Price Order No. 1014 (Furniture)

P URSUANT to the Control of Prices Act, 1947, the Price Tribunal
acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and
Commerce, doth hereby make the following Price Order:-

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1014, and shall
    come into force on the 9th day of June, 1949.
  2. This Order applies to furniture manufactured in New Zealand
    in respect of which the maximum factory selling-price at which the
    manufacturer may sell the furniture is at the date of this Order
    fixed by an approval under the Control of Prices Act, 1947.
  3. The maximum factory selling-price that may be charged or
    received by any manufacturer of goods to which this Order applies
    shall be the maximum factory selling-price fixed by the approval
    relating to the goods increased by an amount equal to 3·3 per cent.
    of that price.
  4. Every approval in force at the date of this Order fixing the
    maximum factory selling-price at which a manufacturer may sell
    furniture shall be read subject to this Order and shall be deemed to
    be amended accordingly.

Price Order No. 1015 (Imported Goods-Plywood and Veneers)

P URSUANT to the Control of Prices Act, 1947, the Price Tribunal
acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and
Commerce, doth hereby make the following Price Order:-

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1015, and shall
    come into force on the 20th day of June, 1949.
  2. This Order applies with respect to all kinds and thicknesses
    of plywood (other than Finnish birch plywood) and to veneers that
    have been or may hereafter be imported into New Zealand, and in
    respect of which the maximum price is at the date of this Order
    fixed by an approval under the Control of Prices Act, 1947.
  3. Where the importer of any goods to which this Order applies
    has paid or is liable to pay for the goods at a price calculated on the
    basis of the rate of exchange between New Zealand currency and
    sterling ruling immediately prior to the 18th day of August, 1948,
    the wholesale price authorized by any approval given under the
    Control of Prices Act, 1947, relating to any such goods shall be
    reduced by an amount equal to the amount by which the cost of
    those goods to the importer would have been reduced if New Zealand
    currency had at all times been at parity with sterling, and every
    such approval shall be read and construed accordingly.

Price Order No. 1017 (Laundry and Dry-cleaning Charges)

P URSUANT to the Control of Prices Act, 1947, the Price Tribunal,
acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and
Commerce, doth hereby make the following Price Order:-

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1017, and shall
    come into force on the 9th day of June, 1949.
  2. This Order applies to laundry and dry-cleaning work in
    respect of which the maximum charge is, at the date of this Order,
    fixed by an approval under the Control of Prices Act, 1947.
  3. (1) The maximum charge that may be made or received by
    any person for laundry or dry-cleaning work to which this Order
    applies shall be the maximum charge fixed by the approval given
    to that person in respect of the work increased by an amount equal
    to 5 per cent. of the charge fixed as aforesaid.
    (2) The said additional charge of 5 per cent. shall be calculated
    with respect to the total sum payable at any one time by a customer.
    (3) If in respect of any laundry or dry-cleaning work the total
    sum payable calculated in accordance with the foregoing provisions
    of this Order is not an exact number of pence or halfpence the
    total sum shall be computed to the next upward halfpenny.
  4. (1) Every approval in force at the date of this Order fixing
    the maximum charge for laundry or dry-cleaning work shall be read
    subject to this Order, and shall be deemed to be amended
    accordingly.
    (2) If any such approval ceases to apply to the charges that
    may be made by any person for laundry or dry-cleaning work the
    provisions of this Order shall no longer apply to that person.

P URSUANT to the Control of Prices Act, 1947, the Price Tribunal,
acting with the authority of the Minister of Industries and
Commerce, doth hereby make the following amending Price Order:-

  1. This Order may be cited as Price Order No. 1016, and shall
    be read together with and deemed part of Price Order No. 789*
    (hereinafter referred to as the principal Order).
  2. This Order shall come into force on the 13th day of June,
  3. The Schedule to the principal Order is hereby amended by
    adding after the words "' Beehive ' safety matches", the words
    "and ' Tip Top ' safety matches ".
