PURSUANT to section five of the Maori Purposes Act, 1937,
His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby set
apart and reserve the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule
hereto as a Maori reservation, to be administered for the use of the
Ngaitiahia Hapu of the Ngati Ranginui Tribe as a meeting-house and
dining-room reserve.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to section five of the Maori Purposes Act, 1937,
His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby set
apart and reserve the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule
hereto as a burial-ground for the common use of the Ngaituranga
Hapu of the Tuhoi Tribe.
SCHEDULE
ALL that piece or parcel of land containing 32 perches, more or less,
known as part Allotment 191c, Parish of Waiotahi, being part of
the land comprised in Certificate of Title, Volume 95, folio 283
(Gisborne Registry).

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Agricultural and Pastoral Societies Act, 1908,
and to section four of the Agricultural and Pastoral Societies
Amendment Act, 1912, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council, doth hereby change the name of
the society incorporated under the Agricultural and Pastoral
Societies Act, 1908, under the style and title of "The Clutha and
Matau Agricultural and Pastoral Society" to "The South Otago
Agricultural and Pastoral Society."

hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act,
1927, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril Freyberg, the
Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby
notify and declare that
Alexander McDonald Syers,
being an officer in the service of the Crown holding the office of
Chief Clerk, Dominion Physical Laboratory, Lower Hutt, is
authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the
three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act,
1927.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 15th day of June, 1949.

hereto, being officers in the service of the Crown holding the offices
stated opposite their names respectively in the said Schedule, are
authorized to take and receive statutory declarations under the
three-hundred-and-first section of the Justices of the Peace Act, 1927.

Exempting Crown Land from the Provisions of the Mining Act, 1926

WHEREAS by section twenty of the Mining Act, 1926, it is,
inter alia, enacted that the Governor-General may from
time to time, by notice in the Gazette, exempt any Crown lands
from mining, or from any specified provisions of that Act, and that
the lands to which any such notice relates shall be specified therein
by words of particular description:
And whereas it is desirable that the Crown land specified in the
Schedule hereto shall be exempted from the provisions of the
Mining Act, 1926, and its amendments, subject to existing registered
mining privileges:
Now, therefore, I, Lieutenant-General Sir Bernard Cyril
Freyberg, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand,
in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred
on me by section twenty of the Mining Act, 1926, and of all other
powers and authorities in anywise enabling me in that behalf, do
hereby exempt the land particularly described in the Schedule
hereto from the provisions of the Mining Act, 1926, subject to
existing registered mining privileges, and do also hereby declare
that such exemption shall take effect from the date of the
publication of this notice in the Gazette.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area of land in the Nelson Land District, Waimea County,
containing by admeasurement 535 acres, more or less, as the same
is more particularly delineated on a plan deposited in the Head
Office of the Mines Department at Wellington, and thereon edged
red (Nelson S.O. Plan 9614).
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General,
this 14th day of June, 1949.

Specifications appearing hereunder are now being circulated
to affected interests for consideration and comment. The closing
date fixed for such comment is the 9th September, 1949,
D. 2800 : Household refuse purchasers.
D. 2801 : Nuisances.
D. 2802 : Offensive trades.
D. 2803 : Sale of second-hand clothing and hiring out of clothing.
D. 2804 : Street stalls.
D. 2805 : Public baths and swimming pools.
D. 2806 : Public places.
D. 2807 : Scaffolding and deposit of building materials.
D. 2808 : Good rule and government.
D. 2809 : Hawkers, pedlars, and itinerant traders.
D. 2810 : Billiard-rooms.
D. 2811 : Shooting galleries.
All persons who may be affected by these specifications once
they have been declared Standard Specifications by the Minister of
Industries and Commerce may, at any time before the closing date
for comments, obtain on application free copies from the New Zealand
Standards Institute, Hamilton Chambers, 201 Lambton Quay,
Wellington, so as to have an opportunity to consider the drafts, to
comment thereon to the Standards Council, or to an appropriate
committee of the Council in accordance with subsection (3) of
section 8 of the Standards Act, 1941.
