Crown Land Set Apart as Permanent State Forest Land

A PROCLAMATION

BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section 18 of the Forests Act, 1949, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby set apart the Crown land described in the Schedule hereto as permanent State forest land.

SCHEDULE

SOUTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—AUCKLAND CONSERVANCY

ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District, Ohinemuri County, containing by admeasurement 378 acres 0 roods 10 perches, more or less, being Section 15, Block VI, Ohinemuri Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 26/48, deposited in the Head Office of the New Zealand Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (South Auckland plan S.O. 30180.)

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 9th day of December, 1950.

Proclaiming Maori Land to Have Become Crown Land

A PROCLAMATION

PURSUANT to section 454 of the Maori Land Act, 1931, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, being satisfied that the purchase of the land described in the Schedule hereto has been completed by or on behalf of the Crown under the authority of the said Act, do hereby proclaim that the said land has become Crown land.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area in the Southland Land District, Wallace County, containing by admeasurement 8 acres, more or less, situated in Block VI, Longwood Survey District, and known as Section 14, being the land comprised and described in Deeds Index, Volume G, folio 144, Southland Registry. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.A. 32/1/49, deposited in the Head Office of the Department of Maori Affairs at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 8th day of December, 1950.

Varying a Proclamation Proclaiming a Tribal District Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945

A PROCLAMATION

PURSUANT to section 6 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby vary the Proclamation made on the 16th day of December, 1947, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the 8th day of January, 1948, at page 11, declaring certain parts of New Zealand to be a tribal district for the purposes of the said Act, by excluding from the Schedule thereto the description of the Maniapoto Tribal District and substituting therefor the description appearing in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

