then easterly along a right line to the dam-site at Maraetai on the
Waikato River ; thence north-easterly along a right line to Trig.
Station 1002, in Block XV, Patetere South Survey District ; thence
due easterly along a right line to its intersection with a right line
from Trig. Station 1390, Pureora, to Trig. Station Puwhenua ;
then north-easterly along the last-mentioned right line to Trig.
Station Puwhenua ; thence north-westerly along a right line in the
direction of Weraiti Trig. Station to a point due west from Otane-
wainuku Trig. Station in Block XVI, Otanewainuku Survey District ;
then due east along a right line to that Trig. Station, and again
due east along that line produced to a point due south of Trig.
Station JI, in Block IV, Waihi South Survey District ; thence along
a right line running due north through Trig. Station JI aforesaid to
high-water mark of the Bay of Plenty ; thence south-easterly and
north-easterly along the aforesaid high-water mark to a point in
line with the south-western boundary of Whangaparaoa No. 1
Block, the point of commencement ; and including White and Whale
Islands and the Ru Rimu Rocks.

EAST COAST ACCLIMATIZATION DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Gisborne Land District bounded by a line
commencing at Trig. Station Te Wana (Block VI, Koranga Survey
District), on the western boundary of Tahora No. 2 Block and
proceeding thence northerly along that boundary to a point in line
with the north-western boundary of S.G. Run 89 ; thence to and
along that boundary, the north-western boundary of S.G. Run 90,
the north-western boundaries of Sections 2 and 3, Block XII, Moanui
Survey District, Sections 4, 1, and 2, Block IX, and Section 2,
Block V, Motu Survey District, to Pokaikiri Trig. Station ; thence
along a right line to Trig. Station 149A ; thence to and along the
Whakapaupakihi Stream, to and up the Motu River to a point in
line with Trig. Stations 140 (Pungarehu) and 139A (Tuanui or Te
Kahakaha) ; thence along a right line passing through the said
Trig. Station 140 to the said Trig. Station 139A ; thence along a
right line to Arowhana Trig. Station and along a right line towards
Kapua Trig. Station to the western boundary of Huiarua No. 3
Block ; thence southerly and easterly along the western and
southern boundaries of Huiarua No. 3 Block aforesaid to the eastern
boundary of Section 1, Block VI, Tutamoi Survey District ; thence
southerly generally along the eastern boundaries of Section 1,
Block VI, Section 2, Block V, and Section 1, Block IX, Tutamoi
Survey District, the north-eastern boundaries of Waipaoa No. 2
and No. 3B Blocks to the Waingaromia River ; thence south-westerly
down that river to the north-eastern boundary of Waingaromia
No. 1C Block ; thence south-easterly along that boundary to Waiapu
Inland Road ; thence north-easterly, easterly, and south-westerly
along that road and the north-western, northern, and south-eastern
boundaries of S.G. Run 42 to the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1,
S.G. Run 43A ; thence south-easterly along that boundary and
south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of the said Lot 1,
S.G. Run 43A, to and along a public road running southerly through
S.G. Run 43 to the northern boundary of S.G. Run 58 ; thence
south-easterly generally along the said northern boundary of S.G.
Run 58, the north-eastern boundaries of Waimata North 1A 2 Block,
S.G. Run 58 aforesaid, and Waimata North No. 1 Block to the
north-western boundary of Section 2, Block XIII, Uawa Survey
District ; thence north-easterly along that boundary to the Pakarae
River ; thence generally south-easterly down that river, to and
along the northern boundary of Pakarae No. 1 Block to the sea-
coast ; thence southerly along the sea-coast to Paritu at the mouth
of the Haukake Stream, Block XIII, Paritu Survey District ;
thence along a right line to the confluence of the Hangaroa and
Ruakituri Rivers ; thence north-westerly generally to and along
the summit of the watershed between the Hangaroa and Ruakiture
Rivers, passing through or near Trig. Stations K, M, Te Aitanga-
amahaki, Kou, Kairanga, 50 (Kahunui), RV and RI to Trig.
Station Te Wana, the point of commencement.

