Vesting the Control of a Reserve in the Tikokino War Memorial Public Library Board

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 10th day of April, 1951
Present:
THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto is a reserve duly set apart for a site for a public library:
And whereas it is expedient that the control of the said reserve should be vested in a special Board as hereinafter provided:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section 17 of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, doth hereby vest the control of the reserve described in the Schedule hereto, for the period of five years from the date hereof (unless previously amended or revoked under the said Act), in the undermentioned persons, namely,—
Olga Alice Ada Hudson,
Norma Ford,
Maud Isoline Williamson,
Leicester Moorhead,
Harvey Hall Eddy,
Stanley James Rumbal,
Robert William Mackie,
Francis Joseph Sullivan, and
Kenneth Turner Isaac Shute
who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board by the name of the Tikokino War Memorial Public Library Board (hereinafter referred to as the Board), with the powers and subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:—

The first meeting of the Board shall be held on Tuesday, 17th day of April, 1951, at eight o’clock p.m., in the Tikokino War Memorial Public Library, and thereafter the Board shall meet for the transaction of business at such time and place as may from time to time be fixed by the Board.

The members of the Board shall at their first meeting, and thereafter at the annual meeting hereinafter mentioned, elect one of themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold office until the election of his successor.

Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, provided that two days’ notice of such meeting is given to each member, specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting; and no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such meeting.

Any five members of the Board shall form a quorum. Any meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose one of their number to be Chairman of such meeting.

If by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise, the seat of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents himself, without reasonable cause, from three consecutive meetings of the Board, the Governor-General shall have power to appoint any other person to be a member of the Board in his (or her) stead.

All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

The Board shall have prepared and submitted at an annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the 31st day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister of Lands as soon as possible after each annual meeting.

The Board shall control the said reserve and the building erected thereon for the purposes of a war memorial public library, and shall also afford settlers and residents of Tikokino and the surrounding district such facilities for meeting within the said building as may from time to time be determined by the Board: Provided that the Board shall have power to fix reasonable charges for the use of the said building.

HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT
ALL that area containing by admeasurement 19·4 perches, more or less, being part Section 175, Township of Hampden (Tikokino). Bounded towards the north by Owen Street, 60·6 links; towards the east by part Section 175, 200 links; towards the south by Section 7, 60·6 links; and towards the west by Section 86, 200 links; be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Revoking the Reservation Over a Reserve in Hunua Survey District, Wellington Land District

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 10th day of April, 1951

THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by subsection (1) (b) of section 7 of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the reservation for a site for a public cemetery over the land described in the Schedule hereto; and doth hereby declare that the said land, being vested in the Crown, is Crown land available for disposal under the Land Act, 1948.

Recreation Reserve in Canterbury Land District Brought Under Part II of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 10th day of April, 1951
Present:
THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in me by section 34 of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby order and declare that the reserve for recreation in the Canterbury Land District described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby brought under the operation of and declared to be subject to the provisions of Part II of the said Act, and such reserve shall hereafter form part of the Upper Riccarton Domain, and be managed, administered, and dealt with as a public domain by the Upper Riccarton Domain Board.

BY virtue of the powers and authorities vested in me by section 34 of the Public Reserves, Domains, and National Parks Act, 1928, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, do hereby order and declare that the reserve for recreation in the Wellington Land District described in the Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby brought under the operation of and declared to be subject to the provisions of Part II of the said Act; and such reserve shall hereafter be known as the Omataene Domain, and be managed, administered, and dealt with as a public domain.
