ELECTION OF MEMBERS TO THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS
(Under authority Canterbury Agricultural College Amendment Act, 1949)
I HEREBY give public notice of the results of the election held on Monday, the 5th day of December, 1949, to fill three vacancies on the Board of Governors of Canterbury Agricultural College, as follows:—
Three members to be elected by such of the members of the Legislative Council as are for the time being resident in the Provincial District of Canterbury, together with such of the members of the House of Representatives as for the time being represent electoral districts wholly or partly within the said provincial district—

Under authority of section 29 of the by-laws for the conduct of election of members of the Board of Governors, a casting vote was given by Harold Gordon Hunt, Returning Officer, with regard to Richard Geoffrey Gerard and William Henry Gillespie, being determined by lot in the presence of Geoffrey Gordon Rich and George William Reginald Osborne, members of the Board of Governors, William Henry Gillespie being successful.
I hereby declare Clyde Leonard Carr, Ernest Allan Sharp, and William Henry Gillespie to be duly elected to hold office subject to the provision of the Canterbury Agricultural College Amendment Act, 1949.

BALCLUTHA BOROUGH COUNCIL
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Balclutha Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:—
“That, for the purpose of providing the interest, principal, and other charges on a loan of £1,550 to be known as ‘Baths Improvement Loan, 1948,’ authorized to be raised by the Balclutha Borough Council under the above-mentioned Act, and the Physical Welfare and Recreation Act, 1937, for the purpose of improving the borough baths, the said Balclutha Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of four-fifteenths of a penny (4/15d.) in the pound upon the rateable value (on the basis of the unimproved value) of all rateable property in the Borough of Balclutha, and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of fifteen years or until the loan is fully paid off.”
The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Balclutha was hereto affixed at the offices of and pursuant to a resolution of the Balclutha Borough Council in the presence of—

STATUTORY REGULATIONS
UNDER the Regulations Act, 1936, statutory regulations of general legislative force are no longer published in the New Zealand Gazette, but are supplied under any one or more of the following arrangements:—
(1) All regulations serially as issued (punched for filing), subscription £1 12s. 6d. per calendar year in advance.
(2) Annual volume (including index) bound in buckram, £1 5s. (Volumes for years 1941 and 1942 are out of print.)
(3) Serially as issued and annual bound volume, as in (1) and (2) above, on combined subscription basis, £2 7s. 6d. per calendar year in advance.
(4) Separate regulations as issued.
The price of each regulation is printed thereon, facilitating the purchase of extra copies.
Orders on the subscription basis should be placed with the Government Printer, Wellington. Separate copies may be purchased at the Chief Post-offices at Auckland, Christchurch, or Dunedin.

Single copies of the Gazette as follows:—
For the first 8 pages, 6d., increasing by 3d. for every subsequent 8 pages or part thereof; postage, 1d.
Advertisements are charged at the rate of 6d. per line for the first insertion, and 3d. per line for the second and any subsequent insertions.
All advertisements should be written on one side of the paper, and signatures, &c., should be written in a legible hand.
The number of insertions required must be written across the face of the advertisement.
The New Zealand Gazette is published on Thursday evening of each week, and notices for insertion must be received by the Government Printer before 12 o’clock of the day preceding publication.
