NOTICE OF CHANGE OF SURNAME

KNOW all men by these presents (which are intended to be
enrolled in the Registry of the Supreme Court of New
Zealand at Whangarei) that I, THELMA BUCHANAN, of Auckland,
in New Zealand, Spinster, now lately called THELMA HUDD, do
hereby absolutely renounce and abandon the use of my former
surname of HUDD and in lieu thereof do assume and adopt the
surname of BUCHANAN so that I may henceforth be called and
known not by my former surname of HUDD but by my assumed
name of BUCHANAN, and for the purpose of evidencing such change
I hereby declare that I shall at all times henceforth in all actions
and proceedings, dealings, and transactions and upon all occasions
use and subscribe the surname of BUCHANAN in lieu of my former
surname of HUDD, and I hereby expressly authorize and request
all persons at all times henceforth to designate and address me by
my assumed surname of BUCHANAN accordingly.

NOTICE is hereby given that the partnership heretofore sub-
sisting between JOHN WILSON and PETER HUGH O’MALLEY,
both of Christchurch, carrying on business as Instructors in the
driving of motor-cars under the firm name of “Modern School of
Motor Driving,” has been dissolved by mutual consent as from the
15th day of June, 1949. All debts due to and owing by the said
late firm will be received and paid respectively by the said JOHN
WILSON, who will continue to carry on the said business on his
own account under the style or name of “Modern School of Motor
Driving.”

I, MELBOURNE COLE, of Clive, in the Provincial District of
Hawke’s Bay and Dominion of New Zealand, Market-gardener,
do hereby give notice that I have assumed and intend henceforth
upon all occasions and at all times to sign and use and be called and
known by the name of MELBOURNE COLE only in lieu of and sub-
stitution for my present name of RONALD CHONG : And I further
give notice that such intended change or assumption of name is
formally declared and evidenced by deed-poll under my hand and
seal dated this 26th day of January, 1950, and intended to be enrolled
in the Supreme Court office at Napier in the Dominion of New
Zealand.

In testimony whereof I do hereby sign and subscribe myself
by such my intended future name.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND FOR ROAD

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1928, and amendments
and the Counties Act, 1920, and amendments.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Waitemata County Council
proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned
Acts, to execute certain works—namely, the construction and
formation of a public road passing through or adjoining the several
parcels of land referred to hereunder, and situated in the Birkenhead
Riding of the County of Waitemata—and for the purpose of such
public works the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required
to be taken : And notice is hereby further given that plans of the
lands so required to be taken are deposited in the public office of the
clerk of the said council, situated at the Council Chambers, 1 Princess
Street, Auckland, and are open for inspection, without fee, by all
persons during ordinary office hours. All persons affected by the
execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said lands
must state their objection in writing and send the same, within
forty (40) days from the date of the first publication of this notice,
to the County Clerk, at the Council Chambers.

NORTH AUCKLAND ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD

RESOLUTION LEVYING SPECIAL RATE

Reticulation Loan, 1949, £75,000

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf
by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, and of all other powers
it thereunto enabling the North Auckland Electric-power Board
resolves as follows :—

“That, for the purpose of providing for the payment of the
principal, interest, and other charges on the Board’s Reticulation
Loan, 1949, of £75,000, authorized to be raised by the North Auckland
Electric-power Board under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose
of supplying and distributing electric energy for the benefit of the
constituent districts of Hobson County, Whangarei County, Ota-
matea County, Dargaville Borough, part Whangarei Borough, and
Hikurangi Town District within the North Auckland Electric-power
District, and for such purpose to do all or any of such matters and
things which the board is empowered to do by the Electric-power
Boards Act, 1925, and its amendments, and in particular, but without
limiting in any way any of the aforesaid powers, to provide, erect,
and construct additions and extensions to the present system of
electrical distribution and reticulation, to purchase plant, land,
easements, general equipment, and any existing electrical installation
and plant, to erect buildings, and to make provision for trading
purposes as provided by the said Act, the said North Auckland
Electric-power Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of
forty-three one-hundredths of one penny (43/100 d.) in the pound (£)
upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value)
of all rateable property of the aforesaid constituent districts of
Hobson County, Whangarei County, Otamatea County, Dargaville
Borough, part Whangarei Borough, and Hikurangi Town District,
