Declaring Parts of a Tribal District to be Tribal Committee Areas Under the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945
PURSUANT to section 14 of the Maori Social and Economic Advancement Act, 1945, I, Ernest Bowyer Corbett, Minister of Maori Affairs, do hereby declare the parts of the tribal district described in the Schedule hereto to be tribal committee areas for the purposes of the said Act, and do hereby assign to each of the several areas the name appearing at the head of the description of each such area.
SCHEDULE
MANUKAU TRIBAL DISTRICT
Tamaki-Makaurau Tribal Committee Area
ALL that area in the Manukau Tribal District bounded by a line commencing at a point in Block VI, Otahuhu Survey District, being the point of intersection of the middle of Massey Road with the middle of the North Island Main Trunk Railway and running south-easterly generally along the middle of the aforesaid railway to a point in line with the southern boundary of Lot 13, as shown on the plan numbered 28571, deposited in the Land Registry Office at Auckland, being part of Allotment 4 of Clendon’s Grant, Parish of Papakura; thence along a right line to and along the southern boundary of Lot 13 aforesaid, along the southern boundary of Lot 10, as shown on the aforesaid plan numbered 28571 and along a right line across Roscommon Road, to and down the right bank of the stream forming the northern boundary of part of Allotment 6, of the aforesaid Clendon’s Grant, as shown on the plan numbered 22737, deposited as aforesaid, to and along the right bank of the Puhinui Creek to the line of mean high-water spring tide of the Manukau Harbour; thence north-westerly and north-easterly generally along the line of mean high-water aforesaid, to the middle of Ascot Road; thence easterly generally along the middle of Ascot Road aforesaid, to and along the middle of Massey Road to the point of commencement, including therein Wiroa and Puketutu or Week’s Islands.
Rere-o-te Whioi Tribal Committee Area
All that area in the Manukau Tribal District bounded by a line commencing at a point in Block XIII, Titirangi Survey District, being the South Head of the Manukau Harbour and running easterly and southerly generally along the line of mean high-water spring tide of the Manukau Harbour aforesaid, to and up the middle of the Waiuku River, up the middle of Te Hakono Creek, to and along the middle of the Kohekohe-Waiuku and the middle of the Waiuku-Otawa Main Highways, to and down the middle of the Awaroa River to the right bank of the Waikato River; thence south-westerly generally along the right bank of the Waikato River aforesaid to the sea; thence north-westerly generally along the sea-coast to the South Head of the Manukau Harbour, being the point of commencement.
Tahuna Tribal Committee Area
All that area in the Manukau Tribal District bounded by a line commencing at a point in Block IX, Awhitu Survey District, being the confluence of the Waiuku and Taihiki Rivers and running easterly generally up the middle of the said Taihiki River to the middle of the Waiuku-Paerata Junction Road; thence south-easterly generally along the right line to the north-western corner of Section 13s of Puni Settlement, and being situated in Block II, Onewhero Survey District; thence southerly generally along the western boundary of Section 13s aforesaid, to the right bank of the Waikato River; thence south-westerly generally along the right bank of the aforesaid Waikato River to the south-eastern corner of the Rere-o-te Whioi Tribal Committee Area; thence northerly generally along the eastern boundary of the Rere-o-te-Whioi Tribal Committee Area, as hereinbefore described to the point of commencement.
Pukekohe Tribal Committee Area
All that area in the Manukau Tribal District bounded by a line commencing at a point in Block IV, Drury Survey District, being a point in the middle of the Hingaia Creek and in line with the southern boundary of Lot 10 as shown on the plan numbered 12364, deposited in the Land Registry Office at Auckland, being part of Allotment 36, Opaheke Parish, and running south-easterly generally along a right line to the easternmost corner of Allotment 53 of the aforesaid Opaheke Parish and being situated in Block IX, Opaheke Survey District; thence south-westerly generally along a right line to the northernmost corner of part of Allotment 9 of Pukekohe Parish, as shown on the plan numbered 3811, deposited as aforesaid, and being situated in Block III, Onewhero Survey District; thence southerly generally along another right line to the northernmost corner of Allotment 106 of Tuakau Parish; thence south-westerly generally along the north-western boundary of Allotment 106, aforesaid, and along a right line, being that boundary produced to the right bank of the Waikato River; thence westerly generally along the right bank of the aforesaid Waikato River to the easternmost corner of the Tahuna Tribal Committee Area; thence north-westerly generally along the north-eastern boundary of the Tahuna Tribal Committee Area, as hereinbefore described, to and along the eastern boundary of the Rere-o-te-Whioi Tribal Committee Area as hereinbefore described to the line of mean high-water spring tide of the Manukau Harbour; thence easterly generally along the line of mean high-water spring tide of the aforesaid Manukau Harbour and the Pahurehure Inlet, to and up the middle of the Hingaia Creek to the point of commencement.
