ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington, this 24th day of
August 1949
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Rabbit Nuisance Act, 1928, and to section
twenty-nine of the Rabbit Nuisance Amendment Act, 1947,
His Excellency the Governor-General, at the request of the Minister
of Agriculture, made on the recommendation of the Rabbit Destruc-
tion Council, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council, doth hereby constitute and declare the area of
land, the boundaries of which are described in the Schedule hereto,
being an area to which subsection one of section thirty of the Rabbit
Nuisance Act, 1928, applies, a rabbit district, and doth appoint
that the name of the said rabbit district shall be the Hawea Rabbit
District, and doth order that the basis on which the Rabbit Board
to be established for the said district shall first levy its general rate
shall be the acreage of land occupied by the ratepayer.
SCHEDULE
DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF THE HAWEA RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Otago Land District and in Vincent County
containing 143,000 acres, more or less, bounded as follows: Com-
mencing at the northernmost corner of Run 99A in Hunter Survey
District on the Hunter River; thence south-easterly along a straight
line to Mount Huxley; thence south-westerly along the north-
western boundary of Run 94 to its south-western corner in Stafford
Survey District; thence south-westerly along a straight line to the
westernmost corner of Run 433 at Dingle Burn; thence generally
southerly along the eastern and south-eastern boundaries of Runs
335B, 236, 236C, and 236E to the southern boundary of Run 236E;
thence westerly along that boundary to the north-eastern corner
of Section 4, Block VII, Tarras Survey District; thence southerly
along the eastern boundary of aforesaid Section 4 and its continuation
to the Clutha River; thence generally north-westerly up the centre
of the Clutha River and north-easterly up the centre of the Hawea
River to Lake Hawea; thence generally north-easterly up the
eastern shore of Lake Hawea and the eastern bank of the Hunter
River to the point of commencement.

DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF THE BENMORE RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the Waitaki County of the Otago Land District
containing 292,000 acres, more or less, bounded as follows:
Commencing at the confluence of the Ahuriri and Waitaki Rivers;
thence generally westerly and northerly up the centre of the main
stream of the Ahuriri River to the confluence of the Hodgkinson
Stream near Trig. F, Stafford Survey District; thence north-easterly
up Hodgkinson Stream to its source in the Barrier Range; thence
north-easterly along the summit of the Barrier Range to Mount
Maitland; thence north-easterly to the source of Temple Stream;
thence north-easterly and south-easterly down Temple Stream to
its confluence with the Hopkins River; thence southerly down the
east bank of the Hopkins River to Lake Ohau; thence along the
northern, western, and southern shores of Lake Ohau and down
the centre of the Ohau River to its confluence with the Waitaki
River; thence southerly down the centre of the Waitaki River to
its confluence with the Ahuriri River, the point of commencement.

ALL that area in the Counties of Mackenzie and Geraldine, Canter-
bury Land District, containing approximately 183,000 acres:
Commencing at a point on the boundary between the Counties of
Mackenzie and Geraldine at Butlers Saddle near the headwaters of
the North Opuha River in Block XI, Fox Survey District; thence
generally in an easterly direction along the northern boundaries
of Pastoral Runs 14, 2A, and Part 1 to Trig. E. (Coal Hill), Block XI,
Mount Peel Survey District; thence in a south-easterly direction
along a fence-line, being the boundary between Pastoral Licences
509 and 549 to Trig. F, Block XV, Mount Peel Survey District;
thence generally south-westerly along the watershed through Trig. H
(Mount Peel); thence to and along Rocky Creek to the River Orari;
thence south-easterly along the middle of that river to a point in
line with the northern boundary of Section 1, Tripp Settlement;
thence to and along that boundary to Orari Gorge Road; thence
southerly along that road to McLeods Road on the northern side
of Section 17, Tripp Settlement; thence westerly along that road,
to and along Eugens Road on the north-western side of Sections 11
and 10, Tripp Settlement, to the River Waihi, South Branch; thence
north-westerly up the middle of that river to a point opposite the
western side of Ribys Road; thence to and along the western side
of that road to and north-westerly along Waihi Bush Road, to
and along Gordons Road, to and along the road on the southern
side of Rural Section 31543, to and along the road intersecting
Rural Section 19757 and that road continued across the River
Hae Hae Te Moana, North Branch, to Four Peaks Road; thence
south-westerly along the road on the south-eastern side of Sections
5 and 6, Four Peaks Settlement, across the River Hae Hae Te
Moana, South Branch, to and south-easterly along Dawes Road,
to and south-westerly along the road intersecting Rural Section
11513, Block III, Opihi Survey District, and along the south-eastern
boundaries of Rural Sections 3929, 7781, and 9114, to and along
the southern boundaries of Rural Sections 36098, 36097, to the
road on the south-west side of Section 4A, Four Peaks Settlement;
thence north-westerly along that road, to and south-westerly along
the south-eastern boundary of Rural Section 36094 to the River
Opuha; thence north-westerly up the middle of that river and the
middle of the North Opuha River to its source; thence northerly
along the western boundary of Pastoral Run 14 to Butlers Saddle
on the boundary between the Counties of Mackenzie and Geraldine
the point of commencement.
