Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Masterton, the County of Masterton, and the Opaki and Te Whiti Ridings of the County of Masterton

Wellington, 15th February, 1951.
PURSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the Borough of Masterton are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said borough having been altered by Order in Council made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, dated the 11th day of October, 1950, and published in New Zealand Gazette No. 64 of the 12th day of October, 1950.
And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the County of Masterton affected by the said Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto.
And, in further pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations, Act 1933, the boundaries of the Opaki and Te Whiti Ridings of the County of Masterton affected by the said Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Third Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF MASTERTON
ALL that area of land in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point being the intersection of the eastern boundary of the Wellington-Napier Railway with the northern boundary of Section 63, Masterton Small Farms Settlement; thence proceeding easterly generally along the said northern boundary to a point distant 500 links from the western side of the Woodville-Masterton State Highway; thence northerly by a right line parallel with and distant 500 links from the western side of the aforesaid State Highway for a distance of 200 links; thence easterly by a right line parallel with and distant 200 links from the northern boundary of Section 63, Masterton Small Farms Settlement and the production of the last-mentioned line to the eastern side of the Woodville-Masterton State Highway; thence northerly along the eastern side of that Highway to the northern side of Fifth Street; thence easterly along the northern side of Fifth Street and its production to the eastern side of Manuka Street; thence southerly along the eastern side of Manuka Street to the northern boundary of Section 72, Masterton Small Farms Settlement; thence easterly along that boundary and the northern boundary of Section 73, Masterton Small Farms Settlement, to the western side of Gordon Street; thence southerly along the western side of Gordon Street to the northern side of Te Ore Ore Road; thence westerly generally along the northern side of that road to a point in line with the western side of Columba Road; thence southerly to and along the western side of Columba Road to the left bank of the Waipoua River; thence south-westerly generally along that left bank to its junction with the right bank of the Ruamahanga River; thence south-westerly by a right line to the intersection of the right bank of the Waipoua River with the right bank of the Ruamahanga River; thence southerly generally along the right bank of the Ruamahanga River to the north-western boundary of Section 14, Masterton Small Farms Settlement; thence south-westerly along that north-western boundary to the eastern side of Johnstone Street; thence south-westerly by a right line to the southern boundary of Section 9, Masterton Small Farms Settlement; thence south-westerly along that boundary for a distance of 250 links; thence north-westerly by a right line parallel with and distant 250 links from the south-western side of Johnstone Street to the north-western boundary of Section 9, Masterton Small Farms Settlement; thence south-westerly along that boundary and its production to the middle of the Kuripuni Stream; thence northerly generally along the middle of that stream to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Section 30, Manaia Block; thence south-westerly to and along that north-western boundary and north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary of Section 29, Manaia Block, to a point distant 255 links from the south-eastern side of Columba Road; thence south-westerly by a right line parallel with and distant 250 links from the south-eastern side of Columba Road to the south-western boundary of Lot 5 on the plan numbered 4527, deposited in the Land Registry Office at Wellington; thence north-westerly along that south-western boundary to its intersection with the north-eastern side of Millard Avenue; thence south-easterly along that side to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Lot 3 on the aforesaid plan numbered 4527; thence south-westerly to and along that boundary and north-westerly along the south-western boundary of the aforesaid Lot 3 to the south-eastern boundary of Lot 2 on the plan numbered 4527 aforesaid; thence south-westerly along that boundary to the southernmost corner of Lot 2 aforesaid, being also the southernmost corner of Section 2, Manaia Block; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of that section to a point 250 links from the south-eastern side of South Road; thence south-westerly by a right line parallel with and distant 250 links from the south-eastern side of South Road to the north-eastern side of Millard Avenue; thence south-easterly along that side to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of the land on Deeds Plan numbered 276, lodged in the Deeds Registry Office at Wellington; thence south-westerly to and along that boundary and north-westerly along the south-western boundary of the land shown on the said plan numbered 276 to a point distant 250 links from the south-eastern side of South Road; thence south-westerly by a right line parallel with and distant 250 links from that side to a point distant 218·18 links from the north-eastern boundary of Section 8, Manaia Block; thence south-easterly by a right line parallel with and distant 218·18 links from that boundary for a distance of 250 links; thence south-westerly by a right line
