At the Government House at Wellington, this 13th day of September, 1950

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 149 of the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion doth hereby consent to the Waikato County Council stopping the portions of road described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE areas of the pieces of road permitted to be stopped :—

Directing the Sale of Land in the City of Christchurch

At the Government House at Wellington, this 13th day of September, 1950

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act, 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby direct the sale of the land described in the Schedule hereto, such land being no longer required for the purpose for which it was acquired.

SCHEDULE

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land directed to be sold: 5·8 perches.

Being part Town Section 786.

Situated in the City of Christchurch (Canterbury R.D.). (S.O. 8181.)

Foreshore Licence: Slipway—Blackwood Bay—Queen Charlotte Sound—E. C. Swanson

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House at Wellington, this 6th day of September, 1950

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Harbours Act, 1923, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby license and permit Edward Cornwall Swanson (hereinafter called the licensee, which term shall include his executors, administrators, or assigns, unless the context requires a different construction), to use and occupy a part of the foreshore at Blackwood Bay in Queen Charlotte Sound, as shown on plan marked M.D. 9085, and deposited in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington, for the purpose of erecting and maintaining a slipway thereon as shown on the said plan, such licence to be held and enjoyed by the licensee upon and subject to the terms and conditions set forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

CONDITIONS

  1. This licence is subject to the Foreshore Licence Regulations 1940, and the provisions of those regulations shall, so far as applicable, apply hereto.

  2. The premium payable by the licensee shall be two pounds ten shillings (£2 10s.) and the annual sum so payable by the licensee shall be two pounds (£2).

  3. The term of the licence shall be fourteen years from the 1st day of September, 1950.

Increasing Number of Members of Rotorua Borough Council

ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government House at Wellington, this 13th day of September, 1950

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

WHEREAS by section 2 of the Rotorua Borough Amendment Act, 1925, provision is made for increasing the number of members of the Rotorua Borough Council in manner therein appearing:

And whereas, by Order in Council made on the 28th day of October, 1925, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 29th day of October, 1925, the number of members of the said Council was increased to nine Councillors (exclusive of the Mayor):

And whereas it is desirable that the number of members of the said Council be further increased:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on him by the Rotorua Borough Act, 1922, as amended by the Rotorua Borough Amendment Act, 1925, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice of the Executive Council, doth hereby order and declare that the total number of members of the Rotorua Borough Council shall be increased to eleven Councillors (exclusive of the Mayor); that the two additional Councillors shall be elected by the electors of the Borough of Rotorua; that the first election of such additional Councillors shall be held and take place on Saturday, the 18th day of November, 1950; and that the members of the Council to be so elected shall come into office on the day following the declaration by the Returning Officer of the candidates elected under section 32 of the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1925.

Conferring the Powers of a Tribal Executive Upon a Tribal Committee

At the Government House at Wellington, this 6th day of September, 1950

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 7 of the Maori Purposes Act, 1948, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby confer upon the Mangakino Tribal Committee all of the powers conferred upon a Tribal Executive by the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945, including the power to make by-laws, notwithstanding the provisions of section 19 or section 20 of that Act.

Setting Apart Maori Land as a Maori Reservation

At the Government House at Wellington, this 6th day of September, 1950

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 5 of the Maori Purposes Act, 1937, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby set apart and reserve the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Maori reservation for the common use of the Maoris of the Tai Tokerau as a marae.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area in the North Auckland Land District, situate in Block XIV, Maungataniwha Survey District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres, more or less, being the Maori Land Court subdivision known as Mangamuka West 3r. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked S.O. 9195, deposited in the Office of the Chief Surveyor at Auckland, and thereon signed red.