MANIAPOTO TRIBAL DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Auckland and Taranaki Land Districts, bounded by a line commencing at the mouth of the Waihekura Stream in Block III, Marokopa Survey District; thence proceeding easterly along a right line in the direction of Trig. Station T (Rock Peak) in Block I, Orahiri Survey District, to its intersection with the middle of the Waitomo Caves Main Highway; thence north-westerly generally along the middle of that Highway to its junction with Taumata-totara West Road and along a right line to Trig. Station Baldy in Block XIII, Kawhia North Survey District; thence north-easterly along a right line to the westernmost point of Te Motu in Kawhia Harbour, along the north-western shore of that island to its northernmost point and along a right line to Point Ellis, Block XI, Kawhia North Survey District; thence south-easterly generally along the shore of Kawhia Harbour, being the north-eastern boundary of part Section 12A, Pirongia West Block, to the boundary of part Section 12B, Pirongia West Block, along the boundary between the two last-mentioned sections, again along the shore of Kawhia Harbour to and up the middle of the Awaroa River to a point due west to the southernmost corner of Scenic Reserve Section 10, Block XI, Kawhia North Survey District, and along a right line to Trig. Station T (Rock Peak) aforesaid; thence easterly along a right line to the south-western corner of Orahiri No. 1A Block; thence south-easterly along a right line to Te Puhi Trig. Station in Block III, Orahiri Survey District, and a right line to the intersection of the south-eastern boundary of Pukeroa-Hangatiki No. 7c 2 Block with the middle of the Mangapu Stream, in Block VIII, Orahiri Survey District; thence northerly down the middle of the Mangapu Stream to its confluence with the Waipa River and down the middle of the Waipa River to its intersection with the production of the southern boundary of Section 18, Block XVI, Pirongia Survey District; thence north-easterly along a right line to the confluence of the Punui River and the Mangatutu Stream; thence up the middle of the Mangatutu Stream to a point in line with the southern boundary of the eastern portion of Rangitoto A No. 27B Block, in Block XIII, Wharepapa Survey District; thence easterly along a right line to Te Ranga Trig. Station in Block XIV, Wharepapa Survey District, and a right line to the confluence of the Waikato River with the Waipapa Stream; thence up the middle of the said stream to its confluence with the Waiteti Stream and up the middle of the said Waiteti Stream to its approximate source at peg CXXX on Survey Office plan 20946 (2) blue; thence south-westerly along a right line, bearing 209° 13′, distance 7,767 links; thence south-easterly along a right line bearing 169° 44′, distance 10,266 links, bearing 169° 5′, distance 3,508 links, as shown on the aforesaid plan; thence along the eastern and southern boundaries of Maraeroa A No. 3B Block to the intersection of the last-mentioned boundary with a right line drawn from the Rangitoto Trig. Station in Block IV, Pakaumanu Survey District, to the source of the Ongarue River; thence south-easterly along that line to the source of the Ongarue River; thence westerly along a right line to Trig. Station 1394 (Pukemako) in Block V, Hurakia Survey District; thence south-westerly along a right line to Trig. Station Z (Kopuha), in Block XIII, Ongarue Survey District; thence north-westerly along a right line to the intersection of the middle of the Waitataura Road with the middle of the Mapiu Road, in Block II, Tangitu Survey District; thence southerly along the middle of the Mapiu and Hiwi Roads and the middle of the road forming the southern boundary of Section 24, Block I, Tangitu Survey District to the northern boundary of Section 11, Block VI, Tangitu Survey District, the northern and western boundaries of Section 11, aforesaid, the western boundaries of Section 10, the western boundaries of part Section 1, and the northern boundaries of Section 21, all of Block VI, aforesaid; thence north-westerly generally along a right line across a public road, the north-eastern boundaries of Section 1, the eastern and northern boundaries of part Section 8, and Lot 1 of Section 8, all of Block V, Tangitu Survey District, a right line across a public road and along the southern boundary of Section 9, Block IV, Aria Survey District, to the easternmost corner of Section 6, Block IV, aforesaid; thence along the south-eastern boundary of Section 6, and the eastern boundary of Section 8, Block IV, aforesaid, to the south-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence westerly along the southern boundaries of Sections 8 and 7, Block IV, aforesaid, to the eastern boundary of Section 1, Block VIII, Aria Survey District; thence northerly along that boundary to the northernmost point of the said Section 1; thence along the northern boundaries of Blocks VIII and VII, the eastern and southern boundaries of Block VI, Aria Survey District, to the Puketawai Trig. Station; thence along the southern and western boundaries of Section 9, and the southern boundaries of Section 6, Block VI, aforesaid, to the Waitewhena Road; thence along the Waitewhena Road to the southern boundary of Section 8, Block V, Aria Survey District; thence along the southern and western boundaries of Section 8, and the southern boundaries of Sections 3 and 2, Block V, aforesaid, to the south-western corner of the last-mentioned section; thence along the eastern and southern boundaries of Section 11, Block V, aforesaid, to the western boundary of the Aria Survey District; thence southerly along the western boundary of the Aria Survey District, aforesaid, to its intersection with the Panirau Stream; thence down the middle of the Panirau Stream to the middle of the Mokau River; thence down the middle of the Mokau River to a point in line with the eastern boundary of the Mokau-Mohakatino 1G Block; thence to and along the said eastern boundary and the eastern boundary of Mokau-Mohakatino No. 1J Block, through Trig. Station Tawhitiraupeka to the Mohakatino Stream, and down that stream to its confluence with a stream intersecting the Mohakatino-Parininihi No. 1D East Block, the said confluence being near the westernmost corner of Section 1, Block III, Waro Survey District; thence up the latter stream to the Mohakatino Road, and along that road to the north-eastern corner of Section 6, Block VI, Waro Survey District; thence along the northern and south-western boundaries of that section and the western boundaries generally of sections 5, 4, and 3, Block VI, Waro Survey District, and the southern boundary of the said Section 3, and the western boundary of Section 1 (E.R.), Block VII, Waro Survey District, to the intersection of the last-mentioned boundary with the confiscation line (being a part of the southern boundary of the Waikato-Maniapoto Maori Land Court and the Maori Land District as described in the New Zealand Gazette 1914, page 1212); thence westerly along the confiscation line to the sea-coast at Parininihi (White Cliffs); thence northerly generally along the sea-coast to the mouth of the Waihekura Stream, the point of commencement.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 9th day of December, 1950.
