Revoking Proclamation Declaring a Prison

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, in pursuance of the powers vested in him by section four of the Prisons Act, 1908, the Governor-General did, by Proclamation dated the twenty-second day of February, one thousand nine hundred and fifty, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the second day of March, one thousand nine hundred and fifty, declare all buildings and enclosures and land as described in the Schedule thereto to be a prison, known as the Picton Prison:

And whereas it is expedient that the said Proclamation should be revoked:

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers and authority vested in me, do hereby revoke the said Proclamation as from the date of publication of this Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 23rd day of March, 1950.

Prison Proclaimed

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled the Prisons Act, 1908, it is provided that the Governor-General may from time to time by Proclamation declare any house, building, enclosure, or place to be a prison; and that from and after the gazetting of any such Proclamation, or from any later time specified therein, such house, building, enclosure, or place shall be deemed to be a prison:

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the above-recited power and authority, do hereby declare that the area of land described in the Schedule hereto, and all buildings and enclosures used or occupied therewith, shall, from and after the date of the publication of this Proclamation in the Gazette, be a prison to be known as the Picton Prison, within the meaning and for the purposes of the Prisons Act, 1908,

SCHEDULE

MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT

ALL that area containing by admeasurement 2 acres 1 rood 19·38 perches, more or less, situated in the Borough of Picton and being part of Sections 483 and 1155, Town of Picton, and part old bed Waitohi Stream (S.O. Plan 3926), also all that area containing by admeasurement 14 perches, more or less, situated in the Borough of Picton, being Lot 2 on D.P. 1453 and being part of Sections 336 and 337 and part of old Waitohi river-bed, Town of Picton.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 23rd day of March, 1950.

Crown Land Set Apart as Permanent State Forest Land

A PROCLAMATION

BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section eighteen of the Forests Act, 1949, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby set apart the Crown land described in the Schedule hereto as permanent State forest land.


SCHEDULE

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT.—WELLINGTON CONSERVANCY

ALL that area in Wellington Land District, Kaitieke County, containing by admeasurement 6 acres 1 rood 35·5 perches, more or less, being Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11, Block V, Town of Kakahi, situated in Block VI, Hunua Survey District. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan No. 52/17, deposited in the Head Office of the New Zealand Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. (Wellington plan S.O. 16929.)

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 24th day of March, 1950.
