Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of Section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949
IN terms of section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949, the Minister of Transport doth hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.
SCHEDULE
SITUATED within Makara County—
All that area at Tawa Flat bounded by a line commencing at the junction of the southern boundary of Tawa Street with the eastern boundary of the Wellington-Paekakariki Centennial State Highway No. 34; proceeding thence in a southerly direction along the eastern boundary of the said State highway for a distance of 8 chains; proceeding thence by a right line in a westerly direction across the said State highway to its western boundary; proceeding thence in a northerly direction along the western boundary of the said State highway to its junction with the southern boundary of the Drive; proceeding thence in a westerly direction along a right line parallel to the southern boundary of Section 41, Block VII, Belmont Survey District, for a distance of 41 chains; proceeding thence in a northerly direction by a right line to a point 37 chains measured in a westerly direction along the southern boundary of Section 47, Block V, Belmont Survey District, from its junction with the western boundary of the Wellington-Paekakariki Centennial State Highway; proceeding thence in an easterly direction along the southern boundary of Section 47, Block V, Belmont Survey District and its prolongation to the eastern boundary of the said State highway; proceeding thence generally in a northerly direction along the eastern boundary of the said State highway to its junction with the southern boundary of Section 56, Block V, Belmont Survey District; proceeding thence along the said southern boundary of Section 56 to its junction with the western boundary of the Wellington-Foxton Motor-way; proceeding thence in a southerly direction along the western boundary of the Wellington-Foxton Motor-way to a point one chain, measured in a southerly direction, from its junction with the northern boundary of Section 40, Block VII, Belmont Survey District; proceeding thence by a right line to the commencing point; the boundaries of the whole area being further indicated by a green border on the plan marked TT. 1727, and deposited in the office of the Transport Department at Wellington.

The Lumsden – Te Anau - Milford Sound Main Highway No. 134, commencing at a point 40 chains measured along the said main highway in a north-easterly direction from its junction with Lakeside Road, and terminating at the junction of the said main highway with the Hillside – Manapouri - Te Anau Main Highway.

The Hillside – Manapouri - Te Anau Main Highway No. 248, commencing at a point 20 chains measured along the said main highway in a southerly direction from its junction with the Lumsden - Te Anau - Milford Sound Main Highway and terminating at the said junction.

Lakeside Road, commencing at its junction with the Lumsden - Te Anau - Milford Sound Main Highway and terminating at a point 1 mile 10 chains measured along the said road in a north-westerly direction from the said junction.

All that area adjacent to Invercargill City consisting of the Gore-Invercargill State Highway No. 62, commencing at the north-eastern boundary of Invercargill City and terminating at a point 5 chains measured along the said State highway in a north-easterly direction from its junction with Racecourse Road.

Exemption Order Under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940
PURSUANT to the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations, so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the person hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:—
A motor-driver's licence issued under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940 to the person described in Column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize him to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of his employment on a farm or market-garden of the employer described in Column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize him, while he is under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Amending Speed Limitations Imposed by Section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949
IN terms of section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Minister of Transport doth hereby revoke that portion of the Warrant dated the 21st day of December, 1936,* and that portion of the Warrant dated the 6th day of March, 1939†, which apply to the portions of roads described in the First Schedule hereto, and doth hereby exclude those portions of roads which are described in the Second Schedule hereto from limitation as to speed imposed by the said section.
FIRST SCHEDULE
SITUATED within Papatoetoe Town District :—

Mangere Bridge - Papatoetoe Main Highway No. 310 (all that portion from the western boundary of Papatoetoe Town District to a point on Station Road midway between the eastern and western junctions of Peveril Crescent with Station Road, a distance of approximately 50 chains). Situated within Papatoetoe Town District :—

Great South Road (all that portion commencing at the south-eastern boundary of Papatoetoe Town District as now constituted and terminating at a point 20 chains measured along the said main highway in a north-westerly direction from the said boundary).
SECOND SCHEDULE
SITUATED within Papatoetoe Borough :—

Auckland-Hamilton State Highway No. 7 (all that portion commencing at a point 3 chains measured along the said State highway in a north-westerly direction from its junction with Cornwall Road, and terminating at the northern boundary of Papatoetoe Borough, also all that portion commencing at a point 3 chains measured along the said State highway in a south-easterly direction from its junction with Birdwood Avenue, and terminating at the eastern boundary of Papatoetoe Borough).
