At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this 22nd day of February, 1950
Present:
THE HON. S. G. HOLLAND PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
Pursuant to section five of the Maori Purposes Act, 1937,
His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby set apart and reserve the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Maori reservation for the common use of the Ngati Hinekura Tribe as a meeting-house reserve.

Varying an Order in Council Prohibiting Alienation of Certain Maori Lands or Lands Owned by Maoris

Pursuant to section one hundred and sixty-seven of the Maori Land Act, 1931, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby vary an Order in Council made on the fourth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, and published in the Gazette on the seventh day of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, at pages 735, 736, and 737, and affecting Hauturu East B 2, Section 2A, 1A, and other blocks, by excluding therefrom the land described in the Schedule thereto as Kinohaku East 4B 1, containing an area of 112 acres 3 roods 5 perches.

Pursuant to section one hundred and sixty-seven of the Maori Land Act, 1931, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby vary the Order in Council made on the seventh day of May, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-seven, and published in the Gazette on the twentieth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-seven, at page 1162, and affecting Kinohaku West E 1B 2 and other blocks, by excluding therefrom the land described in the Schedule thereto as Orahiri J 2 (balance), Otorehanga Maori Township, containing an area of 1 acre 22.8 perches, now known as Orahiri J J 1.

Pursuant to section one hundred and sixty-seven of the Maori Land Act, 1931, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby revoke the Order in Council made on the seventeenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, and published in the Gazette on the twentieth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and thirty-two, at page 2140, and affecting Rangitoto-Tutua 20a 2, and other blocks.

Appointing Additional Member to New Plymouth Scenic Reserves Board

WHEREAS by a Warrant dated the twenty-third day of March, one thousand nine hundred and forty-nine, and published in the Gazette of the thirty-first day of that month, the control of reserves in the Taranaki Land District, known as the New Plymouth Scenic Reserves was vested in certain persons therein named, who were by the said Warrant constituted a special Board by the name of the New Plymouth Scenic Reserves Board, in pursuance of section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908:
And whereas it is considered desirable that the membership of the said Board should be increased:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in this behalf, doth hereby appoint
Arthur Chitty Russell Anderson
to be an additional member of the New Plymouth Scenic Reserves Board hereinbefore referred to as from the first day of March, one thousand nine hundred and fifty.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 28th day of February, 1950.

Honorary Inspector of Scenic Reserves Appointed

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section four of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint
Newton Howe Giddy
to be an Honorary Inspector under the said Act.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 24th day of February, 1950.

Vesting the Control of a Scenic Reserve in the Peninsula County Council

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the said Act), His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the scenic reserve described in the Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act) in the Peninsula County Council, subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is to say:-

  1. The period for which the control of the reserve is hereby vested shall be five years from the date hereof, unless the reservation is previously altered or revoked under the said Act.
  2. The said Council shall prepare a report each year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the said reserve. Such report and statement shall be sent to the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act as soon as possible after the close of the year.
  3. The said Council shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.
    SCHEDULE
    OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.-TITEREMOANA SCENIC RESERVE
    ALL that area containing by admeasurement 2 acres, more or less, being an island in Otago Harbour lying between Edward's and Latham Bays and formerly known as Pudding Island. As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 484, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
    As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this 24th day of February, 1950.
