IT is hereby notified that the following appointments have been made :—
William Ernest Osmand
to be Acting Registrar of Marriages and of Births and Deaths for the District of Balclutha, on and from the 8th day of August, 1949.
Fenton Butler
to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Poroporo, on and from the 4th day of July, 1949.
Clarence Deryk Provan
to be Deputy Registrar of Marriages and of Births and Deaths for the District of Whangamomona, on and from the 29th day of July, 1949.
Muriel Constance Pehi (Mrs.)
to be Registrar of Births and Deaths of Maoris at Taheke, on and from the 26th day of July, 1949.

Notice of Intention to Take Land in the City of Auckland for Housing Purposes
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for housing purposes: And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post office at Auckland and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 36·5 perches.
Being Lot 183, D.P. 14665, being part Allotment 17, District of Tamaki, and being the whole of the land comprised and described in certificate of title, Volume 730, folio 165 (Auckland Land Registry).
Situated in Block X, Rangitoto Survey District (City of Auckland), (Auckland R.D.).
In the North Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 128233, deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1928, and section 30 of the Finance Act (No. 2), 1945, to take the land described in the Schedule hereto for better utilization: And notice is hereby further given that a plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Paraparaumu and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Works at Wellington.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 132 acres 3 roods 10·27 perches.
Being Section 1, Tikotu Settlement and part Ngarara West B No. 8 Block.
Situated in Block III, Kapiti Survey District.

Redefining Boundaries of the City of Dunedin, the County of Waikouaiti, and the North-east Valley Riding of the County of Waikouaiti
Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 12th August, 1949.
PURSUANT to the provisions of section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the City of Dunedin are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the said city having been altered by Order in Council made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, dated the 9th day of March, 1949, and published in Gazette No. 15 of the 10th day of March, 1949.
And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the County of Waikouaiti affected by the said Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto.
And, in further pursuance of the provisions of the said section 147 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, the boundaries of the North-east Valley Riding of the County of Waikouaiti affected by the said Order in Council are hereby defined as set out in the Third Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF DUNEDIN
ALL that area in the Otago Land District, commencing at the south-eastern corner of Section 53, Block V, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District; thence south-easterly across a road, along the south-western boundary of Section 75, Block V aforesaid; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of that section to a road; thence easterly along the southern boundary of that road to the south-western boundary of Section 73, Block V aforesaid; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of the said Section 73 to its southernmost corner; thence due east to a point on the right bank of the Leith River; thence generally northerly up that bank of the river to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 81 (E.R.), Block V aforesaid; thence north-westerly and north-easterly along the south-western and north-western boundaries of Section 81 to its northernmost corner; thence easterly along a right line across the Leith River and the Leith Valley Road to the westernmost corner of Section 4, Block VIII, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of the said Section 4 to a road; thence north-easterly along the northern boundary of that road to the southernmost corner of Section 12, Block VIII aforesaid; thence south-easterly by the production of the south-western boundary of said Section 12 to the middle of the road forming the north-western boundary of Block XI, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District; thence towards the north-east by a line along the middle of that road to Section 61, Block VIII aforesaid; thence to and by the north-western boundary of that section to Section 62; towards 42, Block VII, to and by a closed road (now Section 369R) to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 85, North-east Valley Survey District, to and by that section to a road at its southernmost corner, by that road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 84, North-east Valley Survey District; thence to and by that section and the production of its south-western boundary to Section 2 of 4, Block IX, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, and by that section to the northernmost corner of Section 2 of 5; thence towards the south-east by a right line to a Trig. E, Block IX, North Harbour and Blueskin Survey District, and a right line to the southernmost corner of Section 51, Block IX aforesaid; thence by the southern boundary of that section to the north-western corner of Section 52; thence by the north-western boundary of said Section 52 for a distance of 2900 links to the south-eastern boundary of the area vested in the Otago Harbour Board, Deeds Volume 54, folio 902 (Otago Registry); thence towards the north-east generally by the original high-water mark of the Otago Harbour, the Dunedin–Port Chalmers Main Highway, and again the said high-water mark to Trig. EE, the said high-water mark being the southern boundary of the Borough of West Harbour; thence by a right line from Trig. EE to the south-eastern boundary of the land vested in the Otago Harbour Board by the Otago Harbour Board Lands Vesting Bill, 1910, 163° 21′ 46″, 360 links; thence towards the south-west by the said south-eastern boundary to the aforesaid south-eastern boundary of the area vested in the Otago Harbour Board, Deeds Volume 54, folio 902; thence towards the south-east by that boundary to a point in line with the southern side of Park Terrace, distant 1000 links, more or less, from the southern corner of that terrace; thence by a right line to a point in line with the north-western side of Cargill Road, distant 1000 links, more or less, from the north-eastern corner of that road; thence by a line, being the production of the north-western side of Cargill Road, to a point distant 2800 links, more or less, from the north-eastern corner of that road to low-water mark, and by low-water mark for a distance of 4180 links, more or less; thence by a line 3500 links, more or less, to the eastern corner of Allotment 8, D.P. 2950 (Otago Registry); thence north-easterly by the north-eastern side of Portobello Road and high-water mark of Otago Harbour and Anderson’s Bay to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Original Section 12, Block V, Anderson’s Bay Survey District; thence to and by the north-western boundary of that section; thence to and along the south-eastern side of Dunrobin Street to the road forming the north-eastern boundary of the Township of Waverley; thence towards the south-east by the southern side of the last-mentioned road and its production in a south-easterly direction to the middle of Highcliff Road; thence towards the south generally by a line
