Land Reserved in the Wellington Land District

WHEREAS by section 167 of the Land Act, 1948, it is enacted that the Governor-General may from time to time set apart as a reserve, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral lease or pastoral occupation licence, any Crown land for any purpose, which, in his opinion is desirable in the public interest, and notice thereof shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette :

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the said Act, do hereby reserve, subject to the reservations and conditions imposed by section 59 of the Land Act, 1948, and subject also to the reservations imposed by section 8 of the Coal Mines Amendment Act, 1950, the land in the Wellington Land District, described in the Schedule hereunder written, for recreation purposes.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT

SECTION 43, Block IV, Hautapu Survey District: Area, 9 acres 1 rood 1·9 perches, more or less. (S.O. plan 22271.)

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 10th day of April, 1951.

Member Appointed to Pelorus Scenic Board

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the 21st day of September, 1948, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 30th day of that month, the control of a certain reserve in the Marlborough Land District, known as the Pelorus Scenic Reserve, was vested in certain persons therein named who were by the said Warrant constituted a special Board by the name of the Pelorus Scenic Board, in pursuance of section 13 of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 :

And whereas it is desirable that Geoffrey Cameron Wood should be appointed a member of the said Board in place of Alfred de Tracy Gould, resigned :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 13 of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby appoint the said

Geoffrey Cameron Wood

to be a member of the Pelorus Scenic Board constituted by the Warrant dated the 21st day of September, 1948, hereinbefore referred to, in place of the said Alfred de Tracy Gould.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 5th day of April, 1951.

Captain Jack Etheridge Slaughter, D.S.O., R.N., lent Royal New Zealand Navy for passage, 15th May, 1951, and for duty as Second Naval Member, New Zealand Naval Board, vice Lovegrove (date to be reported).

Commander Peter John Knowling, R.N., lent Royal New Zealand Navy and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. “Maori”, additional, to date 7th February, 1951, H.M.N.Z.S. “Philomel”, additional, for passage (date to be reported), and H.M.N.Z.S. “Tamaki”, in command, vice Brereton (date to be reported).

Lieutenant Dennis Hyland O’Donoghue, R.N., transferred to the Royal New Zealand Navy in the rank of Lieutenant, to date 7th February, 1951, with seniority of 25th March, 1948.

Lieutenant Adrian Charles Theodore Hawksley, R.N., lent Royal New Zealand Navy, and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. “Maori”, additional, to date 21st February, 1951, and H.M.N.Z.S. “Philomel”, additional, for passage (date to be reported).

Lieutenant John Hamilton, R.N., lent Royal New Zealand Navy, and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. “Maori”, additional, to date 7th February, 1951, and H.M.N.Z.S. “Philomel”, additional, for passage (date to be reported).

Sub-Lieutenant Ian Scott Monro, promoted to the rank of Acting Lieutenant, with seniority of 16th June, 1950, and re-appointed, to date 17th December, 1950.

Instructor Lieutenant Stanley Joseph Frank Hermans, promoted to the rank of Instructor Lieutenant-Commander, to date 21st January, 1951.

Instructor Lieutenant John Gammon, B.Sc., R.N., placed on two years’ exchange service with the Royal New Zealand Navy, vice Hermans, to date 16th January, 1951.

Cadet (E) John Burton, promoted to the rank of Midshipman (E), to date 1st January, 1951, with seniority of 1st January, 1951.

Lieutenant David Douglas Stewart, R.N. (Retired), entered in the Royal New Zealand Navy in the rank of Lieutenant (Special Branch), to date 11th December, 1950, with seniority of 1st March, 1945, and appointed H.M.N.Z.S. “Philomel II” (temporary), for duty inside Navy Office, to date 11th December, 1950.
