Price Order No. 1023 (Amendment No. 1 of Price Order No. 961)
(Meat—Wholesale)

PURSUANT to the Control of Prices Act, 1947, the Price Tribunal,
acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and
Commerce, doth hereby make the following amending Price Order:—

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1023, and shall
    be read together with and deemed part of Price Order No. 961*
    (hereinafter referred to as the principal Order).
  2. This Order shall come into force on the 1st day of July,
  3. The First Schedule to the principal Order is hereby amended
    as follows :—
    (a) By omitting the figure “ 89 9 ” where it appears in column
    D under the heading “ Second Grade ” in relation to
    ox and heifer beef of a carcass weight of over 800 lbs.
    but not over 900 lb. and substituting the figure “ 48 9 ”.
    (b) By omitting the figures “ 0 5¾, 0 6⅛, 0 6½, 0 6⅞, and
    0 6¼ ” where they appear in the respective columns
    under the heading “ First Grade ” opposite the words
    “ Boned beef—all grades ” in relation to joints and
    cuts from “ Ox and heifer (including specially selected
    young cows of first-grade quality) ” and substituting
    the figures “ 0 6¼, 0 6⅝, 0 7, 0 7⅜, and 0 6¾ ”
    respectively.
    (c) By omitting the figures “ 0 5¼, 0 5⅝, 0 6, and 0 6⅜ ”
    where they appear in the respective columns under the
    heading “ Second Grade ” opposite the words “ Boned
    beef—all grades ” in relation to joints and cuts from
    “ Other cow ” and substituting the figures “ 0 5¾,
    0 6⅛, 0 6½, and 0 6⅞ ” respectively, and by inserting
    opposite the said boned beef in the column headed
    “ Frozen Meat ” the figure “ 0 6¼ ”.
    (d) By inserting in Column C under the heading “ Third Grade ”
    in relation to the carcass weight of wether and maiden
    ewes, the price “ 0 5⅜ ” where the weight of the carcass
    is 48 lb. and under,” and the price “ 0 5¼ ” where the
    weight of the carcass is over 48 lb. but not over 56 lb.
    (e) By adding the following to the First Schedule—
    “ Frozen beef
    Second Grade, Third Grade,
    per 100 lb. per 100 lb.
    s. d. s. d.
    “ Where the carcass weight does
    not exceed 720 lb. . . . . . . . . . . 45 6 35 0
    “ Where the carcass weight exceeds
    720 lb. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 44 0 34 0 ”
  4. The principal Order is hereby further amended as follows :—
    (a) By omitting from subclause (1) of clause 2 the definition
    of “ the said specification ”, and substituting the following
    definition :—
    “ ‘ The said specification ’ means the New Zealand
    Standard Specification No. N.Z.S.S. 681 entitled ‘ Grades
    of Meat for Sale on the Local Market and Definitions of
    Joints and Cuts,’ declared by the Minister of Industries
    and Commerce under the authority of section 8 of the
    Standards Act, 1941, to be a standard specification.”
    (b) By inserting in clause 4 after subclause (2) the following
    subclause :—
    “ (2A) Where the price for second or third grade
    frozen meat is not indicated in the First Schedule to this
    Order the maximum price that may be charged for any
    such meat shall be the appropriate price fixed in Column
    A for second grade or third grade fresh meat of that
    kind increased by ½d. per lb.”

Price Order No. 1024 (Amendment No. 1 of Price Order No. 965)
(Meat—Retail)

PURSUANT to the Control of Prices Act, 1947, the Price Tribunal,
acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and
Commerce, doth hereby make the following amending Price Order :—

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1024, and shall
    be read together with and deemed part of Price Order No. 965*
    (hereinafter referred to as the principal Order).
  2. This Order shall come into force on the 1st day of
    July, 1949.
  3. The principal Order is hereby amended by omitting from
    subclause (1) of clause 4 the definition of “ the said specification ”
    and substituting the following definition :—
    “ ‘ The said specification ’ means the New Zealand Standard
    Specification No. N.Z.S.S. 681 and entitled ‘ Grades of
    Meat for Sale on the Local Market and Definitions of
    Joints and Cuts,’ declared by the Minister of Industries
    and Commerce under the authority of section 8 of the
    Standards Act, 1941, to be a standard specification.”