parallel with and distant 500 links from the south-eastern side of South Road to the north-eastern boundary of Section 8, aforesaid; thence north-westerly along that boundary to a point distant 250 links from the south-eastern side of South Road; thence south-westerly by a right line parallel with and distant 250 links from that side to a point 121·12 links from the north-eastern side of Manaia Road; thence south-easterly by a right line parallel with and distant 121·12 links from that side for a distance of 50 links; thence south-westerly by a right line parallel with and distant 300 links from the south-eastern side of South Road to the north-eastern side of Manaia Road; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern sides of Manaia Road and Junction Road and the production of the north-eastern side of Junction Road to the middle of High Street; thence northerly by a right line at right angles to the middle line of High Street to the northern side of High Street and the production of that line for a further 250 links; thence easterly by a right line parallel with and distant 250 links from that northern side of High Street for a distance of 635 links; thence north-westerly by a right line parallel to and distant 250 links from the south-western side of Judd’s Road for a distance of 700 links; thence north-easterly by a right line to the north-western corner of part Lot 5 on Deeds Plan numbered 198, lodged in the Deeds Registry Office at Wellington, being the land comprised and described in Certificate of Title, Volume 346, folio 54 (Wellington Registry); thence easterly and southerly along the northern and eastern boundaries of the land in the aforesaid certificate of title to the northern boundary of the land in the plan numbered 10928, deposited in the Land Registry Office at Wellington; thence easterly generally along that boundary to the eastern boundary of the aforesaid plan numbered 10928; thence northerly along the eastern boundary and westerly along the northern boundary of the land in Certificate of Title, Volume 479, folio 110 (Wellington Registry), being part Lot 4 on Deeds Plan numbered 198, lodged as aforesaid, to its intersection with a right line between the intersection of the middle lines of High Street and Solway Street and the intersection of the middle lines of West Bush Road and Railway Road; thence along that right line to the intersection of the middle lines of West Bush Road and Railway Road; thence north-westerly along a right line to the intersection of the north-eastern side of West Bush Road and the north-western side of Railway Road; thence north-easterly along the north-western side of Railway Road to its intersection with the middle line of Upper Plain Road; thence north-westerly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 1 on the plan numbered 5504, deposited as aforesaid; thence north-easterly to and along that boundary and south-easterly along the north-eastern boundaries of Lots 1, 2, 3, and 4 on the said plan numbered 5504 to the westernmost corner of the land comprised and described in Certificate of Title, Volume 326, folio 124; thence north-easterly and south-easterly along the north-western and north-eastern boundaries of the land in the aforesaid certificate of title to the north-western side of Ngaumutawa Road; thence north-easterly along the north-western side of that road to the south-western side of Akura Road; thence south-easterly along that side to meet a right line between the middle lines of Ngaumutawa Road and the road intersecting Lot 1 on the plan numbered 4017, deposited as aforesaid, and a point on the right bank of the Waipoua River in line with the north-western boundary of Section 31, Masterton Small Farms Settlement; thence along that right line aforesaid to the right bank of the Waipoua River aforesaid; thence southerly generally along that right bank to the south-eastern side of the Wellington-Napier Railway; thence north-easterly along that side to the point of commencement.

BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF MASTERTON
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point on the summit of the Tararua Range due west of the northernmost source of the Waingawa River; thence northerly generally along a line along the summit of the range to Mount Dundas; thence northerly along a right line in line with Mount Dundas and Arawaru Trig. Station to its intersection with a right line bearing 297° from Tawhero Trig. Station; thence south-easterly by that right line last mentioned to Tawhero Trig. Station; thence again south-easterly along the Tawhero Range to the western boundary of Section 9, Block IV, Mikimiki Survey District; thence southerly along that boundary and its production to the middle of the Ruamahanga River; thence south-easterly generally down the middle of that river to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Section 71, Block VIII, Mikimiki Survey District; thence north-easterly to and along that boundary, and easterly generally along the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of Section 71 aforesaid, the south-western boundary of Section 19, Block V, Kopuaranga Survey District, the northern boundary of Section 69, Opaki District; the western and northern boundaries of Section 27, Block V, Kopuaranga Survey District, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary across Jacksons Road to its eastern side; thence southerly along the eastern side of that road to the northern boundary of Section 70, Opaki District; thence easterly along that northern boundary, across a public road, and again by that northern boundary and its production to the middle of the Kopuaranga River; thence northerly up the middle of that river to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 51, Rangitumau District, thence easterly to and along that boundary and the northern boundaries of Sections 97, 98, and 99, Block V, Kopuaranga Survey District; thence northerly along the western boundaries of Sections 41 and 43, Block VI, northerly and easterly along the western and northern boundaries of Section 44, Block II, Kopuaranga Survey District, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary across Stuckey’s Road to its eastern side; thence southerly along that eastern side to the northern boundary of Section 42, Block VI, Kopuaranga Survey District; thence easterly along the northern boundary and southerly along the eastern boundary of Section 42
