  1. Shunting Charges

Omit this regulation and substitute the following :—

  1. Shunting Charges

The classified or local rates or haulage charges on goods for shipment cover the placing of the wagons containing such goods at the ship's side. Where a request is made to the Department, either before or after the wagons are placed at the ship's side, for the wagons to be sorted for a particular hold or port of discharge, and such sorting necessitates additional shunting work beyond that which would ordinarily be required to place such wagons at the ship's side, or where, owing to a ship moving to another berth, wagons which have already been placed at the ship's side require to be moved to the ship's side in its new berth, the additional service will be charged for at the rate of £2 12s. 9d. per hour; minimum charge 13s. 4d. for each service.

  1. Miscellaneous

Add the following new paragraph :—

  1. In any case where the nature or condition of any goods is such that the charges prescribed are insufficient to meet the costs incurred by the Department in the receipt, sorting, handling, or delivery of the same, the costs so incurred by the Department will be payable in lieu of the charges prescribed.

Approval of Testing Officers Under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940

IN terms of regulation 5 of the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby approve of the persons named in Column 2 of the Schedule hereunder being Testing Officers under the said regulations for the authority specified in Column 1 of the said Schedule.

Exemption Order Under the Motor-drivers Regulations, 1940

PURSUANT to the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations, so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the person hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply :—

A motor-driver's licence issued under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940 to the person described in Column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize him to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of his employment on a farm or market-garden of the employer described in Column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize him, while he is under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Exemption Order Under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations, so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply :—

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of Section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949

IN terms of section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949, the Minister of Transport doth hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Waitemata County—

All that area at Orewa consisting of that portion of the Birkenhead-Maungaturoto State Highway No. 5 commencing at Grut's Bridge and terminating at the junction of the said State highway with Red Beach Road.

Standard Cost of Production of Apples and Pears for the 1950–51 Season

IN accordance with section 15 (2) of the Apple and Pear Marketing Act, 1948, I hereby declare the standard cost of production of apples and pears for the 1950–51 season to be 9s. 11·6846d. per case non-wrapped.

Change in Designation of Defence Rifle Club

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has approved that the designation of the Ohingaiti Defence Rifle Club, with headquarters at Ohingaiti, be changed to Pakirewa Defence Rifle Club, with headquarters at Ohingaiti. Dated 15th November, 1950.

Maternity Benefits for Patients in St. Helens Hospital, Wellington

PURSUANT to section 23 of the Social Security Amendment Act, 1950, I, Jack Thomas Watts, Minister of Health, approve of every woman to whom medical services are rendered in the State maternity hospital known as the St. Helens Hospital, in Wellington, by a medical practitioner selected by her, receiving maternity benefits under subsection (1) of section 95 of the Social Security Act, 1938, subject to the condition that such medical practitioner shall have entered into an agreement with the Medical Superintendent for the time being of the said hospital, acting on behalf of the Crown, in terms approved by me as to the conditions on which the medical practitioner is to be entitled to treat his patients in the said hospital.
