Alterations to the Scale of Charges Upon the New Zealand Government Railways
IN pursuance of all powers and authorities enabling me under the Government Railways Act, 1949, and of all other powers enabling me in this behalf, I, William Stanley Goosman, Minister of Railways, do hereby make the following alterations to the General Scale of Charges made on the 13th day of April, 1939, and published in the Supplement dated the 19th day of April, 1939, to the New Zealand Gazette of the 13th day of April, 1939, in force on the New Zealand Government Railways open for traffic.
PASSENGERS
27. Theatrical, Concert, and Circus Companies
Paragraph 1 : Add :—
The minimum charge will be 2s. 6d. per passenger.
36. Restrictions on Travel by Specified Trains
Paragraph 2, Subparagraph (c) : omit the words "Through rail-car service from Wairoa to Wellington" and "Through rail-car service from Wellington to Gisborne" and substitute the following :—
"Through rail-car service from Napier to Wellington."
"Through rail-car service from Wellington to Gisborne."
LUGGAGE, PARCELS, ETC.
61. Dogs
Paragraph 14 : Omit this paragraph and substitute the following :—
- Dogs when conveyed in cattle trucks will be charged at the rate for dogs subject to a minimum charge per truck of half class M rate or, if cheaper, at the classified rate for cattle in truck loads.

Each consignment will be charged on the following basis :—
1 boat loaded on a 4-wheeled wagon—as 1 ton.
2 boats loaded on the same 4-wheeled wagon—as 1 ton 5 cwt.
3 or more boats loaded on the same 4-wheeled wagon—as 10 cwt. per boat.
(For the purpose of this classification, a bogie wagon will be treated as two 4-wheeled wagons.)
Dinghys, plastic . . . . . . (As boats, plastic).
Felt, laundry . . . . . . D less 25%.
Charges will be computed on half cubic measurement.
Fluting (upholstery materials in strips) . . . . . . C. Double rate.
Handlers, sheep (cradles for holding sheep) . . . . D less 25%.
Charges will be computed on half cubic measurement.
Implements, agricultural, assembled, as under :—
Hay tedders (side delivery rakes): Minimum 1 ton per machine . . . . . . C plus 20%.
Larvicide for bona fide use as a rabbit exterminator. Dangerous . . . . . . D.
Mats, tumbling . . . . . . C plus 50%.
Meters, electric, gas or water . . . . . . C.
Plastic wash-hand basins . . . . . . D less 25%.
Charges will be computed on half cubic measurement.
Post-hole diggers, mechanical, assembled (minimum charge as for 10 cwt. per unit) . . . . . . C plus 20%.
Racks, sheep feeding . . . . . . D less 25%.
Charges will be computed on half cubic measurement.
