Regional Planning Scheme for Dunedin

WHEREAS the local authorities whose names are set out in the First Schedule hereto, being local authorities having jurisdiction over adjoining districts, have resolved to unite for the purpose of preparing a regional planning scheme for the areas within their several jurisdictions defined in the Second Schedule hereto :

And whereas the Town-planning Board recommended that the area to be comprised in the regional planning scheme (hereinafter referred to as the region) should be extended to include the Borough of St. Kilda :

And whereas the Town-planning Board’s recommendation in relation to the constitution of the region so as to include the Borough of St. Kilda was communicated to the St. Kilda Borough Council on the 18th day of April, 1950, and the receipt thereof acknowledged on behalf of the said Council on the 10th day of May, 1950, after being received by the said Council at a meeting held on the 8th day of May, 1950 :

And whereas the St. Kilda Borough Council has failed to take the steps required to be taken by it for the constitution of the region :

Now, therefore, pursuant to section 8 of the Town-planning Amendment Act, 1929, notice is hereby given :—

(i) That the Town-planning Board has approved the resolutions of the local authorities whose names are set out in the First Schedule hereto (being local authorities having a jurisdiction over adjoining districts) to unite for the purpose of preparing a regional planning scheme for the area within their several jurisdictions defined in the Second Schedule hereto :

(ii) That in giving the approval, the Town-planning Board has extended the area to be dealt with in the regional planning scheme to include the Borough of St. Kilda being the area within the jurisdiction of the St. Kilda Borough Council ; and

(iii) That the area to be comprised in the regional planning scheme shall be that defined in the Third Schedule hereto :

And pursuant to section 15 of the Town-planning Amendment Act, 1929, notice is also hereby given that the Dunedin City Council shall be the principal local authority for the purposes of the preparation of the regional planning scheme and for matters incidental thereto.

SECOND SCHEDULE

AREA IN RESPECT OF WHICH LOCAL AUTHORITIES’ RESOLUTIONS ARE APPROVED

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, including the City of Dunedin, the Boroughs of Port Chalmers, West Harbour, Green Island, and Mosgiel, the Peninsula County and parts of the Counties of Taieri and Waikouaiti, and situated in the survey districts of Silverpeak, North Harbour and Blueskin, Lower Harbour West, North East Valley, Upper Harbour West, Tomahawk, Sawyers Bay, Andersons Bay, Portobello Bay, Otago Peninsula, Upper Harbour East, Dunedin and East Taieri, East Taieri, Town, Upper Kaikorai, Lower Kaikorai, Wakari, Ocean Beach, Green Island Bush, and Otokia, bounded as follows :—

Commencing at the north-eastern corner of Block II, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, thence south-westerly generally along the south-eastern boundary of the Waikouaiti Survey District to the south-western corner of Block II, Waikouaiti Survey District, thence south-westerly generally along the main ridge through Trigs. D and B to Trig. L (Boulder Hill), thence south-westerly generally along the western side of a road forming the eastern or southern boundary of sections 54, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 25, 56, and 6, Block II, and sections 21, 2 of 23, 1 of 23, 24, 14, 13, 9, 8, 3, 2, 44, and 1, Block I, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District, thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of the said Section 1 to the Taieri River, thence southerly generally along the eastern bank of the said river to the north-western corner of the area defined in New Zealand Gazette 1949, page 1836, as the area for the Taieri County Council’s Extra-urban Planning Scheme, thence south-easterly generally along the western boundary of the said Extra-urban Planning Scheme to the Pacific Ocean, thence north-easterly generally along the highwater mark of the said Pacific Ocean to Taiaroa Head, thence south-easterly generally along the highwater mark of the Otago Harbour to the boundary of the City of Dunedin, thence northerly generally along the seaward boundaries of the City of Dunedin, the Borough of West Harbour, the Borough of Port Chalmers, and the County of Waikouaiti to the point of commencement, but excluding therefrom all the land within the Borough of St. Kilda.
