“Commanding Officer’s Report of Circumstances Where Claimant Discharged

“10. Where an officer or rating who has made a claim for compensation under this regulation is discharged before the claim has been satisfied, whether by payment or by replacement, a report of the circumstances shall be forwarded by his Commanding Officer to the Navy Office for consideration and for any necessary adjustment in assessing the compensation (if any).

“Death of Claimant

“11. Where an officer or rating who has made a claim for compensation under this regulation dies before the claim has been satisfied, no compensation shall be payable in respect of any articles of uniform, regulation kit, or equipment:

“Provided that if the claimant has incurred expenditure in replacing any such articles, a refund of the amount so expended may, subject to this regulation, be awarded to the personal representatives of the claimant.

“Recovery of Articles in Respect of Which Compensation Has Been Paid

“12. Where a claim for compensation under this regulation in respect of the loss of any article has been satisfied, whether by payment or by replacement, and that article is subsequently recovered, the officer or rating concerned shall forthwith return to the Navy Office any articles issued in replacement thereof or reimburse the Navy Office with the value of the article so issued, or, as the case may be, refund the amount of compensation paid in respect of the article so recovered:

“Provided that, if the article so recovered is in a damaged condition, the officer or rating may claim compensation in respect of that damage at any time within thirty days after the date of its recovery.

“Loss Caused by Infectious Disease

“13. Claims in respect of articles destroyed on the order of a competent authority to prevent the spread of an infectious or contagious disease are to be accompanied by a certificate from the competent authority stating the necessity for destroying those articles. Except in special circumstances, these claims need not be otherwise investigated or certified.”

PURSUANT to section 4 of the Military Decorations and Distinctive Badges Act, 1918, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby make the following order.


ORDER

  1. THIS Order may be cited as the Returned Services Associations Badge Order 1950.

  2. The badge described in the First Schedule hereto is hereby defined as the badge of the Returned Services Associations specified in the Second Schedule hereto, and is assigned to be worn as a distinctive mark only by the members of those Associations.


FIRST SCHEDULE

Definition of Badge of Returned Services Associations

A BADGE consisting of an oblong bar bearing the words “Returned Services” and surmounted by a crown between the letters “N” and “Z” and surmounting a segment of a circle bearing the word “Association”.