Associate of the Children’s Court at Dunedin Appointed

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
upon me by the Child Welfare Act, 1925, I, Lieutenant-General
Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion
of New Zealand, do hereby appoint—

James McKerrow Miller, 124 Blacks Road, Opoho, Dunedin,
as a person to be associated with the Children’s Court held at
Dunedin, and I declare that the said appointment is made generally
in relation to all matters that may be dealt with by the said Court ;
and I further declare that the said appointment shall be for the
period ending the thirtieth day of June, one thousand nine hundred
and fifty.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 21st day of September, 1949.

Land Reserved in the North Auckland Land District

WHEREAS by the one-hundred-and-sixty-seventh section of
the Land Act, 1948, it is enacted that the Governor-General
may from time to time set apart as a reserve, notwithstanding
that the same may be then held under pastoral lease or pastoral
occupation licence, any Crown land for any purpose which, in his
opinion, is desirable in the public interest, and notice thereof shall
be published in the Gazette :

Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Frey-
berg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in
pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the
said Act, do hereby reserve the land in the North Auckland Land
District, described in the Schedule hereto, for public buildings of
the General Government.

SCHEDULE

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT

SECTIONS 11, 12, and 13, Block X, Mangamuka Survey District :
Total area, 23·49 perches, more or less. (North Auckland plan
S.O. 26205.)

Vesting the Control of a Scenic and Historic Reserve in the Urenui Pa
Scenic Board

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
upon him by section thirteen of the Scenery Preservation Act,
1908, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New
Zealand doth hereby vest the control of the reserve described in the
Schedule hereto (being land reserved under the said Act) for the
period of five years from the date hereof (unless previously altered
or revoked under the said Act), in the undermentioned persons,
namely,—

The Commissioner of Crown Lands for the Taranaki Land
District (ex officio),
Allan Francis Waters,
Alfred Charles Smith,
Francis Simon Fabish,
William Harold Smith,
William Daniel Smith,
Skipper Tutu, and
William Francis Baker

who are hereby constituted for that purpose a special Board by the
name of the Ūrenui Pa Scenic Board (herein referred to as “ the
Board ”), in trust, for scenic and historic purposes, and with the
powers and subject to the conditions hereinafter contained, that is
to say :—

  1. The first meeting of the Board shall be held on Tuesday, the
    twenty-seventh day of September, one thousand nine hundred and
    forty-nine, at half past seven o’clock p.m., in the Library, Urenui.

  2. The members of the Board shall at their first meeting, and
    thereafter at the annual meeting hereinafter mentioned, elect one of
    themselves to be Chairman, who may join in the discussion and shall
    have an original as well as a casting vote. The Chairman shall hold
    office until the election of his successor.

  3. Special meetings may be convened by the Chairman, provided
    that two days’ notice of such meeting is given to each member,
    specifying the business to be transacted at such special meeting ; and
    no other business than that so specified shall be transacted at such
    meeting.

  4. Any five members of the Board shall form a quorum. Any
    meeting may be adjourned from time to time.

  5. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes
    of the members of the Board present at the meeting.

  6. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time
    appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose
    one of their number to be Chairman for such meeting.

  7. If by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise, the seat
    of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents
    himself, without reasonable cause, from three consecutive meetings
    of the Board, the Governor-General shall have power to appoint any
    other person to be a member of the Board in his stead.

  8. The Board shall prepare and submit at an annual meeting to
    be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings
    of the Board for the previous year ending on the thirty-first day of
    March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of
    the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement,
    certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister
    in Charge of Scenery Preservation as soon as possible after each
    annual meeting.

  9. The Board shall control the said reserve in accordance with
    the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.

SCHEDULE

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT

ALL that area containing by admeasurement 7 acres 0 roods 20
perches, more or less, and being Subdivision 2B 1 of Section 2,
Block III, Waitara Survey District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 21st day of September, 1949.