Price Order No. 1025 (Amendment No. 2 of Price Order No. 952)
(Sugar)

PURSUANT to the Control of Prices Act, 1947, the Price Tribunal,
acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and
Commerce, doth hereby make the following amending Price Order :—

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1025, and shall
    be read together with and deemed part of Price Order No. 952*
    (hereinafter referred to as the principal Order.)
  2. This Order shall come into force on the 4th day of July, 1949.
  3. Clause 6 of the principal Order is hereby amended by revoking
    subclause (4) and substituting the following subclause :—
    “ (4) Where sugar is delivered in a lot of less than a half-ton
    or where sugar is delivered with golden syrup or treacle and the
    combined weight of the sugar, golden syrup, or treacle so delivered
    is less than a half-ton the maximum price of the sugar in any such
    lot shall be the price calculated in accordance with the foregoing
    provisions of this clause increased as follows :—
    “ (a) Where there is one bag of sugar in the lot: By 1s. 8d.
    per bag ;
    “ (b) Where the number of bags of sugar in the lot is more than
    one but not more than seven: By 1s. 4d. per bag ;
    “ (c) Where the number of bags of sugar in the lot is more than
    seven but not more than fifteen: By 1s. per bag.”

Price Order No. 1026 (Amendment No. 1 of Price Order No. 978)
(Main Crop Potatoes)

PURSUANT to the Control of Prices Act, 1947, the Price Tribunal,
acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and
Commerce, doth hereby make the following amending Price
Order :—

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1026, and shall
    be read together with and deemed part of Price Order No. 978*
    (hereinafter referred to as the principal Order).
  2. This Order shall come into force on the 1st day of July,
  3. (1) This Order applies with respect to all potatoes which,
    being subject to the principal Order, are sold by a grower for delivery
    at any time after the commencement of this Order and on or before
    the 30th day of November, 1949.
    (2) For the purposes of this Order no potatoes sold on the basis
    of f.o.b.s.e. or f.o.r.s.e. shall be deemed to be delivered to the
    purchaser after the commencement of this Order if—
    (a) In the case of sales f.o.b.s.e. the vessel on which the potatoes
    are laden leaves the port of shipment at any time before
    midnight on the 30th day of June, 1949 ; or
    (b) In the case of sales f.o.r.s.e. the trucks on which the potatoes
    are laden leave the grower’s station at any time before
    midnight of the said date.
    (3) Except as provided in the last preceding subclause, potatoes
    sold f.o.b.s.e. or f.o.r.s.e. shall be deemed to be delivered to the
    purchaser after the commencement of this Order notwithstanding
    that they may have been actually laden on board any vessel or
    trucks before the commencement of this Order.

MODIFICATION OF PRINCIPAL ORDER WITH RESPECT TO POTATOES
THAT ARE SUBJECT TO THIS ORDER

  1. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the principal
    Order the maximum price that may be charged by any grower for
    any potatoes to which this Order applies shall be determined in
    accordance with the following scale, namely :—
    (a) For Sutton’s Supreme, Red Dakota, or King Edward
    potatoes grown in the South Island and sold for delivery—
    Maximum Price per Ton f.o.b.s.e.
    a Port in the South Island.
    (Good Table). (f.a.q.). (Under-grade).
    On and after the £ s. d. £ s. d. £ s. d.
    1st July, 1949 . . 11 0 0 10 10 0 9 10 0
    (b) For any other variety of potatoes grown in the South Island
    and sold for delivery—
    Maximum Price per Ton f.o.b.s.e.
    a Port in the South Island.
