Appointments, Promotions, Transfers, and Retirements of Officers

THIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to
approve of the following appointments, promotions, transfers,
and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Military Forces :-

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARTILLERY
Regular Force-

Captain L. W. Wright to be temp. Major whilst holding the
appointment of Block Commander, Linton Camp. Dated 29th
August, 1950.

Territorial Force-

Captain J. B. Callan, 1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., to be
Major. Dated 29th August, 1950.

Captain I. J. Takle, 1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 1st Field
Regiment, R.N.Z.A., with the rank of Captain, with seniority from
28th February, 1948. Dated 8th October, 1950.

With reference to the notice published in the New Zealand
Gazette No. 54, dated 24th August, 1950, relative to temp. Captain
K. P. Wallis, for "is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General
List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery" substitute "is transferred to the
Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A.".

Lieutenant J. W. Jordan, 1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., to be
Captain. Dated 29th August, 1950.

Lieutenant M. B. McPherson, 15th Composite Anti-aircraft
Regiment, R.N.Z.A., to be Captain. Dated 1st September, 1950.

Lieutenant J. C. Bennett, 1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., to be
Captain. Dated 14th September, 1950.

Lieutenant J. W. Willis, 13 Composite Anti-aircraft Regiment,
R.N.Z.A., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List,
The Royal N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of Lieutenant, with
seniority from 1st July, 1943. Dated 24th October, 1950.

With reference to the notices published in the New Zealand
Gazette No. 44, relative to the transfers of officers, for "2nd
Lieutenant L. F. Maulstaid" substitute "2nd Lieutenant L. F.
Maultsaid".

2nd Lieutenant L. F. Maultsaid, 2nd Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A.,
to be Lieutenant. Dated 1st September, 1950.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS
Territorial Force-

Major L. Leeks, from the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List,
The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington's Own), to be Major,
with seniority from 4th August, 1947, and is posted to the 1st
Armoured Car Regiment (New Zealand Scottish), R.N.Z.A.C.
Dated 10th October, 1950.

Lieutenant W. A French, from the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, The Otago and Southland Regiment, to be Lieutenant,
with seniority from 15th April, 1945, and is posted to the 3rd
Armoured Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C. Dated 3rd October, 1950.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ENGINEERS
Regular Force-

Lieutenant-Colonel J. Brooke-White, O.B.E., to be Temp.
Colonel whilst holding the appointment of Officiating Quartermaster-General. Dated 8th November, 1950.

Territorial Force-

Captain L. G. Crawford, 3rd Field Squadron, R.N.Z.E., is
transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 1st Field
Engineer Regiment, R.N.Z.E., with the rank of Captain, with
seniority from 13th January, 1948. Dated 23rd October, 1950.

Captain C. J. Maindonald, from the Reserve of Officers,
Regimental List, 1st Field Engineer Regiment, R.N.Z.E., to be
Captain with seniority from 1st May, 1949, and is posted to the
5th Assault Squadron, R.N.Z.E. Dated 21st September, 1950.

Temp. Lieutenant N. A. Bannatyne, 1st Field Squadron,
R.N.Z.E., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental
List, 1st Field Engineer Regiment, R.N.Z.E., with the rank of
Lieutenant, with seniority from 14th May, 1944. Dated 3rd
November, 1950.

THE ROYAL N.Z. INFANTRY CORPS
Territorial Force-

The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly's Own)-

Major (temp. Lieutenant-Colonel) R. V. Closey, O.B.E., E.D.,
1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General
List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps, with the rank of Lieutenant-
Colonel, with seniority from 4th April, 1945. Dated 16th October,
1950.

Major A. Thomson, M.C., ceases to be seconded to the King's
College Cadets, Area 1, and is posted to the Retired List. Dated
30th October, 1950.

Temp. Major W. R. C. Saul, 1st Battalion, is transferred to
the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry
Corps, with the rank of Major, with seniority from 1st September,
1946. Dated 16th October, 1950.

Temp. Major H. C. A. Lambert, M.C., 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z.
Infantry Corps, with the rank of Major, with seniority from 28th
September, 1944. Dated 16th October, 1950.

Temp. Captain W. K. King, 1st Battalion, is transferred to
the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry
Corps, with the rank of Captain, with seniority from 4th June,
1943. Dated 13th October, 1950.

Temp. Lieutenant R. H. Walkley, 1st Battalion, is transferred
to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry
Corps, with the rank of Lieutenant with seniority from 4th November, 1942. Dated 16th October, 1950.

The Wellington Regiment (City of Wellington's Own)-

The appointment of temp. 2nd Lieutenant R. Seddon, seconded
to the Hutt Valley Memorial Technical College Cadets, lapses.
Dated 10th November, 1950.

The Wellington West Coast and Taranaki Regiment-

2nd Lieutenant N. F. Harre ceases to be seconded to the
Wanganui Technical College Cadets and is transferred to the Reserve
of Officers, Regimental List, The Auckland Regiment (Countess of
Ranfurly's Own), with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority
from 15th January, 1946. Dated 20th January, 1950.

The Otago and Southland Regiment-

Lieutenant D. N. McDonald, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the
Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, The Otago and Southland
Regiment, with the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 14th
November, 1943. Dated 19th September, 1950.

THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMY MEDICAL CORPS
Territorial Force-

Temp. Colonel R. A. Elliott, O.B.E., E.D., M.B., Ch.B.,
F.R.C.S. (Edin.), F.R.A.C.S., Assistant Director of Medical Services,
Central Military District, to be Colonel, with seniority from 25th
January, 1946. Dated 1st December, 1948.

Major J. D. Lough, M.B., Ch.B., 3rd General Hospital,
R.N.Z.A.M.C., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General
List, The Royal N.Z. Army Medical Corps, with the rank of Major,
with seniority from 3rd February, 1948. Dated 27th October, 1950.

Albert Matthew McGavin, B.Sc., M.B., Ch.B., late Major,
Indian Medical Service, to be Major, and is appointed Acting R.M.O.,
1st Battalion, The Hauraki Regiment, during the absence in the
United Kingdom of Captain P. W. Wishart, M.B., Ch.B. Dated
6th September, 1950.

Captain G. J. Frengley, M.B., Ch.B., is posted to the Retired
List. Dated 8th November, 1950.

N.Z. ARMY NURSING SERVICE
Territorial Force-
