Special Order Made by the Waitotara County Council Declaring That Sections 121 and 131 of the Counties Act, 1920, Shall not Apply to That Council

THE following special order made by the Waitotara County Council is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Amendment Act, 1931.

SPECIAL ORDER
"That, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 2 of the Counties Amendment Act, 1931, the Waitotara County Council hereby resolves and declares, by way of special order, as follows:—
"That sections 121 and 131 of the Counties Act, 1920, shall not apply to the Council of the County of Waitotara, such order to take effect as from and including the 1st day of April, 1949."
I hereby certify that the above special order has been duly made.

Notice of Intention to Take Land in Block XV, Christchurch Survey District, for Post and Telegraph Purposes (Wireless Station)
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a wireless station for Post and Telegraph purposes—and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Christchurch and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 2 acres 0 roods 31·8 perches.
Being part Lot 1, D.P. 11796, part Rural Sections 36833 and 34653. Situated in Block XV, Christchurch Survey District (Canterbury R.D.).
In the Canterbury Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 128473, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Agreement for Grant of Easement (Right-of-way) in Favour of the Scala Theatre Company, Limited, a Company Incorporated Under the Companies Act, 1933, and Having its Registered Office at Wellington, Over Land in the City of Wellington, Taken for a Public Work, Assented to
WHEREAS by a Proclamation dated the 28th day of May, 1948, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 3rd day of June, 1948, all that parcel of land containing approximately 12·71 perches, situate in the City of Wellington, being part Lot 9, Deposited Plan 63, and being part Section 940, Town of Wellington, was taken for a public work:
And whereas the Scala Theatre Company, Limited, a company incorporated under the Companies Act, 1933, and having its registered office at Wellington, is entitled to compensation for its freehold interest in the said area of 12·71 perches:
And whereas the Minister of Works has agreed to grant to the said company a 12 ft. right-of-way along the southern boundary of the said part Lot 9 in part satisfaction of the compensation aforesaid, and to provide a sum of money in satisfaction of the residue of the said compensation:
And whereas the Scala Theatre Company, Limited, has agreed to accept such grant of easement and sum of money in full satisfaction of the said compensation:
Now, therefore, the Minister of Works doth hereby give notice, in pursuance of section 97 of the Public Works Act, 1928, that he assents to the agreement hereinbefore referred to.

Declaring Areas to be Closely Populated Localities for the Purposes of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, Section 3
IN terms of section 3 of the Motor-vehicles Amendment Act, 1936, the Minister of Transport doth hereby declare the areas described in the Schedule hereto to be closely populated localities for the purposes of the said section to the intent that a person driving any motor-vehicle on any road, street, or other place to which the public have access therein shall be subject to the maximum speed limit of thirty miles an hour fixed by the said section.
SCHEDULE
SITUATED within Buller County—
All those areas adjacent to Westport Borough, consisting of those portions of roads hereinafter described:—
(1) Nelson-Westport State Highway No. 54, commencing at the western boundary of Westport Borough and terminating at a point 20 chains measured along the said State highway generally in a westerly and in a southerly direction from the said boundary.
(2) Westport-Karamea Main Highway No. 105, commencing at the eastern boundary of Westport Borough and terminating at a point 1 mile 10 chains measured along the said main highway generally in an easterly direction from the said boundary.
(3) Orowaiti Road, commencing at the eastern boundary of Westport Borough and terminating at the junction of the said road with the Westport-Karamea Main Highway.
