CHANGE OF NAME OF COMPANY
NOTICE is hereby given that PELICAN RESTAURANTS, LIMITED, has changed its name to HUGHES BROS., LIMITED, and that the new name was this day entered on my Register of Companies in place of the former name.

THE EDUCATION BOARD OF THE DISTRICT OF OTAGO
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND
In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1928
NOTICE is hereby given that the Education Board of the District of Otago proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Act, to execute a certain public work—namely, the erection of a public school—and for the purposes of such public work and for other purposes in connection with such public school the land described in the Schedule hereto requires to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the lands so required to be taken is deposited in the office of the said Board at 236 Moray Place in the City of Dunedin, and is open to inspection (without fee) by all persons during the ordinary office hours; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Secretary of the said Board.
SCHEDULE
THE land required to be taken is:—
Part Section 2, Block XXV, Waihola Survey District, having an area of 3 acres 2 roods 20·8 poles, more or less, and coloured blue on the said plan.
The above land being in the Land District of Otago; as the same is more particularly delineated on the said plan.
As witness my hand at Dunedin, this 4th day of February, 1949.

THAMES VALLEY ELECTRIC-POWER BOARD
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926, the Thames Valley Electric-power Board (hereinafter called the Board) hereby resolves as follows:—
“ That, for the purpose of providing the interest, instalments, and other charges on a loan of £10,000, authorized to be raised by the Board under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of purchasing land and erecting dwellings or purchasing land with existing dwellings for employees of the Board, the Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of three-eightieths part of a penny in the pound upon the rateable capital value of all rateable property of the whole of the Thames Valley Electric-power District; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of twenty-five years in respect of £6,000 and twenty years in respect of the balance £4,000, or until the loan is fully paid off.”

The above resolution making the special rate was passed at a meeting of the Thames Valley Electric-power Board held on the 1st day of February, 1949.

WHAKATANE HARBOUR BOARD
NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND FOR PUBLIC WORKS
NOTICE is hereby given that the Whakatane Harbour Board proposes, under the provisions of the Harbours Act, 1923, the Whakatane Harbour Act, 1921, and the Public Works Act, 1928, to execute a certain public work—namely, a quarry—and for such public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken: And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the office of the Whakatane Harbour Board, The Strand, Whakatane, and is open for inspection (without fee) by any person during office hours. All persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of such lands who have any well-grounded objection thereto must state their objections in writing, and send the same, within forty (40) days from the first publication of this notice, to the said Board at its said address.
This notice was first published on the 4th day of February, 1949.

ALL that piece of land containing one (1) rood, more or less, being Allotment 273 of the Parish of Waimana, in the Provincial District of Auckland, and the whole of the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 51, folio 262 (Auckland Registry).

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1933, and in the matter of the NELSON TOBACCO COMPANY, LIMITED (in Liquidation).
THE liquidator of the Nelson Tobacco Company, Limited, which is being wound up voluntarily, doth hereby fix the 28th day of February, 1949, as the day on or before which the creditors of the company are to prove their debts or claims, and to establish any title they may have to priority under section 258 of the Act, or to be excluded from the benefit of any distribution made before such debts are proved, or, as the case may be, from objecting to such distribution.
