Appointing Wednesday as the Statutory Closing-day in the Sumner Area of the City of Christchurch

WHEREAS the Mayor of the City of Christchurch, pursuant to the provisions of the Shops and Offices Act, 1921–22, as amended by section 4 of the Shops and Offices Amendment Act, 1945, has duly notified the Minister of Labour that, in respect of the Sumner area of the City of Christchurch as defined by the said section 4, the Christchurch City Council has decided upon Wednesday as the statutory closing-day for shops in such area:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers in this behalf conferred upon him by the said Act and amendment, the Minister of Labour doth hereby appoint Wednesday as the Statutory closing-day for shops in the said area on and from the 13th day of March, 1950.

Exemption Order Under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the said regulations so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:—

A motor-driver’s licence issued under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940 to any one of the persons described in column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorize him to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of his employment on a farm or market garden of the respective employer described in column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorize him, while he is under the age of eighteen years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.

Exemption Order Under the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940

PURSUANT to the Motor-drivers Regulations 1940, the Minister of Transport doth hereby order and declare that the provisions of clause (1) of Regulation 7 of the said regulations so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors, shall not apply to the persons hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:—

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of Section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949

IN terms of section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949, the Minister of Transport doth hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Takaka County—

All that area at Upper Takaka consisting of the Richmond-Collingwood State Highway No. 53, commencing at a point 9 chains measured along the said State highway in an easterly direction from its junction with the Cobb Valley Road, and terminating at a point 55 chains measured along the said State highway in a northerly direction from the said junction, a distance of approximately 64 chains.

Declaring Area to be a Closely Populated Locality for the Purposes of Section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949

IN terms of section 36 of the Transport Act, 1949, the Minister of Transport doth hereby declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.

SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Taranaki County—

All that area adjacent to New Plymouth City consisting of that portion of Lower Mangorei Main Highway No. 357 commencing at the southern boundary of New Plymouth City and terminating at a point 40 chains measured along the said main highway, generally in a south-easterly direction from the said boundary.
