Crown Land Set Apart as a Permanent State Forest

A PROCLAMATION
BY virtue and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section eighteen of the Forests Act, 1921–22, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby set apart the Crown land described in the Schedule hereto as a permanent State forest.
SCHEDULE
NELSON LAND DISTRICT.—NELSON CONSERVANCY
ALL those areas in the Nelson Land District, Waimea County, containing by admeasurement 1,727 acres 2 roods 6 perches, more or less, being Sections 9, 10, and 11, Block I, and Section 2, and part of Section 1, Block II, Tapumutu Survey District. As the same are more particularly delineated on plan No. 103/25, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered blue.
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 8th day of February, 1948.

Additional Land at Otorohanga Taken for the Purposes of the North Island Main Trunk Railway

A PROCLAMATION
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Public Works Act, 1928, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes of the North Island Main Trunk Railway.
SCHEDULE
FIRSTLY, all that parcel of land containing 2 acres, more or less, being the block of land in the Orahiri Survey District called Orahiri No. 11A, and being the whole of the land comprised and described in Certificate of Title, Volume 91, folio 95 (Auckland Registry); and, secondly, all that parcel of land containing 5 acres 13 perches, more or less, being part of the block of land situated in the Orahiri Survey District called Orahiri No. 11, and being the balance of the land comprised and described in Certificate of Title, Volume 64, folio 227 (Auckland Registry).
Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, and issued under the Seal of that Dominion, this 7th day of February, 1949.

Constitution of Rural Fire District

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington, this 9th day of February, 1949
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Forest and Rural Fires Act, 1947, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby constitute and declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a rural fire district, to be known as the “Chaney’s Rural Fire District”; and doth hereby specify the trees and other plants on lands situated within the said area as the property for the protection of which the district is constituted; and doth hereby further specify the period between the first day of October in any one year and the thirtieth day of April in the following year (both days inclusive) as a closed fire season in the said district; and doth hereby declare that this Order in Council shall come into force and that the Chaney’s Rural Fire District shall become a rural fire district on the day following publication of this Order in Council in the Gazette; and doth hereby constitute the Christchurch City Council as the rural fire committee of the Chaney’s Rural Fire District; and doth hereby prescribe that the said Chaney’s Rural Fire District shall be administered for the purposes of the said Act by the Christchurch City Council.
SCHEDULE
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.—CANTERBURY CONSERVANCY
Chaney’s Rural Fire District
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, Waimairi County, containing approximately 4,450 acres, situated in Blocks III and IV, Christchurch Survey District, and Block XVI, Rangiora Survey District, and bounded by a line commencing at a point on the south-western side of Marshland Road in line with the south-eastern boundary of the Main North Railway land; thence in a north-easterly direction by a right line to and along the said south-eastern boundary of the Main North Railway land to the right bank of Stewart’s Gully; thence north-easterly along the right bank of Stewart’s Gully aforesaid; thence south-easterly along the right bank of the Waimakariri River to a point in line with the south-eastern side of Heyder’s Road opposite the northernmost corner of Spencer Park; thence south-westerly by a right line to and along the said south-eastern side of Heyder’s Road to its junction with the Lower Styx Road; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern side of that road to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Lot 2 on plan No. 4047, deposited in the Canterbury District Land Registry Office at Christchurch; thence north-westerly by a right line across the Styx River and road reserve, to and along the said north-eastern boundary of Lot 2 on plan No. 4047, deposited as aforesaid, to the south-western side of Teape’s Road; thence north-westerly along the south-western side and south-westerly generally along the south-eastern side of that road to Marshland Road aforesaid; thence north-westerly along the south-western side of that road to the point of commencement. As the same is more particularly delineated on plan 144/2, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

PURSUANT to the Forest and Rural Fires Act, 1947, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby constitute and declare the area described in the Schedule hereto to be a rural fire district, to be known as the “Waikawa Rural Fire District”; and doth hereby specify the trees and other plants on State Forests in the said area as the property for the protection of which the district is constituted; and doth hereby specify the period between the first day of August in any one year and the thirtieth day of April in the following year (both days inclusive) as a closed fire season in the said district; and doth hereby declare that this Order in Council shall come into force and that the Waikawa Rural Fire District shall become a rural fire district on the day following publication of this Order in Council in the Gazette; and doth hereby prescribe that the said district shall be administered for the purposes of the said Act by the Commissioner of State Forests.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SOUTHLAND CONSERVANCY
Waikawa Rural Fire District
ALL that area in the Southland Land District, Southland County, containing approximately 15,400 acres, situated in Block XIV, Mokoreta Survey District, and Blocks I, V, VI, VII, XIV, XV, XVI, and XVII, Waikawa Survey District, and bounded generally as follows: Towards the east, north, and again towards the east by the boundary of the Otago Land District, and by Sections 13 and 2, Block XVI, Waikawa Survey District; towards the south-west by the south-western side of a road passing through Section 8, Block XVI aforesaid; towards the north-east by the north-eastern side of a road; towards the south by the southern side of Longbeach Road; towards the south-west generally by Section 12, Block XVI aforesaid, Sections 9 and 7, Block I, Waikawa Survey District, Sections 5 and 7, Block XVII, Waikawa Survey District, by the south-western side of a road, and by the left bank of the Waikawa River; towards the north and west by Section 6, Block V, Waikawa Survey District; again towards the west by Section 5, Block V aforesaid; towards the north by the northern side of a road; towards the west by the western side of a road; and towards the north by the northern side of a road. As the same is more particularly delineated on Plan 217/11, deposited in the Head Office of the State Forest Service at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.
