. 3550; thence easterly along the boundary of the said Lot 1 to and across the Pahau River aforesaid to its left bank; thence generally in an easterly direction along the left bank of that river to the Culverden Settlement at its south-west corner, the point of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE
DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF THE PAHAU RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Amuri and Waipara Counties, Canterbury Land District, containing approximately 484,500 acres, commencing at the confluence of the Waiau and Hanmer Rivers; thence in a southerly direction down the centre of the main stream of the said Waiau River to the bridge over that river near Montrose Homestead; thence across that river and south-westerly by the road from the said bridge to the Main Hanmer Road; thence south-easterly by the south-western side of the said Hanmer Main Road to the northern boundary of the Culverden Settlement; thence westerly and southerly along the northern and western boundaries of that settlement to its south-western corner; thence in a south-westerly direction across the Pahau River to the rabbit fence at the eastern boundary of Lot 16, D.P. 3551; thence generally westerly along that rabbit fence which forms the southern boundary of said Lot 16 to the Grampians–Balmoral Road; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern side of that road to the southernmost boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 3550; thence generally north-westerly along the south-western boundary of said Lot 1, D.P. 3550, to the Dove River; thence generally in a south-westerly direction down the centre of the main stream of that river, to the centre of the main stream of the Mandamus River, and southerly down the centre of the main stream of that river to the centre of the main stream of the Hurunui River; thence generally south-westerly up the centre of the main stream of that river to the centre of the main stream of the Seaward River; thence south-westerly up the centre of the main stream of the said Seaward River to a point on the Dampier Range near Mount Whatno; thence generally north-westerly along the summit of the said Dampier Range and the Snowy Range to a point on the Main Divide near Harper’s Pass; thence north-easterly along the said Main Divide to Lewis Pass; thence in a southerly direction along the main stream of the Lewis River and the Boyle River to the Hope River; thence generally easterly along the centre of the main stream of that river and the Waiau River to the confluence of the Waiau and Hanmer Rivers, the place of commencement.

Authorizing John Andrew Paterson, of Titirangi, Havelock, Sheep-farmer, to Use Water for the Purpose of Generating Electricity

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby grant to John Andrew Paterson (hereinafter referred to as the licensee) a licence, subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth, to take and use from an unnamed stream (hereinafter referred to as the said stream), situated in Section 1, Block IX, Gore Survey District, for the purpose hereinafter set forth, a stream of water not exceeding 1 cubic foot per second at any one time.
CONDITIONS
- IMPLIED CONDITIONS
THE conditions directed to be implied in all licences by the Water-power Regulations 1934 and the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935 shall be incorporated in and shall form part of this licence, except in so far as the same may be inconsistent with the provisions hereof.
- LICENCE SUBJECT TO REGULATIONS
This licence is issued under the Water-power Regulations 1934, and is subject thereto, and to the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1935, and the Radio Interference Regulations 1934, and to all regulations hereafter made in amendment thereof or in substitution therefor respectively.
- UTILIZATION OF WATER AND LOCATION OF HEADWORKS
Water shall be used under this licence solely for the purpose of generating electricity and shall be taken from the said stream at the point in Section 1, Block IX, Gore Survey District, indicated on the plan marked S.H.D. 145, deposited in the office of the Minister in Charge of the State Hydro-electric Department.
- GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS
The licensee is hereby authorized, subject to the conditions hereof, to construct, maintain, and use the following works for the purposes of this licence, the positions of the said works being indicated in the said plan S.H.D. 145:—
(a) Headworks consisting of an intake with a pipe-line leading to the power-house hereinafter referred to, giving a static head of approximately 311 ft.
(b) A Pelton wheel and power-house with all necessary equipment for generating electricity, situated in Section 1, Block IX, Gore Survey District.
(c) A tail-race leading from the aforesaid power-house back to the said stream.
- SYSTEM OF SUPPLY
The system of supply shall be classified under paragraph (j) of Clause 21–01 of the Electrical Supply Regulations 1935, and shall be a direct-current system of 110 volts.
- DURATION OF LICENCE
Unless sooner lawfully determined, this licence shall continue in force until the 31st day of March, 1972.
- RENTAL
For the purpose of assessing the annual rental payable in respect of this licence, the licensee may install a suitable maximum-demand indicator to the satisfaction of the Inspecting Engineer of the State Hydro-electric Department, and, failing such installation, the rental shall be assessed on the maximum generating-capacity of the plant installed. The present plant is rated at 5 kilowatts.
- NO RIGHT TO WATER CONFERRED
Nothing in this licence shall of itself confer on the licensee any right to water.

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby grant to Edward Roland Guinness, of Timaru, Retired Farmer, John Charles Lee Guinness, of Ealing, Farmer, and Mervyn Archdrill Raymond, of Timaru, Solicitor, as trustees of the estate of Edwin Roland Guinness, late of Glentanner Station, South Canterbury, Farmer, and Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Limited, a duly incorporated company having its registered office at Christchurch, as trustee of the estate of Henry Archibald Le Cren, late of Glentanner Station, South Canterbury, Farmer (hereinafter collectively referred to as the licensees), a licence subject to the conditions hereinafter set forth, to take and use from an unnamed stream (hereinafter referred to as the said stream) situated in Run 89, Block VII, Tasman Survey District, in the Land District of Canterbury, for the purpose hereinafter set forth, a stream of water not exceeding one cubic foot per second at any one time, and to lay, construct, put up, place, and use the electric lines hereinafter described.
