PURSUANT to the authority conferred upon me by section 301 of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify and declare that the persons whose names are set out in the Schedule hereto, being officers in the service of the Crown holding the offices stated opposite their names respectively in the said Schedule, are authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under section 301 of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.

Regular Force—
Captain and Quartermaster A. L. Smith, having reached the normal age for retirement, is transferred to the Supernumerary List, N.Z. Regular Force, with his present rank and seniority. Dated 9th May, 1950.
Territorial Force—
Lieutenant D. L. Simpson, 1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., to be Captain. Dated 1st August, 1949.
Temp. Lieutenant T. G. Moorcraft, 1st Field Regiment, R.N.Z.A., to be Captain, with seniority from 1st May, 1946, and is seconded to the Mount Albert Grammar School Cadets, Area 1. Dated 27th February, 1950.
Lieutenant N.M. Thomson, 9th Coast Regiment, R.N.Z.A., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 9th Coast Regiment, R.N.Z.A., with the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 21st July, 1948. Dated 26th March, 1950.
Temp. 2nd Lieutenant J. W. Hayward, late 24th Composite Anti-aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A., resigns his commission. Dated 10th February, 1950.
Temp. 2nd Lieutenant I. M. Hamilton, late 24th Composite Anti-aircraft Regiment, R.N.Z.A., is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Artillery, with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 9th May, 1942. Dated 1st May, 1949.
THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMoured Corps
Territorial Force—
Major K. L. Brown, D.S.O., 1st Divisional Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C. (New Zealand Scottish), to be Lieutenant-Colonel and is appointed C.O., 1st Divisional Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C. (New Zealand Scottish). Dated 20th April, 1950.
Lieutenant G. S. Hampton, 1st Armoured Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato), is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, Regimental List, 1st Armoured Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato), with the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 23rd March, 1946. Dated 4th April, 1950.
2nd Lieutenant R. G. McMillan, 1st Divisional Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C. (New Zealand Scottish), to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 21st February, 1947. Dated 2nd May, 1950.
2nd Lieutenant D. J. Adams, from the Retired List, to be 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 15th October, 1947, and is posted to the 1st Armoured Regiment, R.N.Z.A.C. (Waikato). Dated 1st December, 1948.
THE ROYAL N.Z. ENGINEERS
Territorial Force—
2nd Lieutenant A. R. Black, 3rd Field Squadron, R.N.Z.E., to be Lieutenant. Dated 1st December, 1948.
Llewelyn Charles Livingston Pryce, late Flight Lieutenant, R.N.Z.A.F., to be Lieutenant and is posted to the 5th Assault Squadron, R.N.Z.E. Dated 1st December, 1949.
THE ROYAL N.Z. INFANTRY CORPS
Regular Force—
N.Z. Regiment—
Major W. F. Titchener, M.C., is transferred to the Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly's Own). Dated 10th March, 1950.
Arthur Peter Gurnsey is granted a short-service commission for a period of three years as from 27th March, 1950, in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 27th March, 1946, and is appointed Education Officer, Headquarters, Southern Military District, Christchurch. Dated 27th March, 1950.
Desmond John Coleman is granted a short-service commission for a period of five years as from 17th April, 1950, in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 17th April, 1946, and is appointed Personnel Selection Officer, Linton Camp. Dated 17th April, 1950.
Territorial Force—
The Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly's Own)—
Major W. F. Titchener, M.C., from the N.Z. Regiment, to be Major, with seniority from 20th February, 1945, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 10th March, 1950.
Rodger Elliot Kempthorne Barton to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) and is seconded to the Northcote College Cadets, Area 1. Dated 6th February, 1950.
The Hauraki Regiment—
Lieutenant I. L. Faulkner, from the Reserve of Officers, Supplementary List, to be Captain, with seniority from 30th October, 1947, and is posted to the 1st Battalion. Dated 1st December, 1948.
Temp. Lieutenant R. W. Atmore to be Captain and remains seconded to the Otorohanga District High School Cadets. Dated 27th March, 1950.
Temp. Lieutenant M. K. Hanan, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps, with the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 12th June, 1944. Dated 24th March, 1950.
2nd Lieutenant G. N. Frear to be Lieutenant and remains seconded to the Waihi District High School Cadets. Dated 4th February, 1949.
Temp. 2nd Lieutenant L. A. O. Davies, 1st Battalion, is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Infantry Corps, with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from 27th January, 1943. Dated 31st December, 1949.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) D. O. Hawkins, seconded to the Hamilton Technical College Cadets, is confirmed.
The North Auckland Regiment—
Captain I. McD. Matheson, 1st Battalion, to be Major. Dated 1st April, 1950.
The Hawke’s Bay Regiment—
Henry Ian Smith to be 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) and is seconded to the Waipukurau District High School Cadets, Area 7. Dated 22nd April, 1950.
The Nelson, Marlborough, and West Coast Regiment—
Captain H. P. Glen, E.D., to be Temp. Major, and remains seconded to the Marlborough College Cadets. Dated 1st December, 1949.
The Otago and Southland Regiment—
2nd Lieutenant A. H. Foster to be Lieutenant and remains seconded to the John McGlashan College Cadets. Dated 6th April, 1950.
THE ROYAL N.Z. ARMY MEDICAL CORPS
Territorial Force—
Lieutenant (temp. Colonel) R. D. King, C.B.E., D.S.O., M.D., M.R.C.P. (Lond.), is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, The Royal N.Z. Army Medical Corps, with the rank of Colonel, with seniority from 15th July, 1943. Dated 3rd May, 1950.
Temp. Lieutenant-Colonel W. M. Manchester, M.B., Ch.B., is posted to the Retired List with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. Dated 28th April, 1950.
