The New Zealand National Airways Corporation By-laws Amended

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this llth day of October, 1950
Present:
THE RIGHT HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
Pursuant to subsection (2) of section 33 of the New Zealand National Airways Act, 1945, His Excellency the Governor-General acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby approve the amendments to by-laws made by the New Zealand National Airways Corporation pursuant to subsection (1) of the said section 33 on the 29th day of June, 1950,
and set out hereunder.

BY-LAWS

  1. THESE by-laws shall be read together with and form part of the by-laws made by the New Zealand National Airways Corporation on the 24th day of February, 1947* (hereinafter called the principal by-laws).

  2. The principal by-laws are hereby amended by revoking By-law 5 and substituting the following by-law:—

“Prohibited Cargo

“5. The carriage of any of the following articles as cargo on the aircraft of the Corporation is absolutely prohibited :—

“Acetone.
Acetylene (liquid).
Acids (except citric and tartaric).
Alcohol (pure).
Ammonia.
Ammonium bichromate.
Ammonium nitrate.
Ammonium persulphate.
Arrack.
Arsenic compounds.
Bisulphate of carbon.
Calcium carbide.
Camphine.
Camphor oil.
Carbonic acid (carbon dioxide).
Caustic soda (sodium hydroxide).
Celluloid, xylonite and other similar substances.
Chlorate of potash.
Chlorate of soda.
Collodion.
Cordite.
Eau Oxygenee.
Ether.
Ethyl Fluid.
Explosives of all kinds (including percussion caps).
Fulminating powder.
Fumigants.
Gasses under pressure.
Inodorous felt.
Lead nitrate.
Magnesium powder.
Matches (lucifer and percussion of all kinds).
Mercuric chloride.
Nitrate of lime.
Nitrate of soda.
Phosphorus.
Potassium chlorate.
Potassium cyanide.
Potassium permanganate.
Pyridine.
Pyrotechnics and rockets.
Quick lime (calcium oxide).
Rabbit and rat poisons.
Safety and dynamite fuses (with or without detonators).
Saltpetre.
Silicon.
Sodium and sodium compounds.
Sulphur.
Sulphur dioxide.
Any form of combustile material flashing under 73° F.”

Honorary Inspector of Scenic Reserves Appointed

In pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section 4 of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Percy Harold Henry Isaac Surrey to be an Honorary Inspector under the said Act.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this l3th day of October, 1950.

Officers Authorized to Attest Signatures of Maoris to Instruments of Alienation

Pursuant to section 268 of the Maori Land Act, 1931, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand do hereby notify and declare that—

Stanley James Lewis, Building Supervisor, Hamilton, Raymond Seal, Clerk-in-Charge, Hamilton, Clifford Lionel Hannan, Clerk-in-Charge, Hastings, Colin Hare Coldicutt, Clerk-in-Charge, Hawera, Bertram Joseph Hodgson, Building Supervisor, Kaikohe, Ronald William Arthur Yorke, Clerk-in-Charge, Kaikohe, Edwin Reade Robbins, Field Supervisor, Taumarunui, Wilson Watene, Clerk-in-Charge, Tauranga, Arthur Roy Lynds, Clerk-in-Charge, Te Kuiti, August Colin Carlson, Field Supervisor, Wairoa, Guy Wren Hansen, Building Supervisor, Wairoa, Jack Robert Clark, Building Supervisor, Whakatane, Frank Emlyn Morris Everett, Building Supervisor, Whangarei, and Arthur William George Plaisted, Clerk-in-Charge, Whangarei, being officers in the service of the Crown employed by the Department of Maori Affairs in the positions set out opposite their respective names, are authorized to attest, in accordance with the provisions of the said section 268, the signatures of Maoris to instruments of alienation of Maori land.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 16th day of October, 1950.

Whereas it is expedient that inquiries should be made into the justice and adequacy of the existing legislation with respect to war pensions and the necessity or expediency of amending that legislation:

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Commissions of Inquiry Act, 1908, and all other powers and authorities enabling me in this behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, do hereby nominate, constitute, and appoint you the said
