Reorganization of the Territorial Force
Army Department,
Wellington 23rd May, 1950.
HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the following amendments to the notice published in New Zealand Gazette No. 55, dated 21st October, 1948:—
REORGANIZATION OF THE TERRITORIAL FORCE
WHEREAS by notice published in New Zealand Gazette No. 55, appearing at pages 1298 and 1299, dated 21st October, 1948, His Excellency the Governor-General was pleased to approve, under section 6 (a), Defence Act, 1909, of the reorganization of the Territorial Force; and whereas by reason of further reorganization of the New Zealand Army the said Gazette notice requires amending:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve that the said Gazette Notice of 21st October, 1948, be amended as follows:—
Units Redesignated
(i) By deleting “1st Divisional Regiment RNZAC (New Zealand Scottish)” in the second column, and substituting “1st Armoured Car Regiment (New Zealand Scottish) RNZAC”.
(ii) By deleting “3rd Field Squadron RNZE” in the second column, and substituting “5th Assault Squadron RNZE”.
(iii) By deleting “1st, 2nd, and 3rd Composite Squadrons RNZ Sigs.” in the second column, and substituting “1st, 2nd, and 3rd Squadrons (Composite) RNZ Sigs.” respectively.
(iv) By deleting “1st, 2nd, and 3rd Divisional Transport Companies RNZASC” in the second column, and substituting “1st, 2nd, and 3rd Companies RNZASC” respectively.
(v) By deleting “1st, 2nd, and 3rd Dental Depots RNZADC” in the second column, and substituting “1st, 2nd, and 3rd Mobile Dental Units RNZDC” respectively.
Units Amalgamated and Redesignated
By deleting “1st Armoured Regiment RNZAC (Waikato)” in the second column, and substituting “1st Armoured Regiment (Waikato) RNZAC”.
New Units Formed
(i) By deleting “5th Anti-tank Regiment RNZA”.
(ii) By adding “1st Heavy Mortar Battery RNZA” immediately after “1st Locating Battery RNZA”.
(iii) By adding “3rd Field Squadron RNZE” immediately after “Headquarters 1st Field Engineer Regiment RNZE”.
(iv) By deleting “5th Assault Squadron RNZE”.
(v) By deleting “4th Divisional Transport Company RNZASC” and substituting “4th Company RNZASC”.
(vi) By adding “5th Company RNZASC” immediately after “4th Company RNZASC”.
(vii) By adding “6th Company RNZASC” immediately after 5th Company RNZASC”.
(viii) By deleting “1st Central Hospital RNZAMC” and substituting “1st General Hospital RNZAMC”.
(ix) By adding “1st, 2nd, and 3rd Field Hygiene Sections RNZAMC” respectively in sequence immediately after “1st Casualty Clearing Station RNZAMC”.
(x) By adding “1st Armoured Brigade Ordnance Field Park Platoon RNZAOC” immediately after “3rd Infantry Brigade Ordnance Field Park Platoon RNZAOC”.
(xi) By deleting “1st, 2nd, and 3rd Infantry Workshops RNZEME” and substituting “1st, 2nd, and 3rd Infantry Workshops (Composite) RNZEME” respectively.
(xii) By deleting “5th Anti-tank Regiment Light Aid Detachment RNZEME”.

Revolving a Warrant Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality and Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of Section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949
IN terms of section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949, the Minister of Transport doth hereby revoke the Warrant dated the 12th day of May, 1938*, which refers to part of the area described in the Schedule hereto, and doth hereby declare the area described in the said Schedule to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SITUATED within Manawatu County—
All that area of Foxton Beach Township and also that portion of the Foxton Beach Main Highway No. 436, commencing at its junction with Linklater Avenue and terminating at a point 48 chains measured along the said main highway generally in a south-easterly direction from the said junction.

PURSUANT to Regulation 3 (5) of the Heavy Motor-vehicle Regulations 1950, the Minister of Transport doth hereby approve the Hobson County Council’s proposed classification of the roads described in the Schedule hereto and situated in the Hobson County.
